Monday - Happy Valentine’s Day - Snowy in the morning, clear later on.

Had an interesting day with an odd start. I woke up this morning to make a trip down the hall and noticed that it was after 7 am and F was still in bed, fast asleep. Oops. I woke him up and he got dressed in a hurry. I stayed up with him and then went back to bed after he left.

I got up again at 9 and was going to go back to bed, but I made the mistake of turning on the TV and watching the pre Grammy show and then got sucked into the Grammys for a while. Some of it was awful, but some of it was fun.

I ended up staying up all day!

I didn’t do a lot today, I watched the weekend’s TV and then some TV.

F came home around 6:30 and then I started dinner. Tonight we had miso pork, salad and gnocchi. It was quite good. F cut up some pickled vegetable and we had that too.

After dinner, F suggested going for a drive. I hadn’t been out all day, so I agreed. We drove around for a bit and even caught sight of a tanuki. We went to the local ski hill. We call it “The Flying Ski Hill” because it is lit up at night and we can see it from a distance. It seems to hover above the city. We got there just after nine pm and I saw a couple of cars driving out and said to F that I thought they were closing. We get into the parking lot and there were a lot of people changing clothes next to their vehicles. Then, the ski lift stopped working. I had lifted my camera to take a picture and the lights went out. Our timing was terrible!

The Flying Ski Hill up close!

We drove back to Tsuruoka, taking the long way, and stopped at Mr. Donut. I redeemed the rest of my points for another smaller bag and we got a cup of cafe au lait and some kinako donut holes.

We came home via the grocery store. My student cancelled her class tomorrow so I decided to cook dinner again. At home, we settled in to watch Hell’s Kitchen. It was part one of the finale. We also sampled some of the gorgeous chocolate that F bought us from our favourite restaurant. Yum.

Anyway, that was my day. It was quite nice. Having dinner at home was a good thing, and going out for the drive was also a good thing. Having chocolate…definitely a good thing! Night!
