Wednesday - Clear in the early part of the day, snow at night.

An okay day. I didn’t get up early today. I’ve gotten up early every day for the last few, so I just stayed in bed. It was warm, the apartment was cold and kerosene is in short supply, so I stayed warm!

When I did get up, I watched some of the weekend’s TV, and also ran the heater for 3 hours. I kept the door to the bedroom closed, so the heat was somewhat contained and managed to leave the heater off for the rest of the afternoon. I didn’t turn it on until after dinner I think. Yay me!

I had a busy day today, relatively. I cleaned the toilet, and vacuumed the apartment. I also did the prep for dinner.

Before F came home, I started the potatoes cooking and when he arrived I waited a bit and then began cooking the asparagus and the pork. Everything came together well, but I couldn’t get F to come and eat. I asked him once, so just started to eat without him. He was watching earthquake news.

After dinner he wanted to go out and see about getting some kerosene. I needed to go to my school to, so we combined the two trips. F found a gas station that had workers inside and arranged to have a delivery of kerosene later in the week. Yay. It’s not just for us, but we also have to get it for F’s mother.

We stopped by my school so I could set the timer on the heater for tomorrow, then we made a quick stop to McDonalds for a Flurry. They’ve made them smaller, which is probably better for my waistline, but not as good for my ice cream jonesing!

Came home and F worked on a project for me, and at 11:00 I turned on American Idol and F went into the bedroom to keep working. I was quite sad about that. It’s hard for him to do translating when he’s hearing English all the time. I worked a little more on the restart of my shawl. I’m using a bigger hook and it’s looking much better.

Anyway, that’s about it for me. It was an okay day. Quiet, but I needed that. Tomorrow I’m at work in the evening. Talk to you later. Night.

Oh, before I forget...a little In Memoriam...Elizabeth Taylor died today. She had been ill for a long time so people may have forgotten what an incredibly beautiful woman she was in her day. She wasn't a bad actress either. I especially remember The Taming of the Shrew and also Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf.

In her later years she became an AIDS activist and was also known for her friendship with Michael Jackson.

She'll be missed.

One of the good things that might come out of all of this is that people may have a better sense of how to conserve energy through small changes in their lives. Personally, I'm still hoping Japan will re-think the huge number of vending machines and konbini after this as they are big energy sucks!

Stay warm! ;-)

I do think there should be some sort of dimming feature on the vending machines. I wouldn't want to do away with them entirely, but I remember riding my bike to F's house when we first got married. I would always be blinded for a few seconds by a vending machine. I couldn't look away from it.

A lot of the Konbini up here are dimming their outside lights, and aren't even using their light up signs at all.

Thanks for visiting :-)
