Saturday - Rainy, cloudy and humid

I woke up around 7:30 because F’s alarm went off. F was nowhere in sight. He’d gone downstairs. I was not best pleased. I turned off the alarm and then when he came back into the room I grumped a bit before I fell asleep again.

I slept in quite late today, which is something that I wanted to do. Yay me. When I did drag myself out of bed. F wanted to know where I wanted to go for lunch. He let me know that he didn’t want to eat this afternoon. Oh dear. 

I finally fixed on Mon Ami, the restaurant in the Daiichi Hotel in S-Mall. I’d picked up their menu for their weekly specials and today’s looked interesting. It was chicken in a lemon butter sauce. F drove me to the hotel and basically dumped me off. I thought he’d come in, but he decided to go back to the house and get his phone. Then, he said he’d wait for me outside the mall. Sigh. 

I went into the restaurant and had a lovely meal. The chicken was excellent and it was just nice to have good food and no fighting over it. When I left the restaurant, I paid, got a small discount as I have a membership card, and then I went out into the mall. I made a quick trip upstairs to Daiso, the hundred-yen shop. I picked up a few things and then went out to the car to see F. He wanted to go back to the house, so that’s what we did. 

I went upstairs and spent time in our room. I was surprised that F didn’t come upstairs and nap. He wasn’t doing that well. I told him to make sure to drink a lot of water yesterday, but he didn’t drink enough I think. Finally, after his mother came back to the house he came upstairs. He wasn’t doing well, so I gave up the idea of going to see the movie. Then, he said that he could go and have a massage at 8pm. I said that if he did that, he could take me to the cinema first so that I could go and see Terminator 2. That is basically what we decided to do!

F tried to feed his mother, but she wasn’t hungry tonight, so he left her alone. We decided to go out for sushi, but on the way there changed to gyudon because we thought it was quicker. It probably was! I had a gyudon with three cheeses and a salad and miso soup, and F had gyudon with a raw egg, miso soup and pickles. 

We left and F drove me over to Machi-Kinema and I went in. I bought my ticket and a drink to have during the movie. They don’t have proper popcorn at this cinema so I didn’t have any of that either. So, how was Terminator 2: Judgment Day after all these years?  Really good. It holds up amazingly well. Recently I have hated James Cameron’s films, but this was good. 

After the movie, I went to the washroom and then went outside to see if F was there. One of the guys had to let me out, I guess I was the last person in the cinema, barring staff that is. Luckily, F was outside in the car. I went over and as I got in, I knocked off the drink holder that F attached to the car. It fell on the ground outside the car. F wasn’t pleased. I picked it up and gave it to him. Honestly, I rarely use the holder. I hope he isn’t too angry about it. He said he wasn’t, but I don’t know. It was dark in the car.

We came back towards the house. I said I wanted to get something from a convenience store and as we made to turn into one, we noticed the gas tank was nearly empty. F said he’d fill it tomorrow, but I reminded him that we have friends coming over and he has to drive us somewhere. He might not have time to go out first. He decided to take us to the gas station after the conbini. 

F filled up the car and then we came back to the house. I started my waterpot and a little later went downstairs to take a quick shower.

After my shower, I ate my yaki-udon from the conbini and then did a bunch of things on my computer. And now you are caught up.

Tomorrow I have an early start, but not as early as my friend’s. Her son is playing baseball at the park nearby, so she’ll come out with us and have lunch. We’ve already made reservations so it should go well. Hopefully, F will feel better by then.

Friday - Hot and Sunny, humid too

I woke up this morning just after F left this morning, but was able to fall asleep again until my alarm went off. I got up, went downstairs and then came back upstairs and had a little longer snooze too. 

I got up finally and took a load of laundry downstairs and started it in the washing machine. Then, I grabbed my breakfast and took it upstairs to eat. I watched a little YouTube and the news as well. I hung up the laundry and relaxed a bit.

I grabbed my lunch and brought it upstairs to eat. I was happily watching my daily episode of Major Crimes when F called. He’d already finished work. He’d planned to take one hour off work but ended up taking two off. Woot. We agreed that he’d go and find a couple of bentos for his mother, one for dinner tonight, one for breakfast tomorrow. 

The nice thing about F taking extra time off was that he didn’t have to rush to get ready. I didn’t either. I decided not to dress up since he was wearing jeans and a T-shirt, I wore jeans and a shirt. The taxi arrived a little early but K went into the washroom just as I was going to use it, so I had to wait to leave!

We had a good if long trip to The Grand El Sun and were able to go to the Beer Hall right away. We checked in and were given our table assignment. We were lucky enough to have a small table right at the front for ourselves. Most people had big tables that they had to share with other people.

The food was pretty good, it was buffet-style. The only problem was that the first time I went up there wasn’t any fried chicken and most of the paella was already gone! F went off to get himself beer and I grabbed him some paella. We did that a few times over the night, we would grab food for the other person. It worked out well. F had a lot to drink, and I had no alcohol. Not a problem. I had some water and a couple of oolong teas so I was fine. Oh, and some non-alcohol sparkling wine…basically grape juice! They had some special food available at times, there was roast beef and cold shabu-shabu and a while later there was ramen. F had quite a bit of that!

We called a taxi just before 8 pm because the party was over at 8:15, so we walked towards the door so we could get our taxi. We had to wait a few minutes and were able to talk to some of the staff at The Grand El Sun. Some of them helped us with our wedding, so they were quite happy to see us. They had to work very hard for me because I didn’t speak Japanese (and still don’t) and I was also a plus-size bride which wasn’t a usual thing back then! Probably still isn’t, but times are changing in Japan. 

The taxi came and we came back to the house. We briefly talked about going somewhere else, but F had a lot to drink and I thought going to karaoke would be tough on a Friday night without a reservation. 

K was still up so we said hello and then came upstairs. We just relaxed for the rest of the evening. I took a nap for 40 minutes and then got up and did the computer thing. I also watched the last episode of Season 4 of The Boys. It was good and horrible and terrible all at once. I enjoyed it, but now I have to wait for the next season. Darn it. 

And that’s about it for my day. It was pretty good and I hope that we are able to have a decent weekend. I’m not sure if we’ll see a movie or not, I just hope we don’t argue. We do have plans for Sunday, so that will be good.

 Thursday - Hot and Humid, cloudy

I woke up fairly early this morning. F had already left, but he hadn’t turned on the AC. I slept a bit longer and then got up and went downstairs. I turned on the AC because it was too hot as usual. I saw that F had left his thermos behind so I thought he might come back and get it, but he never did.

I dozed a bit longer then went downstairs to get my breakfast. I checked K’s food supply and she had eaten some of her breakfast and some of her lunch! It’s quite funny at times. 

I ate my breakfast, watched the news and some YouTube and then buckled down and finished my column. I even sent it in to the Journal Editor so I’m free now. Woot!

I went downstairs and made my lunch. I saw K make a washroom run while I was down and I tried to talk to her. I had to wait. Then I asked her if she’d like her gyoza now. She said yes, so I heated them up for her and brought her a plate for the sauce and her chopsticks. She said it was too many for her at first—there were 6…I told her she could just eat half of them…but later when I checked, she had eaten them all. I’m glad that I was able to give her extra food today. Some days I see her looking for food and I feel bad that I didn’t buy or make her a big enough lunch. (Although some days I wonder if she’s just bored or forgotten that she has eaten.)

I ate my lunch upstairs and watched an episode of Major Crimes. It was quite good…the detectives are not too happy having a new boss and the old detective wants to quit because he thought he should have been the new boss. 

I had a bit of quiet time before F called to say he was on the way back. I went downstairs to get started on dinner. Tonight we had toaster oven chicken with French fries, tuna and macaroni salad, cucumber pickle with the last of F’s sister’s cucumbers, and salad and for a change, most of it disappeared! K had more fries and all of the cucumber was eaten tonight. Yay. 

I did the dishes. There weren’t that many, but I was so hot in the kitchen that I didn’t want to do anything! I finally had to. I listened to a couple of podcasts while I worked and then I went upstairs when I finished. F had already left, and K had gone to bed, so I was done! I took a can of root beer up with me. I enjoyed it so much.

A bit after 10 I took a shower and then came back to the room and watched The Rookie: Feds. It was quite a good episode again. The lead worked with the team that she was originally assigned to and realized that she would have learned something from them too. That was a neat idea for a show. 

F is in bed and sleeping I hope. I have to get to bed soon. I should say that tomorrow night F and I are going out to a Beer Garden at our Wedding Hall. Depending on how I feel when we finish, I might not post tomorrow night. If I’ve had a great time and drunk a lot I might just go to bed…but….you never know. I rarely drink so I’m not sure how likely it’ll be.

Wednesday - Hot and humid

I woke up early this morning, probably a bit after F left. Unusually, he hadn’t turned on the AC for me. I made a trip downstairs and then went back to bed and napped for a while. 

I got up later, dressed and then went downstairs to get my breakfast. While I was in the kitchen, I heard K and F’s sister come back. I went to the door and let them in. After that, I went upstairs to eat. 

I had a fairly quiet day today. I watched some YouTube, I watched the news from the bed because I didn’t feel that well for a few minutes. Later on, I went downstairs to get my lunch. After I came back upstairs I decided to watch Major Crimes. I saw the end of the series and loved it, but I didn’t see the beginning of it. I’m not sure how much I’ll watch. I enjoyed it though.

I worked on my column today and I think I finished it. It isn’t the best one I’ve ever done, but it is okay and I tried hard not to write about films that I always write about! I’ll review it tomorrow and then send it in.

F called me around 5:30 and said he was on his way back. I changed, went downstairs and got started on dinner. K’s sister had given us some cucumbers from her garden so I decided to just make cucumber sticks with them. It was a good call as they were lovely. Our main dish was gapao rice and it turned out well. I used my new egg rings to fry the eggs in and they worked quite well. There was a little bit of leakage but generally, they were good. 

Dinner was pretty good tonight and everything was eaten. Hurray!

After dinner, I did the dishes and then did the garbage up in the kitchen. I was quite busy and it was hot, even though I had the door into the living room open with the AC on in there. I got the garbage ready to go out and then I went upstairs to change my clothes.

F and I went over to MaxValu and I went in the shop. I picked up stuff for tomorrow’s dinner and my lunches. I also got something for K’s lunch tomorrow too. 

We came back to the house and I came upstairs and relaxed. Usually, I take a shower tonight, but I decided not to as I’m going out on Friday. I’d prefer to have one tomorrow night. I won’t be buying groceries either, so that will be good! I watched the new show Wild Cards. It was okay. It isn’t the best show ever, but it does have potential. It’s also filmed in Vancouver, which is really cool

And, that’s about it. Things are better today and I’m glad, to be honest.

Tuesday - Hot and humid, rainy at night

I woke up this morning early but went back to sleep for a little longer. I ended up getting up after my alarm went off. I got dressed, went downstairs and grabbed my breakfast. While downstairs, I prepared lunch for K. For a while I’ve been thinking about putting her stuff on a plate for her. She seems to eat more when lunch is on a plate, so I did that. (It worked!)

I had a quiet morning, I watched some YouTube and then the News on TV. I decided that I’d do a load of laundry. I went downstairs, put my laundry in the machine, and started it. I heard F come into the house and go upstairs. I went upstairs and he had brought me some ice cream. I gave him a little kiss and said thank you. He chatted for a minute, ate his ice cream, and then he left without saying goodbye. 

When my laundry finished, it was also time to get my lunch so I made it too. I brought it upstairs and checked out my computer version of the channel where my show was on. It looks like they only have the show's first two seasons, and I’ve already watched them. Bummer. I really enjoyed it. Maybe I can watch it a bit later somewhere else. 

F called me after 5 to say he was on his way back. I went downstairs after a bit and then started cooking. Today I did a stir-fry and I also made a pickle with cucumber without using a spice packet. I thought it was good. Dinner was quite good, but there were leftovers afterwards. 

I did the dishes and then went upstairs to relax. I watched a little YouTube and then Resident Alien at 11pm. It was very funny tonight. That show gets better and better!

That’s about it for today. Tomorrow I have to cook dinner again and do a bit of shopping at night. I also might do some laundry, I’m not sure.

 Monday - Rainy, thunder, sunny early on

Well, things are a little better today. I woke up when my alarm went off, and I got up. I didn’t go back to bed and it is probably a good thing as F came back and came into the room. He didn’t talk to me, but he only stayed a couple of minutes in the room. 

I had a fairly quiet day today. I did a load of laundry, so exciting! I hung it up in our room and then grabbed lunch. I tried to watch an episode of The Good Fight, but something has gone wrong on the website and I can’t bring up the right episode anymore. I tried, but I may have to try doing it on my computer so that I can use the translation app to see what is going on. 

When F came back tonight I asked him if he would take me to the grocery store tonight. I needed to get food. I asked him if he wanted me to cook dinner tomorrow night and he said yes. Before we went to the store, F made his mother dinner. As I suspected, he hadn’t left anything for his mother’s lunch today. I didn’t really see her today, so I couldn’t offer to make her something.

We drove over to the PAL shopping area and I went into the grocery store. I bought food for the next couple of days, but somehow forgot to buy myself bread! I asked F to make rice for the next couple of days for dinner. 

I put the groceries away and heated up my bento. I came upstairs and ate. I took a shower around 10 pm and then returned upstairs and watched an episode of The Boys. I only have one more left. 

Since midnight I have been watching some YouTube and working on my blog. F went to bed quite a while ago. Things aren’t back to normal yet, but they are getting a little better.

Sunday - Rainy and Cloudy with thunderstorms 

Well, today didn’t get any better. I stayed in bed quite late because why not. 

I got up and dressed and waited to see what was going to happen. Nothing. That was the answer, nothing. 

I didn’t really have lunch. Later in the day F asked if I wanted to go out for dinner and I said I would. He said that he was going for ramen and he started recommending that I have it too. Of course I wasn’t interested in that at all and said so. I asked to be dropped off at a place I’d like. He made it seem like he would do that. 

I got into the car and he announced that he was only going to a ramen restaurant and would not drop me anywhere else. Since he had just pulled out of the yard, I made him stop the car and I got out and went back into the house. 

I made myself a chicken bagel and had some cheese with it. That was my dinner. It was good, but not really enough. 

A while later F came back and of course didn’t talk to me. On one of my trips downstairs I checked the fridge to see if F had bought groceries for tomorrow and he hadn’t. He did get something for his mother’s breakfast, but not for her lunch. I hope he doesn’t think I’m going to make her something to eat. There’s nothing that I could make anyway.

So, I’ve basically had a wasted day. I have been thinking about going away for the next day or two but it sounds like the trains are a bit iffy at the moment because of the rain today. Sigh. I might see if I can get out of here and get some supplies for myself. 

Anyway, that’s about it for me for today. It’s been a crap day again and I can’t help wondering how long this is going to go on.

Saturday - Hot, muggy and cloudy. Some rain.

I woke up this morning when my alarm went off. I had to get up fairly soon afterwards. I got dressed and did a couple of shirt changes. I met my friend a few minutes after 10 and we drove over to Gusto and had breakfast together.

After we had a nice breakfast, she drove me back to my doctor’s office and I met up with F. We went in and did the doctor stuff again. It was as boring and as horrible as usual.

We had lunch at Nagomi today. F wanted to have noodles so I suggested it. It wasn’t good. F said it was because soba wasn’t in season, but really I think it was just that I didn’t want soba!

After lunch we went to an old style Japanese coffee shop and had kakigori. It was really nice. We came back to the house afterwards and relaxed for a bit. F had told me the day before that K’s Case Worker was coming over at 5 pm. Well, she was late. F and I were waiting in the living room for her. When she arrived, F commanded me to go and get drinks. Huh? He hadn’t even mentioned that to me before she arrived, and there was a lot of time to do so. I’m not your bloomin’ servant dude. 

I brought the glasses and a bottle of tea I had in the fridge and put them on the table. Then, I realized that F had moved into my chair. Why? What? I had enough and I just left. I went upstairs.

A bit later F came upstairs and tore a strip out of me. I was rude, it WAS my job to serve drinks, etc. etc. etc. I didn’t care. I’m really upset with F.

I basically was ignored for the rest of the night. Of course I wasn’t taken out for dinner, I made my own from some things I had on hand for situations like this. 

It’s been a quiet evening here. I did watch a little TV at 11 but nothing much else. I imagine that tomorrow will be much of the same. I most likely will be here tomorrow night, but in case I’m not, don’t worry, I’ll show up in a few days.

Friday - Hot, sunny & humid

I woke up around 7:30 this morning but then went back to sleep for a while. When I woke up later it was 29 degrees in the room. Yikes. The AC went on right away. I thought my friend might visit me, so I didn’t stay in bed as long as usual. I got dressed, had my breakfast and then relaxed. I was supposed to do laundry today, but I didn’t. 

In the afternoon, just before I grabbed my lunch, I decided to text F. I was friendly and talked about how hot it was today. He wrote back and was equally friendly. We chatted a bit. At the same time, I heard from my friend and she had made a mistake with the day for her visit. We set up a quick meeting for Saturday. I’m going to have a busy day, especially in the morning.

F called to say he was going to call the bento shop. I asked him if he was going to have a bento too and he said he was. He’d planned what to get for himself and his mother and then called it in. I went downstairs a little later though and did my dishes from the day. 

F arrived with the food, so we gathered around the table and ate. My fried rice was very nice and I think we all liked the food. My choice wasn’t the greatest, but it was fine. The kimchi was quite spicy. After dinner, I washed the glasses and the bento boxes, and then headed upstairs.

I relaxed for a while, F was relaxed too.  All of a sudden, F decided that he was going to go shopping. He did ask if I wanted anything, but I just asked for something cold and sweet! I watched some YouTube and did other internet things while he was gone. 

He brought me some chocolate ice cream, so I enjoyed that with some tea! 

I took a shower and then came upstairs and decided to watch a movie off the Fire Disk. I watched a new movie on Amazon Prime called Jackpot! It was quite silly and just about what I needed on a night like tonight. It had Awkwafina and John Cena. She won a lottery, but if someone killed her before sunset, that person would get her money. It was quite funny in that it was played for laughs. Yes, a lot of violence, but again, mostly for laughs. It was an enjoyable little movie. It was also nice to see Simu Liu in it as well.

And that was my day. It turned out much better than I thought it would be. It was at least two degrees hotter than yesterday, so I say it was a good call for me not to cook today. It would have been quite horrible cooking this evening.
