Sunday - Cloudy but not rainy

We all slept in very, very late this morning. I think I was asleep before F last night, and I went to bed around 4! I woke up a couple of times to use the ‘loo and then because Lady Gaga sang at 11:00am.  I got up around then, F was around the same time too.  He took his mother off to the onsen which left me with a few minutes alone to take care of some chores. Yay.

I vacuumed my room under the desk, I refilled the kerosene tank in our room’s heater, and I did a couple of other things too. I also did a more personal chore, and I got dressed!

F and K didn’t get back until 2:45 or so and then wanted to have lunch!  Where?  Most places finish lunch around 2 so this was really too late. F made me pick a place so I chose Gusto. It’s cheapish, it’s fine and it was open.  We all piled in the car and went. Today’s meal was fine. I had some chicken and ordered a plate of fries to share, K had her usual mackerel grill and F had pork on rice. I think we were all okay with the food. The fries went down a treat. I’m leading K down the path of western food!

After dinner, we went to the hundred yen shop nearby. I was looking for luggage tags. At the shop in S-Mall, they had luggage tags, but they were silly animal ones with lots of edges and were just asking to catch in machinery and get ripped off. At least S-Mall’s store had some. This shop didn’t. K and F walked around the store together. She used a buggy like a walker, I went off on my own.  I got a few things to liven up someone’s Christmas Present and then we left.

We came back to the house and dropped off our shopping and K.  She’d had a busy day for her. Two outings! Wow.

F and I went out again to another hundred yen shop. It took a bit of looking around, but I did find luggage tags, so I bought 4. I find that they do get broken easily (even the more expensive ones) so I wanted extra on hand. I picked up a couple of bags for Christmas wrapping and a ball of gorgeous purple lace cotton. I had to. I picked it up, considering it. I put it back and then it fell off the shelf, trying to fall into my cart. Obviously, we were meant to be together!

After our shopping I was thirsty. I suggested getting a drink, so we ended up at Starbucks. Although I really wanted to try that new Christmas drink with french fries in it, I didn’t. F just had coffee so I had a simple iced tea. No big deal.

We drank our drinks and spent some time in the coffee shop until we got cold, then went over to the book store. F bought a book and I bought a pen.  We left and got our groceries along the road.

Following the groceries, we picked up some kerosene for the house and some gasoline for the car. I suggested going back to the house to drop things off, which we did.

F was demanding I pick the dinner place again, so I did. I suggested Coco Ichibanya, so we went there. I think F doesn’t like it too much, or he thinks it is overpriced. Then again, he thinks everything is, including his beloved ramen. They had soup curry on again so I was happy. I had that, just the basic one tonight and F had a tonkatsu curry that also looked good. We skipped drinks, so the meal came to less than 2000yen, which I think was very reasonable.

We came back to the house and chilled out for the next while. I noticed there was a Keanu Reeves/Winona Ryder movie (Destination Wedding) on at 11 so I watched that. I really enjoyed it! It was rather amusing. When I checked other movies on tonight I found a couple on the movie channel so I have set my DVR. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to watch them tomorrow so I might have to erase them, but you never know.

I also finished another decoration for Christmas Trees. I’m up to 4 now. I don’t know if I’ll be able to get any more done or not. I do hope so as I’d like to give some to my friends for a personal Christmas present.

As always, come back here tomorrow and see what I get up to. Tomorrow I have to start packing my suitcase to see if I’m taking one case or two…It sounds sooo exciting, doesn’t it?  Until tomorrow….

Friday - Cold but clear. Cold. Very cold!

Had a wonderful day with my friend shopping up a storm in Edmonton, then watching an amazing movie.

We went to see The King's Speech which was great. I was really looking forward to seeing it and Colin Firth was so good as George VI. If the movie interests you in any way, see it. I wrote on Facebook that it was a film for adults about adults. So very rare!

My friend and I had a late lunch at Boston Pizza and then she drove me back to Beaumont.

Almost immediately my family and I left to go to a New Year's Party. I didn't know anybody there, but it was quite fun listening to all of the people's stories. That's the sort of thing that rarely happens in Japan as I can't understand the stories!

We came home just after midnight, and I came downstairs.

It was a great day. Tomorrow we have our New Years Day party, but hopefully it should be fun too.

Night...and of course, Happy New Year!

December 30, 2010

Thursday - Cold and sunny. Cold!

A good day.

I slept really well last night. I didn't wake up at all until after 8 am this morning. That's quite unusual. Lately I've been waking up a couple of times, but not last night.

I had a long relaxing morning watching the Food Channel and then spent some time watching a cartoon with Zach.

After lunch we went to Edmonton. Van was looking for place mats and I was along for the ride and to help keep an eye on Zach. They finally left me at Southgate and I did a bit of window shopping before zooming off to Whyte Ave.

Today I took the LRT from Southgate up to the University. It was the first time I have ridden the new and extended LRT. I caught a bus from the University and got off on Whyte Ave.

I went to the bank that I used to work at, left a note for my one remaining co-worker, and then wandered along the street. So much has changed since I lived there. There had even been changes since last year when I went there. I spent a little bit of time in the bookstore before going back to the restaurant to meet my friend Massie.

We had a yummy meal at Continental Treat. We started with Dill Pickle Soup which was amazing. I'd been dreaming about it since last year when I first tried it. I had chicken stroganoff and Massie had wiener Schnitzel. They were both really good. We didn't have any room for dessert, we both just drank lots of coffee instead.

We walked back to the (new) Shoppers on the corner and I got some more medicine and called Joe to come and get me. He nicely said he would even though it was more difficult than he thought. We had a bit of fun meeting up as there isn't really any parking and the roads aren't supposed to be stopped on.

I came back to Beaumont, spent a few minutes on the computer and then spent a bit of time with Joe watching the news before I came downstairs to go to bed. It's really cold down here.

Anyway, tomorrow I'm off shopping with my friend and then in the evening I may go to a party. I'm not sure how late I'll be so I might not update tomorrow night. However, I've said that before, so you just never know!

Night.

December 29, 2010

Wednesday - Cold and snowy.

A good day. I slept quite well last night. The vaporizer put enough moisture in the air for me, so I didn't wake up coughing like the night before. I slept until 6, went back to sleep until 8:30 which was unusual for me these days.

We had a quiet day here at Van's. I didn't go out at all again, but it was fine. The weather didn't look great, so I was happy to stay in.

In the morning, I played games with Zach, watched a bit of TV downstairs and helped a Van a bit with cleaning.

In the evening, Joe brought home fixings for dinner and we had pasta with chicken. It was good.

Tonight's entertainment was watching Joe and the kids play on the Wii and then we all snuggled up on the couch and watched Toy Story 3. It was good, although I had a flash of AI deja vu. Maybe it was just me!

Anyway, that's it for me. Tomorrow I venture up to Whyte Ave to meet an old friend and have dinner. Wish me luck! Night.

December 28, 2010

Tuesday - Sunny and clear, not terribly cold.

I had a bad night last night. I didn't sleep well and when I did, I woke up coughing. Sigh. I didn't feel that great today as a result. However, our morning was quite slow and quiet. I spent a lot of time watching the Food Network as usual. I'm quite obsessed with that channel!

I went out with Van and the kids to take in some of the recyclables to the collection point. After that, we started looking for things for Zachary's party. He's going to have a party the day before I leave.

We left the mall empty handed, but stopped in at the dollar store in Beaumont and Van had better luck. She didn't buy anything, but discovered that they had a lot of good things there. Yay.

At home, we had a quiet afternoon. I "babysat" the terrible two while Van ran an errand. I had to go and yell at them a little, but over all, it wasn't a bad experience.

We had a nice dinner tonight of spaghetti and meatballs, after which Van did some chores and I did the dishes that couldn't go in the dishwasher.

We rounded out the evening with Attack of the Clones or whatever the latest Star Wars animated movie was. It was okay, but a bit long I thought.

I came downstairs. I have a vaporizer going in my room, so hopefully my nose and throat will benefit from the moisture in the air. Alberta is so dry compared to Japan. I've been loading on the lip balm and the hand cream, but my throat is still suffering.

Anyway, that's it for tonight. I'll catch you tomorrow. Night.

December 27, 2010

Monday - Clear and sunny, crisp.

A good day. I got up around 8 am to take medicine and discovered that no one else was up. I went upstairs around 9 and Van was there. I had breakfast and then came downstairs for a while.

Van, the kids and I went out after lunch to the bank and the drugstore. I bought some lipstain so I'm going to try it out and see if it'll work. I have the darnedest time keeping lipstick on.

It was a quiet day here at Van's. We took down the tree and took down decorations. Van did a lot of the work, but Kate and I did some too.

Van made a roast for dinner and we had a good meal.

After dinner I did laundry and then we all settled in to watch The Last Airbender. It was fun, especially since Zach decided to do a lot of Airbender moves throughout the movie. I got a big kick out of it, but it was a bit annoying for the rest of us on the couch.

After the movie most of us went our separate ways. I'm downstairs in the basement, but I'll probably go to bed soon.

That's it for me. I'll be back tomorrow night, most likely! Night.

December 26, 2010

Sunday - Cold but clear, snowy at night.

A bit better day. I went to bed at midnight last night and basically slept until 9 am this morning. Joe cooked us all breakfast which was nice.

He took me to the drugstore and I got some medicine and a magazine. Yay for cheapo magazines again. I took a long nap this afternoon, even though the medicine was supposed to be non-drowsy. I think it helped me because I felt a lot better when I got up.

In the evening, we had a light supper and then watched a couple of movies. We watched Eclipse, which was just as bad as the book was, and then Despicable Me which was a lot of fun. A lot! At the end, there's some dancing from some of the characters so Zach got up and went prancing around the living room. It was so funny.

And that's about it. It was a quiet day, but good. I'll likely take more medicine soon and then go to bed. My sister gets a bit annoyed with me for staying up as late as I do, although I try to tell her this is nothing compared to me in Japan!

Night!

December 25, 2010

Saturday - ? Didn't go out again.

Do not feel well. Darn. I have almost no voice at the moment. I did have a good night and a good day today, just lost my voice somewhere along the way.

I got up a little before 7 this morning and went upstairs after I got dressed. We gathered around the tree and spent the next while opening presents. It was a kind of Star Wars Christmas, as the kids got a lot of Star Wars related gifts. My handmade gifts seemed to go over well and so did the hat that I bought in Tsuruoka for Kate. She wore it most of the day.

Joe cooked our lovely Christmas dinner. He made turkey with stuffing, yams and potatoes. It was really delicious and something I haven't eaten in ages.

We had a quiet afternoon. The kids played with their games and we all got in on the act. It was fun.

In the evening we had leftovers and then watched a movie. It was The Sorcerer's Apprentice and was quite a bit of fun.

I decided to make an early night of it tonight, so I came downstairs at 10 and have been having quiet time ever since. Tomorrow I hope to get out and get some more medicine as I have used up a bunch of Van's.

That's it for me. It was a great Christmas. Night!

December 24, 2010

Friday - Cold and windy, warming up later on.

I had a quiet day today and didn't even leave the house again!

Everyone got up fairly late-ish. I showered this morning and then went up and had breakfast. I finished my crochet project too. I had finished the crocheting bit last night, but today I darned in the ends.

I helped Van a little with her clean up. She's a bit paranoid that people will think she's a bad housekeeper. She's not, she just has three mess-makers, and she worries too much.

Anyway, Joe's brother came over for a while today. He brought presents for the kids and Van and Joe. I haven't seen him in a long time. I disappeared a bit in the afternoon to get away from everyone, but it was okay.

In the evening Van made a sort of finger food dinner, and we ate in front of the TV. It was basic family stuff, but really nice. The sort of thing that I don't get in Japan.

We watched The Polar Express and then the kids went to sleep. We adults are still up so we can help Santa when he comes. Hopefully he'll remember this house! Zach went out a few hours ago and put out some reindeer food, and there are already cookies and milk for Santa on the coffee table. The kids are so excited. (Me too!)

Anyway, I should run. I'm not sure what tomorrow's plans will be after we open presents. I'll post tomorrow night if I feel the urge, otherwise, I hope all my readers have a Merry Christmas (or have had one, in the case of readers from Japan!) Night!

December 23, 2010

Thursday - Clear and sunny? (I didn't go out.)

A weird day.

I got up this morning and realized that my throat was really sore. I went into the bathroom and the room was spinning around me. Yikes. I ended up going back to bed for a while. Van gave me some medicine and I took it. It made me sleepy so I went to bed and slept for hours!

I got up in the afternoon and helped Van prepare for her visitors. It was nice.

I came downstairs and did a bit of crocheting. Today I managed to finish one of my crochet projects and then I started another. It is going quite well.

I went downstairs before the visitors came and did my project. I came up for a while and had some pizza with the guests before begging off. They had 3 children and mixed with Van's kids were rather noisy.

I spent the rest of the evening downstairs. I enjoyed watching The Princess Bride again, and now I'm working on my last pre-Christmas project and watching Nanny McPhee. Colin Firth and Emma Thompson. What a combo!

Anyway, I really should get some sleep soon. I am a bit tired and tomorrow might be a long day. I really hope I'm not sick tomorrow. Sigh. Night!

December 22, 2010

Wednesday - Cold and clear

A busy day. I went to bed last night and watched TV. I fell asleep and woke up a couple of hours later with the TV and the lights on. Sigh. I ended up watching the end of Criminal Minds before going to sleep with the TV off!

In the morning I got up a bit late and had breakfast. We had a quiet morning. I did some wrapping of gifts and after lunch, Van and the kids and I drove into the city. We went to a couple of stores where I got a few things. In Mark's Work Wearhouse, I got some socks for me and something for F. Then, we went to a Zellers and Kate and I went shopping while Van and Zach did grocery shopping. I got a few unmentionables, Kate was a bit bored, but I was glad to have her around.

We drove back to Beaumont and then relaxed for a while. After Joe came home, he took us all out for dinner to Boston Pizza. It was nice! I had an interesting meal. It was bacon chipotle pasta. Really it was just souped up macaroni, but it was good. They gave me too much as well, and I didn't finish it.

When we came home, I went downstairs to wrap presents. After a while the kids came downstairs to do their mother's gifts, so we had a fun time. Zach got a bit overtired and was acting up towards the end, but it was still nice to have them with me for a change.

After they left, I finished more of my wrapping and then started crocheting again. I hope I can get this thing done! I'm so tired of it and I want to finish. I ripped a lot of it down today as it was wrong. I'm working on it again though and am close to where I was.

I watched a made for TV movie on the telly and sort of enjoyed it. It was a made in Canada one, but okay for the season. I'll probably go to bed fairly soon.

Gotta go. Night!

December 21, 2010

Tuesday - Cold but clear and crisp.

A good day. I got up fairly early this morning and had breakfast. I got ready to go out. Van took the kiddies to their respective schools and then dropped me off at Kate's school. She took me into the office and we waited until the teacher came to meet me.

I went to the Grade Eight class and talked to them about Japan. It wasn't a real lesson, it was a bit of a mish mash. I taught them some simple Japanese, talked about living in Japan, showed them pictures and at the end gave them some Japanese food. They liked the gum, hated the nori and really liked the dried squid I took! That surprised me quite a bit. It was fun, and the kids seemed to enjoy themselves. I had much more I could tell them, but hopefully it'll be a good promo to their next unit on Japan.

Van and I went shopping after she picked me up. I love going to the grocery store here. There is just so much I want to look at and ooh-and-ah at and buy! I got a few things like gravy packets today. Yay for me.

We came back to Van's house and I made soup while Van did her workout. I chopped veggies and meat and threw it all in her slow cooker. Yum.

I had a bit of a quiet afternoon until the children came home. Then Zach got a bit rambunctious but no big deal really.

We had dinner around 6. The soup was so thick it was like a stew, but it was great. Very good really. We cleaned up a bit afterwards and then went out.

We drove over to Candy Cane Lane. It's a famous street in Edmonton where the residents all decorate for Christmas. Some of the houses were amazing. They were really funny or gorgeous. On the way back to Van's we drove around Beaumont and saw some of the places that had decorated here.

We started to watch Live Free or Die Hard but I was falling asleep on it. I decided to come downstairs and blog and maybe get an early night. I'm so tired. I feel more jet-lagged now than I did last week! I'll likely get some sleep soon. Last night I came downstairs, got into bed with the TV on and woke up at 2 am with the lights on and the TV still blaring away. Sigh.

Got to go..yawning away. Night!

December 20, 2010

Monday - Clear but cold. Bracing!

A good day. I got up early enough to say goodbye to the munchkins this morning. After that, I had breakfast then took a shower. My friend came to visit me around 10 and we left the house.

We went to the bank first and then we drove into Edmonton. We went first to IKEA for a quick visit, then hit up Additionelle. I did really well there and got myself a couple of pairs of jeans and a lovely black dress, plus a few unmentionables! We went next door then to see Cotton Jenny Plus. We both did well there too. My friend bought my purchases there for me as my Christmas present. Yay! It was very nice of her.

We had lunch at Earl's. We both had salads. Mine was gorgeous. It was a spinach salad with chicken breast and bacon. There was also brie and dried fruit too. So good. I ate the whole thing, even though it was huge. We had dessert too. So nice.

We hit up London Drugs and then Best Buy. I managed to get the dvd I was really looking for. I didn't get another one I wanted, but oh well. I picked up Grosse Pointe Blank and Let the Right One In. I'm looking forward to seeing the latter especially.

We drove back to Beaumont and had coffee at Tim Hortons, then she drove me back to Van's.

In the evening I had dinner and then played a bit with Zach. After a bit of time downstairs on the computer I went up and watched a bit of TV. I got cold, so came downstairs. I'll probably go to bed soon. I was hoping to do some crochet or wrapping, but I am really tired.

Tomorrow I go to Kate's school to talk about Japan. Hope I feel like it then! That 's it for me. Night.

December 19, 2010

Sunday - Cold and snowy.

A good day today. I got up this morning and had a lovely breakfast provided by my brother in law. He cooks on Sunday mornings.

I spent a lot of today playing with Zachary, then went out with Van to get a few groceries for dinner. While I was at the store I picked up a few things for a basket of goodies I'm giving to a relative in a few days.

I helped Van with dinner when I came back, before taking a break to do laundry.

Dinner was great. We had roast beef and mashed potatoes, plus salad and butternut squash. Yum. I helped a bit with the clean up and then came downstairs to do some gift wrapping. I got a bit done, but I have a lot more to do.

I'm still up late watching silly TV (it's in ENGLISH) and waiting for part of my laundry to finish drying. I'm yawning away here though.

Tomorrow if the weather is okay I'll be out with my friend, hopefully shopping and maybe seeing a movie if we have time.

That's it for me for tonight. Got to go! Night!

December 18, 2010

Saturday - Cold and sunny, with a little bit of snow

Had a great day today. I went to bed rather late last night, but still woke up quite early, earlier than at home! I was up around 7 and made my first public appearance around 7:45am.

We had breakfast at home and a bit of dancing in the kitchen. Kate and I love music and dancing, so she put on some tunes and we had our own disco/karaoke in the kitchen. So much fun!

We went to see Zach play soccer this morning. I had been dreading it, but it was fun. Zach is the youngest on his team but he is the same size as the older kids. He played very well, as did the rest of his team. They managed to win 2-1 in quite an even game. Zach was the goalie in the second half.

Van and Joe took the kids and I out for dim sum. Yum! We had a lot of good dishes, including shu mei and steamed rice.

After lunch, Van, Kate and Zach and I went to Southgate Mall to do a bit of shopping. I bought a calendar, Kate did some shopping and trying on of stuff, but really the only thing that was bought on this trip was a new pair of boots for Zach.

We came home and vegged for a while before dinner. After dinner, Kate and I took on Joe at Trivial Pursuit. In a very close game, we managed to win. We were both quite happy with ourselves.

We watched a movie later on, but I fell asleep on part of it. It was very confusing. I think it was interesting, but with big gaps in it, I couldn't figure out what was happening.

Tomorrow I'm not sure what I'll be up to. I thought I'd go out with my friend, but she's busy, so I think I'll stay at home and do the family thing maybe. Anyway, I'll talk about it tomorrow ! Night.

December 17, 2010

Friday - Snowy and a bit cold

I had a good day today. I woke up around 8:20 this morning, a bit earlier than I usually do in Japan! I stayed in bed for a bit, but got up after a bit. Van and I chatted and I showered. Van was working out but got a call from the school. Zach wasn't feeling well, so Van went to pick him up.

We went out later to the drugstore and to the grocery store. I always feel a bit strange when I go to a Canadian grocery store. There is just so much stuff. Aisles and aisles of stuff that I want to buy. It's so different from Japan!

We came back to Van's and I helped Van prepare some veggies for dinner tonight. She was making vegetarian lasagna, so I chopped a bunch of veggies. I took a nap after a bit as I was really tired.

Van woke me up for dinner and we all had a family dinner. The lasagna was really nice, and I had some bread and salad. Major yum.

After dinner I showed Kate the stuff I'm bringing to her class, and then we started to watch Pitch Black. I started to fall asleep after a bit, so we stopped the movie and I decided to come to bed. However, I'm blogging and watching Buffy!

I will get some sleep soon. Night!

December 17, 2010

I made it safely to Canada. Planes were delayed, bags were delayed, but finally I made it. I'll update more as I can.

December 14, 2010

Tuesday
- Clear in the early part of the day, rainy at night.

A good day.

I got up and watched the news this morning, followed by a bit of TV. It was all quite interesting.

I worked on and finished my latest Journal submission. A couple of the movies, well, one in particular is a bit out there, but it is a favourite, so what the hay. I sent it to the editor. Done!

I made lunch for myself then went on my merry way to work. I left a little early as I wanted to do some paperwork at the school. I started the heaters up and got to work. I did a bit of cleaning first and then I got out my financial books and did them up as far as I could. They aren’t completely done for this year, but other things will go through my accounts so I can’t do it yet.

I was all ready and waiting for my 6 pm student when she called to say that she couldn’t come again. However, she did ask if she could come by my school after my other class to drop off a book . Of course I didn’t mind.

My other class went well and we had a great discussion. We worked quite hard too. After that class I quickly cleaned up and waited for the other student. She came bearing gifts! She brought a winter gift for me and the book I had loaned her. I gave her another one in exchange. I told her that I hoped to see more of her in the next year.

After she left, I changed and called F. I invited him over for coffee. He came, which was really nice. He helped me put away my Christmas decorations. I took them down before he arrive, but F packed them away for me. Yay! I did dishes, unplugged most things in the school, and turned off the water.
F had wanted to go for soba and sushi tonight. I didn’t really because I want to stay away from anything that might upset my stomach. I told him I’d go to the place with him , but I probably wouldn’t have sushi. The place was closed so it was a moot point anyway.

We ended up going to Cocos for some fairly decent food. I had chicken with basil sauce and F had a nabe. He gave me part of his, which is not what I wanted. I didn’t mind tasting it, but I didn’t want a bowl of it.

We came home and watched So You Think You Can Dance. I did a ton of crocheting and found out that I hadn’t bought enough yarn. Sigh. The project is only about 5 or 6 inches short. I’ll have to go to the wool shop tomorrow to see if I can get the same dye lot. If not, I’ll have to pick another colour and stripe it. It’ll look cute but will be more work. SYTYCD was really good tonight. Almost all of the couples did really good work. I wouldn’t like to be a judge this week!

I watched Project Runway while I was reading blogs tonight. F is off work tomorrow and it’s always a crapshoot whether I can watch the things I’ve taped when he’s around.

Anyway, that’s it for me for today. I won’t update tomorrow night as I will hopefully get some sleep. If I can, I’ll update from the other side of the ocean, across the mountains and into the flatlands!

In case I don’t have the opportunity to blog later on, I wish all of my stalwart readers a Merry Christmas (or Happy Holidays if you prefer) and may 2011 be a fabulous year for you and yours.
Good night.

December 13, 2010

Monday - Rainy.

An okay day. I overslept a bit this morning but I really didn’t care that much. I got up, watched the news and an Italian cooking show that I watch but would rarely ever try the recipes, and the watched my weekend’s TV programmes. I had a good morning.

Later on in the day I wrote another Christmas card, printed out some pictures for Canada and ran off to the post office. I sent the Christmas cards, but couldn’t send the nengajo. He said it was too early. Hmm. Really?

I came home, detouring through a convenience store for some food. Once home, I vacuumed and then went back to my printing. I also started working on my column for the Journal.

In other words I was rather busy!

When F came home we went to the supermarket and bought a few things for dinner. We had our dessert planned, but not our main course. F bought tempura and I got some roast beef. We came home again and while he took a nap I set the table and got dinner set up. I made some wasabi-mayo and sliced some bread for our dessert. I beat a few eggs in the process too. When I called F through, we had roast beef on crackers with wasabi mayo, salad and F had some tempura. I’m trying to stay away from really greasy food like tempura, so I passed on it. Dinner was nice, but afterwards I was a bit full, so waited a little before cooking dessert.

Dessert was French Toast. Rather a lot of French toast, but it was good. F did the dishes, which was nice of him as I know he wasn’t feeling too great. This weather and time of year are hard on his back. Poor guy.

In the evening, F watched skating and I wrote more of my column. I put it aside at 11 and watched Hell’s Kitchen and started my latest crochet project. It’s going very fast, but I think I have to get more yarn. I probably didn’t buy enough. I hope I can get the same dye lot. I’ll know more tomorrow, as I’ll likely crochet through So You Think You Can Dance.

I came back to my computer and have been here ever since. Whew! I feel like I had a busy day.

Tomorrow I’m back at work. I have two evening classes then I’m done teaching for the year. I can’t believe this time has passed so quickly.

Talk to you tomorrow, most likely. Night!

Oh, PS...My last entry got spammed by the people at Uniqlo because I mentioned them. Guess what? I didn't approve their comment. Let's see if it happens again because I mentioned them again!

December 11, 2010

Saturday - Clear in the morning, torrential rain in the afternoon, hail at night.

A good day. I got up this morning, watched news and then took a shower. I was planning to cook my brunch when F called to say he was finished work and was coming home. Yay!

He came home much earlier than he expected he would and so we went to Gusto for brunch. After that, he dropped me off at my school.

My first class was great as usual and my student and I had fun. After her class though, I got really busy! I washed all the towels in the school and while they were in the machine, I washed the dishes. I did paperwork, I set up the calendar for next year for the door, I worked on my Journal entry, read the newspaper, drank some tea, prepped a couple of classes for next year and even got a phone call from a student.

My last class went well and we finished the year on a good note. After her class, I quickly did up paperwork and then I called F. He was on his way to my school. Argh. I wanted him to come and get me, but I had a few things to do first. He has a tendency to do that, just show up and not wait. He even tries to get into the apartment without knocking. I keep it locked when I’m alone silly man!

We drove over to the theatre, bought our tickets and then had dinner at the restaurant in the theatre building. They had taken off my favourite dish-a stirfry- so I had carbonara instead. It was okay. F had curry.

I bought the popcorn and drinks and then we went in to see our movie. I had been looking forward to seeing Robin Hood for ages, but it wasn’t very good. I’m afraid I was rather bewildered by the whole thing. I liked the cast, but they threw in a whole bunch of things that didn’t belong. It wasn’t even that much fun. So, a big disappointment for me.

After the movie we came home via the grocery store and watched Top Gear. Tonight there was a race from London to Oslo by car and ferry. It was rather fun.

And that was it. My day. I stayed up far too late doing internet stuff and blogging, but no matter. Tomorrow I don’t have too many plans. I just have to get my suitcase packed so I can send it to the airport. Got to go. Night.
