April 29, 2009 - Wednesday

Sunny day.

Today wasn't great unfortunately. I got up a bit after 10 today. I had planned to get up earlier, but when I checked the living room, Fumihiko was stretched out on the couch in his jimbei so there didn't seem much point in getting up. When I did get up, I got dressed and started making my quiche. It didn't take too long as I had done the veggie prep last night. I put it in the oven, washed all the dishes I had dirtied, wiped and set the table and then worked on the salad. I had two stalks of asparagus leftover, so I quickly washed, cut and stirfried them in a little oil. I added a splash of vinegar to the pan too. I took the asparagus out when it was still crunchy and put it in a dish to cool. I washed the lettuce, and threw it and the asparagus into the fridge. What did Fumihiko do during this time? He made sure the couch didn't fly away.

The quiche looked gorgeous when it was cooked, so I took it out of the oven, cut it, and then threw the salad ingredients together. Voila. Fumihiko, still trying to keep the couch in one place was pretty difficult to get to the table. He had to bring his cell phone over for company. The quiche was great, and even though I was thinking that I'd be able to have leftovers for breakfast tomorrow, we ate it all. The salad too. The stirfried asparagus made a nice light and crunchy addition to the lettuce. Fumihiko did do the dishes, which was a good thing as I was more than a little peeved with him for not helping out.

We didn't have a great afternoon. We started watching movies on WOWOW. First up was Desperado with "Antonio Banderas". You have to say it trippingly, so it rolls off your tongue with Spanish accent. Try again. Antonio Banderas. Fun isn't it? Sort of the same way that Ricardo Montalban said "Corinthian Leather". The next one that came on was a stupid film that I didn't even watch, although in retrospect, I think Fumihiko thought I did. I thought he was watching it, so didn't talk much. We got a bit snarky at each other. I was annoyed because he'd never mentioned going to a film at all, until it was after 3:30. The afternoon show had already started. The only showing left of the one we wanted to see was late at night. Sigh.

He left for a while and then came back. We went out for supper. We tried the new place again, New York, New York. It was good, but busy. While we were eating dinner, Fumihiko asked if I'd like to go to karaoke afterwards. I rarely turn it down, so that's what we did. We made a brief stop at home to pick up my glasses and his neck brace, then went to our usual place.

We decided to only go for two hours as Fumihiko has to work tomorrow. We had a good time really. I sang a bunch of Canadian songs near the end. I needed to. Hey, I can rock "Sunglasses at Night". Who knew? At the start of the night, I found a new ELO song, "Last Train to London". Okay, not a new song, just new to karaoke. I was happy.

We came home via the grocery store. I'm going to make dinner tomorrow night if all goes well. Fumihiko might be late tomorrow night, so I'm not completely sure.

As soon as we got home and put the groceries away, Fumihiko went to bed. Huh? Okay dear. Nighty night. I think he's not doing as well as we both hoped after the surgery.

Anyway, I have to go. Tomorrow I have to finish up my movie column and then send it in, I also hope to go out or do something exciting. Night!
