Postcrossing - Incoming

To July 10, 2012

Had a bunch of nice cards come through my mail slot since the last update, so thought I'd share them with you.  Comments or questions about the cards are welcome below.

The first card comes from a Polish man living in the Netherlands.  He designs bags and clothes now.  He likes cooking, gardening and table games in his free time.

He lives in Zeewolde, which is a small village that is built on reclaimed land.  He writes that 100 years ago there would only be water where he lives now.

It's a very cool card...I looked up the artist and he's quite interesting. He uses himself as the model.

Teun Hocks/Studie, 1997

This card comes from Taiwan, from a man who describes himself as an urban indigene.  He is a father of three and an engineer.   I'm not sure if he's seen this movie or not.

I haven't seen this movie. At the time, I heard it wasn't that good, so I gave it a miss.  Maybe I was wrong?

This card came from China.  The sender wrote a little about the artist, Zheng Banqiao. Apparently the artist died in 1765.  The sender notes that the artist was gay but at the time, wasn't allowed to admit it.

This is an interesting picture and I would love a large print of it to put on a wall.  Maybe someday!

Alena sent this card from Belarus.  It shows the Nesvizh Palace which she says is one of the most famous tourist sites in Belarus and it is also a UNESCO World Heritage site.  She writes that the park around the palace is truly beautiful.

Niesvizh Palace and Park Ensemble, XVI-XIX centuries

Friederike sent this card from Germany.  She writes that her favourite movies are War Horse, Avatar and Mr. Hobbs takes a Vacation. Her other interests include gardening, reading and nature.

Man Reading by Lamplight (1814) - Georg Friedrich Kersting (1785-1847)
I really like this card.  For some reason it makes me think of Jane Austen's heroes.  I could see this as a Mr. Darcy or Mr. Knightley.  It isn't...it is just my imagination.

There you have them.  Five great cards.  I hope you like them as much as I do.
Until next time...
