Friday - Cloudy and cooler
A surprisingly good day!
Yesterday I wrote of my plans to see my friend tonight and go to a movie. Well, plans change.
In the morning, my sister very kindly drove me to the bank and I took care of some business there. Then, I did a little shopping for things that I like to take back to Japan with me. Chiefly, things like headache medicine and blue mascara! We came back to the house and I had lunch while my sister picked up her son.
I got a text from my friend saying that she didn't feel very well, but I was charging my phone so I went upstairs. When I checked my phone a bit later, she had written more to say that she was feeling really bad and didn't think she would be able to come. I wrote her back a few messages to say how sorry I was and that she should really take care of herself first.
I told my sister and the others and some of our plans changed. My niece was supposed to go out with a friend too, but the friend cancelled on her. Instead, we decided to go out together for dinner! I took her to the same restaurant that I took my nephew to earlier this week and we enjoyed a nice meal together. Today we had some spring rolls and kimchi to start and then she had wor-wonton soup and I had grilled chicken vermicelli. I quite liked mine. After dinner, we went to the local Starbucks and had some iced tea and talked a bit more before going back to the house.
When we arrived it wasn't too late, so we all decided to watch a movie. We settled on Hidden Figures and all really enjoyed it. It was great to see a movie about women making it in an all boys club...made even more difficult because they were women of colour. My sister's family had visited NASA a few years ago, so they had seen some of the places in the movie.
And that was about it. I thought I might be able to have a chat with my husband tonight, but I couldn't reach him. He was taking his mother out for lunch so I know he was awake a while ago!
Tomorrow I will probably go to the hockey game to watch my nephew and then hopefully give my sister a hand with some of the pre-Thanksgiving dinner cooking. But, we'll see. Come back in a bit and see what I get up to. Until tomorrow....

It must be nice for you not to have to fight over food nearly everyday and deal with so much tension! Are you sure you don't want to just stay there? ;-)
I'm glad you're having a good time!
It really is nice not to fight about food. I have had the chance to eat so many things that I really love, I am actually dreading that part of going back! However, my life is back in Japan. I don't think I fit in anymore back here, not permanently anyway.
Not fitting in back home is certainly something I can understand!
