Postcrossing - Incoming

To May 5th, 2012

I've had a rather nice lot of cards appear in my mailbox but sadly, not a lot of time to write them up.  Hopefully I can bring these up to date now.

My first card comes from Finland. It's a movie card, the controversial The Piano. It must be said that although I respected the movie, I didn't like it that much!

The sender writes that it is one of her favourite movies.  She also likes The Bridges of Madison County and The Dead Poet's Society (sic).  The stamp she used was interesting too, an Aurora borealis one.  Very beautiful.

'The Bicycle Doctor' Cambridge
This card came from England, from a woman who lives near Cambridge.  She writes that she loves her city.  Her stamp was also interesting, it shows a portrait of George III.

Lisa sent this card of the Hershey Company's Chocolate Factory in Hershey, Pennsylvania.  Apparently it is the largest chocolate producing plant in the world.

Lisa writes that she lives in Pittsburgh, about a 3.5 hour drive from Hershey, PA.

Wilma sent this card from the Netherlands. It is a card from a restaurant and shows three of their different breakfasts.

She writes that she is a primary school teacher.  She lives in Rotterdam and likes reading, walking and cycling.  When she wrote the card, the weather was rainy and windy like autumn.

Her stamps were also interesting.  She used old, pre Euro ones, and I've never seen them before.

"Farewell, Comrades!"
This card comes from Romania.  Alin writes that it shows a documentary film about the fall of communism.  His favourite movie is Stalker by Andrei Tarkovski. I hadn't heard of it, so looked it up. It sounds interesting and perhaps someday I'll be able to see it.

The stamp he used was interesting as it has both a lamb and a flower on it!

Claudia from the Netherlands sent this lovely Dutch tulip card.   She writes that she works in a daycare for disabled children.  She likes reading running and shopping.  She thinks that Postcrossing is great.  Her and her children love to find cards in their mailbox.

Greetings from the country whose people read the most
Maria sent this card from Russia.  She said that Postcrossing has made her start reading about other countries and that she fell in love with Canadian nature.  She talks about Alberta's high mountains covered with snow, deep lakes with crystal water.  She envies people that live there.

She hopes that Japanese nature is also wonderful and that I do not miss Alberta too much.  A very sweet sentiment.

Maria used a few lovely stamps of Russian buildings, including one that is for the 2014 Olympic Games.

And that's the lot.  They are now up to date, and so are you!  Any comments or questions about these cards?  A nice bunch this time.  Thanks for looking.
