Monday - Cloudy then rainy in the evening
A good, busy day.
I got up this morning a bit late, but I did get up. I had a quiet hour or so and then decided to get on with things. I made the bed, showered and then came through to the living room and got a start on dinner. I had decided that I was going to make Tuna Patties from Simply Recipes for dinner, so I wanted to get them made early so they could chill in the fridge all day.
I made them, and then put them in the fridge. Then I got on with the business of cleaning up the kitchen. And today, I did do a bit of cleaning! I washed the dish strainer rack and also one of the burners on the stove. It’s the one that F uses for his ramen and it was very messy. Still, I felt quite glad that I finally did it. I also washed up all the dishes from my cooking and the weekend.
In the afternoon I watched a bit of TV from the weekend, especially while I was in the kitchen. Later on I had a late breakfast and then a later lunch. I read the paper too, and despaired that The Japan News has become even worse since its recent revamp. I’m going to ask F to cancel it. I hope he will.
When F came home I asked him if he wanted dinner right away or after a while. He chose as soon as possible, so I did my other stuff. I put on some hash brown patties in the toaster oven to cook, set the table and cooked the tuna patties. We had a “patty” kind of dinner today. F didn’t realize that they weren’t hamburgers at first! They were really good and F asked that I make them again some time. Of course, that means I have to buy big cans of tuna again.
F did the dishes and we had a quiet night in. There wasn’t much on TV for me, so I let F watch what he liked. I wrote up a few postcards for Postcrossing and one as a trade to a friend.
I also bought a pattern from the internet, something that I have never done before. I’ve finally found out that the next member of F’s family will be a boy. I’ve told F that he has to buy me the wool for the blanket, but it’s going to be nice. I just have to decide on the colours I think.
F went to bed a while ago, I should get there soon! I’m not sure what I’m going to do with myself tomorrow. I’ll have to scan postcards and make a post office run I think. I’m also cooking dinner so that’ll be fun! Or not. Come back later and find out what I get up to. Until tomorrow….

Helen, Just curious, but do any other non-Japanese live in your town? Tuna Patties sound delicious!
There are actually a lot of non-Japanese people in my city, I'm just not sure if they speak English or not! We have a university with students from all over the world here. However, I'm not the age of a typical student. I do know there is one more foreign wife here, but our paths don't cross very often.
Tuna patties were great. I highly recommend them! I think next time I'll make them smaller and serve with buns. F liked them a lot, as did I.
