Saturday - Hot and sunny

A good day.

I got up this morning and watched a cooking show, then made the bed and took a shower.  When F came home from the doctor and dentist, I made some tea and we relaxed for a minute.

F wanted to go to the Fish restaurant again, so we did.  It was okay, but again, too much food.  Or maybe too much fish for me?  I like fish, but I don't need 3 different kinds in my meal, ya know? Anyway, it wasn't awful and F was happy to have a good meal, so really I was quite happy about it all.

We went to a drugstore after lunch, then came home for a while.  F suggested going to karaoke, which we did at the Internet Cafe.  We were able to get in right away, BUT it was in a smoking room.  After an hour and a half of singing, I couldn't take it anymore and asked if we could leave! The room smelled and I just wasn't feeling it. My throat was getting dry all the time. We would have gone to the massaging chairs for a few minutes, but only one was available, so we just left.

We decided to have an early dinner, so I suggested Fireball.  We drove over there and got a table.  We had the set menu again, and each had a different type of pasta to share.  F ordered a pork and eggplant spicy curry pasta, and I had a fish and vegetable pasta in a cinnamon cream sauce.  That was really nice.  Our dinner was lovely and we were quite stuffed afterwards.  We came home and had a  quiet evening in.

We both watched Sherlock tonight.  I did a couple of rows of my shawl during the show.  It was really good…all about John's wedding and the mystery that went on before and during it.  At times, Sherlock seemed almost normal!

And that's about it for my day.  F is supposed to get up early tomorrow and go out and pick grass or something around the apartment.  I'm not intending to go…it's starting around 6 in the morning.  A little too early for me.  I'm hoping to go and see the new X-Men film tomorrow afternoon, if things go well.  Come back tomorrow and see what I get up to.  Night!

Friday - Muggy, but hot and sunny

A good day.

I got up surprisingly early today…8 am and started on my soup.  When I woke up then, I was going to go back to sleep, but realized that if I got up then I could do many of the things I needed to do today without the time crunch. So I did.

I didn't expect to be peeling potatoes at 8:30 in the morning, and yet, there I was!  I prepped the veggies and even parboiled them, ditto the chicken, and threw them all in my slow cooker and just left them for the rest of the day!

I even managed to have my breakfast on the couch during Charmed today.  That was a nice break after making the soup.

In the afternoon, I scanned my cards and stamped them, then cycled off to the post office to mail them.  Before I left, I put on a new pair of pants.  My BFF and I each got a pair of summer calf length pants for $2:00 at a shop in Canada last year.  Today was the day that I first wore mine…and they were cool.  F didn't like them that much, but I did!

When I came back from the post office I swept the lobby and then came into the apartment.  F was quite late tonight, he got back after 6:30.  When he arrived I got dinner into gear.  I reheated the leftover curry from a couple of night's ago, served out the soup and we had a yummy meal.  I had curry over pasta again, plus salad, F had his over rice.

He did the dishes and later on I washed my slow cooker.  We had a quiet evening in, it was nice.  F went to bed early, he has to be up early tomorrow morning to go to the dentist again.

That's it for me really. It's been a quiet evening, but night.  Tomorrow I'm not sure what I'll get up to.  I do plan to be Sherlocked at 9:00 pm!  Got to go.  Night.

Thursday - Hot and sunny

A good day.

I got up this morning and sat on the couch for a while with my crochet.  I did a little, then read the paper and had breakfast.  F did pop in for his obligatory visit, but didn't stay long.

In the afternoon I watched some TV and later on I cut up a couple of T-shirts.  I was hoping to be able to do another one, but F came home from work!

Tonight we went out for dinner but not to the place I thought we had agreed upon. However, we went to a really nice place, Futaba.  We had quite a nice meal there.  We started with a plate of hors d'oeuvres and it got better from there!  I had chicken and it was gorgeous and tender and yummy, F had fish and he said he liked it.  We both had soup and bread or rice.  Yum.  We finished with coffee or tea afterwards.  Everything was great.

We went to the grocery.  I'm going to try and make soup tomorrow night, so we'll have soup and leftover curry, plus a salad on the side.  I think it'll be good, but I can't help wondering when I'll get all of this done!

Anyway, that's about it for me.  I had some computer trouble tonight, but I got it working again. Whew!  Still, my computer is basically an OAP so I may have to replace it soonish.  I wrote out a couple of postcards that I'll scan and send tomorrow. Catch me tomorrow night and find out how much of this I get done!  Night.

Wednesday - Hot and Sunny-Gorgeous day!

A good day!

I got up early this morning.  Surprisingly early to be honest.  I took an early shower and even watched Bewitched too.  Charlie's Angels was in Hawaii today…it was funny seeing how blotched and sunburnt everyone was! And surprisingly on Charmed, one of the guests was Amy Adams, the future multiple Academy Award nominee!

I did my usual things, did a little crafting, and even had a bit of lunch.  At a little after 2:00 pm I went out.  I rode out to the Machinakine Theater and got lost!  Seriously, I went down the wrong road and wasn't sure where I was.  I found myself soon enough, but it was funny.  I stopped into a bakery for a few things to eat and then went on.

I went to see One Chance, the bio film of Paul Potts.  He was the Britain's Got Talent star whose audition for that show became a YouTube sensation.  For a lowish budget show, I really enjoyed it.  One of my favourite things was that this was real people.  Not just real because this was a true story, but real in that they weren't spies, or police or crooks.  Anyway, it was fun, the music was great too.

I came straight home afterwards and oiled my bike when I arrived. Yay me.  F called a little later to say he was on the way so I made a pot of peach oolong tea to have in the evening.  I also made a start on dinner.  Even though F offered to cook it, I did it tonight.

I made curry.  I know, no big whoop, but it was my first time in a long time.  I found a recipe for it in a Japanese Cook Book and basically followed it with a few additions.  I had mine on pasta, F had his on rice, and even had two bowls!  That surprised me.  It was good.  There's a bit leftover too, so I might have it for lunch tomorrow.  Might.

In the evening I finished up my hot pad and worked on my shawl.  I did a couple of rows of that.  It's going well too.  I'm just wondering if I'll actually make the whole thing of if I'll run out of yarn first!

And that was my day.  It was pretty good.  I probably won't get up so early tomorrow, at least I hope not, but it did seem to give me a bit of energy.  I'm not sure what I'll get up to tomorrow, perhaps a bit of crafting.  Come back and see!  That's it for me.  Night.

Tuesday - Hot and sunny

A good day.

I went to bed early (for me) last night as I wasn't feeling well, and woke up feeling much better this morning.  I got up before my alarms went off and went to the living room. I put on Charlie's Angels, but fell asleep on it. I only woke up when F came home for a minute.  I'm glad I woke up as Dirk Benedict was on…he was a baddie, but it was lovely to see him.

I had a quiet morning, read the paper, ate breakfast, the usual.  I had just got dressed and made the bed when F called and invited me out to lunch.  Well, I said no. Nicely, actually.  I had some plans for the afternoon.  I also had leftovers from last's nights dinner, which were yummy!

I scanned the cards I wrote last night, plus one more, then hurriedly stamped them and headed out.  The plan was to take the cards to the post office, check the overseas postcard rate was correct and then scoot off to the movie theatre.  However, the guy at the post office was slow and working by himself, so I didn't really have enough time to get to the movie in time.

I changed plans and went to Kaneta instead.  I looked for, and found more cotton t-shirts for my project, so I bought a couple and then came home.  I washed some clothes, and also worked on my hot mat.  It's coming along nicely.

F came home while I was still working on it, and proceeded to put chemicals down all our drains.  Apparently the powers that be will be doing a drain cleaning in all the apartments and he wants ours to get a head start!

We had a nice time, I fed F a freezie kind of thing that wasn't great, and we watched the comedy/kids shows on D-Life.  Around 8 I said we should go out for dinner.  F wasn't feeling that great, so we ended up going to Cocos.  He had his rice porridge with eggs and mushrooms, I had chicken with a basil sauce.  It was quite nice.

We came home via the grocery store.  F wants curry, which I don't really, but whatever!  I'm also going to make it tomorrow so that should be exciting for a change!  I found my Japanese cookbook that does basic stuff.

In the evening we relaxed.  I started a new shawl out of my bought tarn and watched Criminal Minds.  F set up the bread maker with some bread for tomorrow and then went to bed.

I'm not sure what I'll do tomorrow.  I might go to the movie if I have time and the weather holds, I might stay home and work on one of my many projects!  Come back tomorrow and see what I get up to.  Night!

Monday - Muggy then very rainy at night.

An okay day.

I woke up a couple of times this morning, once when F came back to the apartment for a minute, and then again when my alarm went off. I got up and lazed around for a while.  I ate breakfast and worked on my crochet project a little bit.  Yay.  It went fairly well.

I was just about to jump into the shower when F called to say he was coming home for lunch.  He offered to bring me something, but I turned him down.  He arrived a bit later and had his lunch.  I didn't eat then as breakfast was too close.

I was just going to eat around 2 when guess what.  F came home again.  He was waiting for someone who wouldn't be finished for some time.  I put off my lunch again.

When F was gone, I had a bit of toast and some leftovers, and called it lunch.  I did the dishes too.  After I was done, I realized that I really wasn't feeling well.  I felt a little dizzy and drained.  I decided to go to bed for a lie-down when F called to say he was coming home.

I was on my bed when F came home and was happy to stay there for a while. F was very nice to me and we chatted for a while.  He had to do some business with a neighbour but when he was done I decided to get up and cook dinner.  I took things easy and didn't stress out about dinner too much.  I made tandori chicken from the grocery store, gnocchi and gorgonzola sauce and salad for dinner.  The timing worked out and we had a nice meal.

After dinner, F started not feeling well, in the same way I did.  He said he felt a bit dizzy too.  He did the dishes anyway and then relaxed on the couch.

We had a nice but quiet night.  F watched boxing…I watched CSI and The Newsroom.  I enjoyed both of them.  F is off to bed now, and I'm thinking I might go there soon too.  I'm tired and don't want to get sick at all.

Tomorrow it depends on the weather what I do.  I might go out if the rain stops for a while, or I might just stay at home and craft.  Come back and see what I get up to.  Night!

Sunday - Muggy but still sunny, hot

A mixed up, not good day.

I got up this morning and discovered that F was up and cleaning the rest of the bathroom.  He completely changed the way that we store the items that we need in there and really made me angry.  I have been keeping cleansers and soaps for laundry in a bucket.  It's waterproof and very easily portable.  F decided to take all of them out of the bucket and put them higgledy-piggledy in a box.  A big box, along with his junk from the room.  Now we have all kinds of chemical stuff in a cardboard box in the bathroom.  Where there is water.  Also, the box is really heavy.  Is he going to be around to move it?  I think not.  I wanted him to clean the crap that he has by our KITCHEN SINK…not the bathroom.

I was furious this morning.  I went back to bed and dozed longer.

When I got up, early for a change because F had said that he wanted to go for Genghis Khan for lunch, I told him a couple of things.  I was worried that his stomach would get upset from the fat, and I was worried that MY stomach would get upset.  He was displeased with me, and started to demand I name other places that we could go for lunch as I would never agree to go with him.  I named one place so he wanted to leave RIGHT NOW to go there.  Now, it being Sunday, there was a good 75 per cent chance that it was closed, so I knew he'd make me come up with another idea.  I just couldn't do it.  He said he was going to go out. I told him okay, have a nice lunch and he ended up going back to bed.

We went on like this for far too long.  I ended up having some cereal and yogurt, he made himself ramen and that was that.  I read the paper.  We were supposed to go and see the Tenjin Matsuri Parade, but when I opened up the room door, I was thoroughly ignored until after it started.

Finally after more yelling and nastiness, I suggested going for tea to the little coffee shop just down the road.  We went there, had a lovely "cake set" and from there walked back and went to the park.

We saw a few of the shops at the park, made our way through the throngs of people and then came home.  We were friendly until F suggested going for dinner.  He wanted to go to the fish place at Sakata Port.  I refused.  He said he'd go anyway.  I wished him a good trip. He demanded ramen, I wished him a good dinner.  He didn't leave.

I ended up suggesting a place in S-Mall.  We went there.  F had his ramen, which he didn't like and I had pasta, which I did like.

From there, we bought him some undies and then went to the theatre to see 12 Years a Slave.  It was a very good movie.  It was a difficult to watch film, but worth it really.

We came home via the grocery store where F did his "I don't care" routine for tomorrow's dinner.  So annoying.  Honestly, I wish he'd give me the money to buy food and just wait in the car.  I'd do the shopping ten times faster, and way more cheaply.  There wouldn't be any bloody ramen bought either.

Anyway, that was my day.  I am so glad that it is over.  F just doesn't get me at all.  I wish I understood him better.  Gotta go.  Night.

Saturday - Hot and sunny

A good day.

I got up this morning and watched Gordon Ramsey, then made the bed and took a shower.  F had gone out early to go to the dentist, then he planned to take his dog to the vet.  The vet wasn't open, so F came home and did more of the cutting grass.

We went out for lunch to a new place for us. It was a Japanese restaurant and it was good.  I had chirashi sushi and F had tempura.  The meal was really nice.  We left and then came home.  F planned to go out to the vet around two, so we ended up taking a nap.  We were both really tired!  When I woke up he was gone.

I got busy though.  I went into the bathroom and spent the next hour or more cleaning the sink and the area around it.  I threw out a bunch of things that I'd been keeping only because I didn't know what else to do with it and got the area spick and span.  I took my iPod and a little speaker I have with me, so I had tunes while I was working.

F came home a bit later and when I finished in the bathroom I asked him to go out for dinner.  We tried to go to one place, but it was really busy, so we went to another.  We went to a little Tonkatsu shop, a one man restaurant.  We were the only customers in the place, but had a lovely meal.  As F said, with a bit of surprise, I had two Japanese meals in one day!  It's not common.

I wanted to come home right after dinner, because I didn't want to miss a minute of Sherlock, which was on tonight.  I made some tea for us, and when F came back from the grocery store we had tea and I got set up for my show.

I started watching Sherlock.  I've had a note on the calendar for at least 3 months and have been talking about watching it all day.  F decides that now would be a good time to use his scanner.  What the hell?  I told him that I was going to watch with headphones on, and did.

Sherlock was great!  I really enjoyed it.  My big beef with it though is that on NHK they change all the subtitles/texts to Japanese…which I'm not great at reading.  Sigh.  Still…it was fun, and I'm glad they didn't completely explain away how his "death" was done.

After the show I took off the headphones and watched some other TV.  F and I had a nice evening.  I watched Gordon Ramsey's other show, Hotel Hell and it was quite cool!  He swears and shows his butt.  Strange!

And that was my day.  Tomorrow I might get up early.  F is talking about going out for Genghis Khan, but honestly, I'm not sure that I want to.  Mutton in the morning isn't really what I feel like eating…ever.  Come back and see what I get up to.  Night!

Friday - Cloudy, but warm

A good day.

I overslept again today, but got up quickly and did my usual morning things.  I had a good morning.  I had breakfast, read the paper and watched my shows.  Yay.

I had just made the bed and changed into some house clothes when my phone rang.  My husband was inviting me for lunch. I decided to go out with him, so changed again and got ready to go.

We went to the local Chinese restaurant and had an okay meal, then he dropped me off at home.  In the afternoon I scanned my cards and did a few things on the net.

I ran my postcards off to the post office and then when I came back, I did the lobby sweeping.  That done, I came into the apartment.  Fumihiko came home fairly early tonight and he did some grass cutting for the apartment building.

A little later on, we went out for dinner.  I suggested a few places but then F suggested going to Jiro, so that's where we went.  We had a nice meal there, and then bought a few groceries and came home.

We had a quiet evening, we watched a bit of TV, and had a nice time.  I think we really needed it for a change.

Tomorrow I'm not sure what we'll get up to.  The third season of Sherlock comes on finally, and I know we're planning a bit of cleaning in the morning, or whenever F is finished at the dentist and vet.  Come back tomorrow night and read about my day! Night.

Thursday - Muggy with a touch of rain

A quiet day.

I had another lovely quiet morning.  I got up late though because I had turned off my alarms the day before.  Oh noes!  I got up and watched my shows, had breakfast and started a new project.  I have the tricky bit left to do, but it went well.

In the afternoon I decided to go out, so I did.  I rode to the mall, had a snoop around the hundred yen shop, then had a tea and a sandwich in the coffee shop.  That was nice.  I cruised the grocery shop looking for something interesting, didn't find it, and then came home.

At home I decided to do something useful, so I vacuumed the apartment, then watched a bit of TV.  F came home and he seemed quiet but in an okay mood.

Close to 7 I decided to make dinner, just leftovers from yesterday.  I asked him if he wanted any but he said no.  I had some of yesterday's casserole on toast.  It was still just okay.  I don't think I'd bother with that recipe again.  Sigh.  I had to add a bit of sriracha to make it at all interesting.

After I ate, I washed up the dishes and then left the kitchen.  He made himself some noodles later, but didn't seem too hungry.

I wrote a couple of postcards tonight and watched a bit of TV.  F was okay, I was okay.

Really, that's about it.  I can't report anything exciting, but I can't report anything bad either.  That is rather nice! Tomorrow I hope to finish my little craft project, write a couple more postcards, and go to the post office.  Wish me luck with it all!  Night.

Wednesday-Rainy, then clearing

A strange day.

I got up this morning, had a lovely day basically.  I did some laundry in the afternoon, got an early start on dinner…and then F came home.  Sigh.

He said that he wasn't feeling well and he was incredibly grumpy too.  When I asked why he was grumpy I was yelled at and told he wasn't grumpy.  Er…excuse me?

Anyway, he opted out of dinner…the dinner I had just spent an hour prepping.  That made me so happy.  He did claim to have an upset stomach, so who knows.    I kept on cooking and he had a lie-down and then came back to the living room.  He waited until I had eaten and  washed all the dishes before he made his dinner.  If you guessed he had ramen, give yourself a gold star!  And, my casserole?  It was okay, but not great.

I toodled around with some crochet, attempting different ideas for using my tarn. I tried a couple, but I took them back.  I think I have finally decided on a good idea though.  No comment what it is yet though!

I also realized today that my presentation is in one month from today.  Ack!  So much to do!  Must work harder!

I think things are okay with F, I sat with him a few minutes and talked to him.  With the rainy weather, his back issues are happening again.  I think he was just feeling anti-social today.  He went to bed fairly early again, and I am not upset by that at all!

Tomorrow I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I should do some housework and some crochet, but I might go out for a bit.  I'll have to think about it! Come back and find out what I get up to!  Night.

May 20, 2014

Tuesday - Warm & Sunny, bit muggy

A bit of a downer day.

I got up this morning and came through to the living room to watch my shows.  I enjoyed my morning, it was quiet and I had a nice breakfast.

Later on, I made the bed, got dressed and decided to dig in and finish up my Tarn bag.  I was working on it when F came home for a few minutes.  He had come to pick something up.  He left a little later.

I finished my bag, and it looks great.  I am quite proud of it to be honest.  Yay me.

F came back one more time as he was waiting to drive people nearby.  It was nice to see him, except it wasn't!  I like my own time.

I went out to the post office and got myself some stamps today.  I decided to try to use the exact amount instead of overpaying.  The lady in the post office waylaid me a little though, she showed me a new mini-sheet of stamps, from Yamagata-ken.  One of them even has the Mt. Haguro pagoda on it. How could I not buy them?

Instead of going downtown, I just came home afterwards.  I enjoyed my time, watched the US news, the usual.

F came home and was in a grumpy mood.  He was all sixes and sevens.  He seemed worried and agitated, I wasn't sure why.  We finally decided to go out to dinner, but he wouldn't suggest anything, and made me choose.  I chose two local restaurants that I like and thought he did two.  He said one was okay, but then started complaining about how expensive it was, and how he could only afford gyudon or ramen.  Nice.

We got to the restaurant, were seated and F started in about how he didn't have money for dinner.  I asked if he meant that he forgot his wallet or if he didn't have enough money with him.  He meant that we couldn't afford dinner.  Well, that was a fine time to discuss it.  He could have suggested a cheaper place in the car on the way over, but no.  I told him I'd pay for my own meal, but he spent most of the time there staring at the tablecloth.  I tried asking him what he was angry about.  He very angrily told me he wasn't angry, so I stopped talking too.

Dinner was fine.  I had dadacha-mame pasta with a salad, tea and dessert.  F had curry and rice with tea and dessert too.  It was very nice.  It wasn't THAT expensive, not cheap either, but quite reasonable.

We came home via the grocery store where I got almost the same treatment from him.  I bought some chicken, yogurt and broccoli and I'm not quite sure what I'm going to do with them…eat the yogurt for breakfast definitely!

He was pretty grumpy at home too.  I'm not sure what was up with him.  He went to bed early and that was a good thing.

We're all entitled to a grumpy day now and then, but I'm expected to do the whole Japanese mind-reading thing with my husband and I just cant do it! I hope he's in a better place tomorrow.

That's it for me.  Tomorrow I'm not quite sure what I'll get up to. Hopefully it'll be fun.  Talk to you tomorrow.  Night!

May 19, 2014

Monday - Hot and sunny

A good day.

I went to bed early last night and couldn't fall asleep. I was tired, but I was also cold.  I ended up getting up and taking the blankets off the couch and putting them on my bed. I was able to sleep the.  F and I both woke up around 5 am and he told me I should have taken some of his quilt, but he had it hanging off the other side of the bed!  I couldn't do that.

I had my usual quiet morning, I took a shower after my morning TV and then watched Suits.  I've seen the opening two episodes at least 3 times now, but have never managed to see the rest of it! F came home for a few minutes in the second one.  He was driving nearby and had a few minutes to spare.

In the afternoon I went out.  I wanted to go to the craft store and the drug store.  I biked off.  I hacked around the craft store, I bought a few things for my craft workshop. I need to figure out how I'm going to use them though!

In the drugstore I got a few things for myself before setting off back towards home.  I stopped in at McDonald and had a very late lunch.  It was okay, but the store was full of teenage boys, not my favourite beasts.

I came home and unwound, and a bit later F came home.  He said that he was in a good mood, but he really wasn't.  He was having one of those flustered days when he couldn't really relax. He wasn't too impressed that I was using my computer so I asked if he'd like dinner.  He would.

I cooked tonight and I made soba fettucine with carbonara sauce plus baby leaf salad.  It turned out quite well. Everything disappeared!  F did the dishes, which was nice of him.

We had a quiet evening.  I helped F do some printing, but then I had to help him format his printing first.  That made it a lot of fun. Not.  Still, it got done, and I hope he's okay with everything.

I watched Lost and then The Newsroom at 11.  I love The Newsroom.  It is an Aaron Sorkin drama, so what's not to love?  Tonight, Jane Fonda came in at the end and was magnificent.  It has been a long time since I've seen her look so good and act so well. Brava to her I say, brava!

I also did a bit of my crocheted bag tonight. It is almost finished.  I had to add in more yarn so I wanted to let the glue have a chance to dry before I worked more of it.

And that's about it for my day.  It wasn't too bad at all.  Tomorrow I may go out in the afternoon if I feel like it.  I shouldn't really, but with the nice weather, I really want to be out and about.  Come back and find out what I get up to. Night.

May 18, 2014

Sunday - Gorgeous, sunny and warm

An oddish day!

I slept in today…but it was still morning when I got up!  I made the bed first thing, and then reheated some tea for us both.

F was going to take a bath, but kept putting it off and off.  Finally, he did go and take it. Yay.  Then we talked about where to have lunch and I suggested Pisolino, the pasta & pizza buffet place.  I had received a 500 yen coupon from them, so thought we should go and use it.  He agreed.

We drove over there and had a good meal.  I had a basil pasta with fresh tomatoes and shrimp that was nice, F had gobo and chicken and liked his.  We shared a pizza with tarako(fish eggs) on it. I don't generally like them, but the texture was okay today.  We both ate too much, but I don't think I overdid it as much as sometimes!

I wanted to go to karaoke today, so that's what we set off to do.  F wanted to go to the Internet Cafe for karaoke so I said okay.  Of course, when we got there, the karaoke booths were full and we'd have to wait for an hour to go.  We ended up going to the massaging chairs again, except of course there was only one available at the time.  Grr.  I had to go to a reclining chair for a while.  Somehow F forgot to ask the woman to let us know if a karaoke booth became available.  It wasn't as bad as it seems and I was able to move within the first hour, but I was really in the mood for karaoke.  I watched a silly little movie, a made in Canada cheapie that was fun and referenced a lot of Sci-fi movies, so I enjoyed it.  It was called End of the World and had Greg Grunberg in it.  He is from Heroes and Lost…he was the hero and wasn't bad.

After the movie ended I realized that 3 hours had gone by, so talked to F and we decided not to leave until 4 hours passed.  We did, but I think we were a little late.

We had a very fast and light dinner at Kintaro Sushi, but not the one we usually go to, the farther away one.  It was a good choice as we were still not very hungry from lunch.

We did a little shopping in Yamaya and MaxValu tonight.  We're going to have dinner at home, soba fettucine and salad I think.  I hope it goes well!

We came home and I watched a little TV, but not much.  I tried to watch a movie, but I couldn't get into it at all. Mistresses at 11 was a bit better for my attention, but probably not for my mind!

That's about it for tonight though.  It was an okay day. I am sorry that I didn't get to go to karaoke.  F has had a cold for a few weeks so we couldn't go before today, and we couldn't go today.  Got to go. Night!

Saturday - Rainy and cold

A good day.

This morning I got up to an empty apartment.  I tried to watch Gordon Ramsey's cooking show, but the reception was terrible.  I made the bed and after a bit took a shower.

I was nearly dressed when F came home.  He'd had a busy morning replete with doctor's offices, and taking his mother shopping.

We had some toast and tea and then F surprised me by asking me to go for lunch to a fish restaurant that we hadn't gone to before.  We went there and it was okay.  I had a kind of pickled salmon set meal.  We got a lot of food for our ¥1000.  There was rice, sashimi, cod soup, chawanmushi, turban shells and stingray.  I tried everything, but didn't like the turban shells.  F got two of my three.  There was so much food, I was too full!  The downside for me was that they didn't have English-style tea on the menu.  The drinks on offer were coffee, or orange or grapefruit juice.  I try to avoid citrus these days.

We came home and F took my bike to the bike shop.  A little after he came home, I went to bed to sleep.  I slept for a couple of hours.

When I got up, we decided to go to a movie.  I sent F off to pick up my bicycle.  He brought it back and told me that I might have to get new tires soon as the tread is very worn down on the ones I have.  It makes me think about perhaps getting a new bike.  Perhaps.

We went out to have dinner before the movie and although we were headed one place, I asked F if he'd like to go somewhere else on the way.  We ended up at Bikkuri Donkey!! and it was a good choice.  I had hamburg steak with pineapple on it, F had a curry dish.

We went over to the theatre to see the movie.  The parking lot was full.  Apparently there was a festival nearby and people were using the theatre's parking spaces.  We used the overflow and got one of the last spaces!  There was a problem with F's customer card, so it took a few minutes to get everything sorted, but then we went and sat in the lobby.  Machi-kine is showing a film featuring jelly-fish, so in the lobby there were two tanks set up with jellyfish in them. F and I sat near them and took lots of photos.

The film, Do You Know My Name?, was a documentary about a programme designed in Japan to reverse the effects of dementia.  The documentary took place in the US at a nursing home and the results were very promising.  There were a few problems with the film as a film, but the  actual subject was interesting.

After the film, we came home and watched some TV.  We checked out Gordon Ramsey's Hotel Hell tonight and it was quite funny, sad and scary.

That's about it for my day.  It was quite good really.  I have no idea what I'm going to get up to tomorrow.  Come back and find out! Night.

Friday - Rainy

A good day!

I got up early this morning for a change!  I even made the bed early, and got dressed too.

I had a quiet morning, partly on my computer, partly on the couch.  I even scanned the postcards that I planned to send in the morning.

I had planned to go out, but the rain came up when I wanted to leave, and Four Weddings and a Funeral was on NHK.  What to do?  I haven't watched it in ages, so enjoyed myself immensely.  I got very verklempt during the funeral again.

Later on, the rain didn't let up.  I went out to the lobby of the apartment building and did my sweeping.  I think I saw almost all of the female neighbours today!

When I was done, I came back in and thought about going out, but didn't.  The weather never did clear up.  I did a bit of crochet and waited until F came home.

He came home quite late, with an interesting story. He'd witnessed something strange this morning while he was driving, so he called the police.  He had to wait until they came so part of his driving was an hour late.

I cooked dinner tonight, it didn't take very long.  We had salad, kabocha, and salmon meuniere. The later was from frozen fish and it was nice!  During dinner, the police called F a couple of times.  He was asked to go to the police station later in the evening.

I did the dishes tonight while F got ready to go out again.  He left and was gone for well over an hour making a statement.

I spent the time watching TV and taking care of my internet addictions!  I had some tea and relaxed.

F came home again, and after some TV, is now getting ready for bed.  He has some things he has to get done this weekend, and even talked about taking my bike to the shop tomorrow.  That would be lovely!

Anyway, that's about it for me.  I had a good and quite productive day.  Tomorrow, I hope will go well too.  Night!

Thursday - Cloudy, then rainy

An okay day.

I overslept a tad, but got up and vegged on the chesterfield.  I snoozed through some TV but woke up enough for Friends and Charmed!  I read the paper, ate breakfast and opened up the hems on some t-shirts.

Later on I did a few household chores and then took a shower.

In the afternoon, I was just going to leave to take my bike to the shop when of course, it started to rain quite hard.  Sigh.  I decided to stay home.

I cut up two t-shirts and then started to crochet more of my bag with one of them.  I didn't like the results so I ripped it back and then doubled it up.  I'm liking it a little more now.  I stopped when F came home around 7:30.  He was quite late tonight.

We had a bit of a spat when we tried to decide where to have dinner, but thankfully it blew over quickly.  We drove to one place, but it was closed, so we ended up at the Thai restaurant.  We ordered 3 different dishes and shared them tonight.  We picked good ones, so it was quite nice.  We had mixed stir-fried vegetables, Thai-style yakisoba and barbecued chicken.  I liked everything that we ordered.  Woot!

We came home via the grocery store and then the gas station.  F had forgotten to buy gas earlier on.

Oh, and big news from yesterday…F found his car keys!  They were in a drawer of his, that he didn't look in, or he missed when he was searching the apartment for them.  I don't care, I'm just glad that they have been found!

That's it for today.  Tomorrow I hope to be able to sneak out and get my bike fixed, after that, I'm not sure what I'll do.  I need to do more crochet, the apartment needs a bit of work, and so does the lobby of the apartment. I also have to scan some cards and run them to the post office! Wish me luck with it all! Night!

Wednesday - Hot and Sunny, muggy

A good day.

I got up a little late this morning, but no worries.  I watched a bit of TV, turned on my computer, and got on with my day.

I had a quiet, same as usual day for most of it.  I went out in the afternoon.  I had to pump up my bike tire so it looks to me like there is a puncture in my tire.  Sigh.  I biked to Kaneta and had a look around.  They had some men's shirts there and I picked up a couple of shirts for my craft work.  I brought them home and they are now in the process of drying!  I'll hopefully be able to cut them up tomorrow or the next day.

I came home and threw the shirts in the washer, then relaxed for a bit.  I had a nice afternoon.  F called me just before 6 and said he was on his way home.  When he arrived, I welcomed him and then got started on dinner.  It was a simple one, but good.  I did basil chicken, couscous, asparagus and salad.  F didn't have the couscous, but that's okay, all the more for me!  Dinner was nice, we both enjoyed it a lot.

F did the dishes, I did the frypan later.  We settled in for a quiet evening.  F watched some TV, I listened to music on my computer.

It was a nice, quiet evening!  Tomorrow, I'm not sure what we'll get up to!  I should take my bike to the bike shop to get fixed. If I have time, I might got to the mall, or I might do some craftwork.  It just depends how I feel and how the weather is! Come back tomorrow and see what happens!  Night.

Tuesday - Hot and sunny

A good day!

I got up before 9 and went through to the living room. Unfortunately, I ended up dozing for the next hour, but I was up!  I did a little bit of work on my craft projects, then had breakfast.

After a while I took a shower, watched Heartland and then made some plans.  I decided to go out for a little while.  I planned to bike over to the bank machine, but when I got on my bike, I discovered that the back tire was flat.  Oh no!  I pumped it up and hoped for the best.  I did pump it up last week, and I may have loosened the valve, so I tightened it up today.  I'll check it tomorrow and see.

I rode off to the bank, then stopped at McDonalds. I thought I'd finally try their avocado burger.  BUT…when I got there, they didn't have it on the menu. I had just checked the website for it so either my local restaurant doesn't have it, or the special is over.  I spent a bit of time reading my Journal for the last month. It was nice.

I came home and finished unpicking a hem and then cut up the t-shirt. I started on another one and F called me to say that he'd finish work soon and would like to go to the movie tonight.  So, I kept working, but he was home before I was quite finished.

We changed or got ready and went out. We had decided on going to Cocos Ichibancho Curry and it was quite nice.  The handmade chicken cutlet was on special so I had that. It was quite good.

We arrived a little early at the movie, but went in to the lobby and had a snoop at the upcoming films.  There are some good ones coming up soon.  We went to see American Hustle and I rather liked it.  The actors were all great and the writing was good.  I really enjoyed it.  It wasn't the greatest movie ever, but I did like it a lot.

We visited the grocery store after the movie and got ingredients for tomorrow night, then came home.  We had a quiet evening at home, except I watched a bit of TV.

Overall, a good day.  Tomorrow I want to work on my project, but I also have an idea to go shopping for some low-cost T-shirts.  I'll see what happens!  Wish me luck.  Good night!

Monday - cloudy & rainy

A good day.

I got up before most of my alarms this morning and came through to the living room.  I should have taken a shower, but I didn't. I watched my shows, had some breakfast and then got dressed.

In the afternoon, I scanned some of my cards and also a few postcards and photos that I brought back from Canada.  It was fun!

I got ready to take my stuff to the post office, I went outside and was just undoing my bike lock when I heard the tapping sounds of rain on the roof of the shed. Darn it!  I checked for rain, it wasn't strong, but I decided to just chuck it in for the night.  I'd ask F to mail my cards on his way to work.

I came inside and watched a bit of TV and relaxed for a bit. I searched for some recipes for dinner, watched a bit more TV, the usual.  I was waiting for F, but he didn't come home until after 7.

In his absence, I had cleared and set the table, and had begun to gather my ingredients for dinner.  When he came home, I got set up and started cooking.

Tonight's dinner was French Toast, and it was yummy.  We had it with bacon and salad, plus canned peaches for dessert.  F was a bit of a goof though.  When he finally came to the table to eat, he started to pick up the French Toast like it was regular toast.  He was in the process of bending it in half when I told him off!  I said to use his knife and fork!  I think he must have been tired because he has had French Toast before!

We enjoyed dinner, and F did the dishes. Yay.  The rest of the evening was quiet. I watched a bit of TV, including Lost.  Last night when I watched it, they said that next week it would be on at 5 in the morning.  Like I'm going to stay up that late!

In the evening we had some quiet time. I am looking forward to cutting up some t-shirts tomorrow as they are finally dry.  Then I can get crocheting and hopefully finish off my bag. Come back tomorrow and see how I get on.  Got to go.  Night!
