Monday - Sunny and warm

A good day.

I got up quite early this morning.  I wanted to watch the Tony Awards, and got up just in time for them.  I didn’t watch them all, I had to work out, but what I saw was okay.  The Japanese announcers on WOWOW were convince that Ken Watanabe would win, I was less convinced…and of course he didn’t.

F came home for lunch.  He brought himself a bento and then dashed off back to work.  I had just had breakfast, so waited for a while before I had lunch.

In the afternoon I did some computer stuff and then took a shower.  I also cleaned some of the shower while I was in it.  It just looked grungy for a change.  F usually does it, but I did a lot of it today.

In the afternoon I tried to watch something on the DVR but something happened and it stopped working.  I could get the sound but not the picture.  Yikes.  Luckily I wasn’t missing anything, but it was annoying.

F didn’t go to his mother’s house tonight, he came home.  I told him about the DVR and got on with dinner.  It was hard for me not to interfere, but I didn’t.  He finally did fix it, but it took ages.  I felt really bad, but luckily, I think everything is okay.

Tonight I made tandoori chicken in the toaster oven with sautéed Swiss chard with parmesan.  The Swiss chard was good, but a bit fiddly.  I had to wash the chard, then separate the leaves from the spines.  Still, it all worked out and dinner was good.  We also had a salad and F added on some rice to his.

We had a basically quiet evening.  I watched Gossip Girl, which has just started on one channel.  I’ve seen some of it on another channel, but I really liked it.  I had forgotten how bad my favourite character was at first.  Sigh.  I did some crochet during the show, so hopefully I’ll be able to show you tomorrow.

After crochet, when I checked my food log for the day, I realized that I was well under, so I made a bread pudding.  F went to bed before it was finished, so I had some by myself.  It’s okay.  It isn’t very sweet, so that is probably a good thing.

That’s about it for my day.  I’m not sure what I’m going to get up to tomorrow, you’ll have to come back later and find out!  Until tomorrow….

Watching calories is hard. I was using an APP for a while on my Ipad. the APP is good but the problem is that I never know how many calories are in my food! I buy fresh and just cook. How do you keep track of calories? I'm not so good at it. If the calories are listed on the package that helps-but I don't buy packaged food so....gah! I guess! But I think my guess is wrong most of the time.

I use My Fitness Pal and weigh my food before I eat it...at least for breakfast and lunch. MFP is an on-line site, but they have an app I use on my iPhone too.

We bought kitchen scales for our bread maker and I use those to weigh what I eat. I don't usually weigh things when DH is around though. If you know how much things weigh it is much easier to know figure out how many calories are in things. There is also a recipe section, you can plug in ingredients and it'll tell you how much a serving will be.

I hope this helps.
