Wednesday - Clear and sunny

A good day.

I got up in time to watch Veronica Mars.  F, bless him, had actually tuned in on the TV for me. Yay.

We had a quick breakfast, and I finished up the cards.  I sealed the last ones I had written last night.  Yay.  They were ready to go.

We relaxed for a bit and then went out in the afternoon.  We first went to the post office and mailed off the cards. Done!  They were regular price too, so they went air mail and didn't cost as much as last year.  I think I will have to buy my cards in Japan instead of in Canada.  They were so expensive to send last year.

We had a quick lunch at Cocos (we both had rice gratin, different ingredients though) and then headed over to the doctor's office.  We got our flu shots, paid and left.  We had a quick tea and cake in the mall, F bought himself a couple of things in the grocery shop, and off we went.

We came home and I relaxed.  F got changed for his chiropractic appointment and then left.  I spent some time working on a few projects that I needed to work on and answering email and more.

When F came home it was close to 9 pm, so we didn't have a lot of choice for restaurants.  We went to Kappa Sushi.  It was okay.  It wasn't great and they were out of many of our favourite types of sushi.  Then we went to the grocery store to get a few things for dinner tomorrow.  It'll be pasta again, but it'll be fine.  We can have different pasta sauces too.

We had a relaxing time in the evening.  I worked on things on my computer and finished my book, Mrs. Polifax on Safari.  I'd read it years ago, but bookmooched it a few months ago. I love it!

That's about it for me.  I have a few errands to run tomorrow if the weather holds and I hope it will.  I also have to get my column written very soon.  Sigh. No ideas at the moment on what to write.  I hope inspiration finds me soon! I must go.  Night!

I got my cards from Costco this year. They weigh 24 grams. I should have weighed them first because I had a bunch of family photos reprinted to enclose, but if I did, the postage would more than double to 260 yen, so I ended up not using them after all. The Costco cards are quite large but since they are under 25 grams, you can send them for 110 yen if you write Greeting Card on the envelope. Looking at the PO website, I see they can actually be thick as well. Good to know for next year. http://www.post.japanpost.jp/int/ems/greeting/first/index.html

I was also surprised to see that the PO is endorsing postcrossing! http://www.post.japanpost.jp/int/ems/greeting/cross/

I bought a couple of boxes of cards the last time I was in Canada (2011), but they were heavier than they should be and they had a detail on the front that made them too thick. They cost a fortune to send!

I found some this year at the office supply store that I buy my postcards at. They were all Japanese designs and fairly reasonable, and all were marked as being under 20 grams.

Isn't it great about the post office? I saw the blurb about it on the Postcrossing Facebook page. I wanted to print it out for my local post office!
