Monday - Rainy with clear patches

A good day.

I got up early this morning.  I was lying in bed and couldn't go back to sleep so thought I might as well just get up!

I watched my morning TV and had breakfast. I had a quiet morning really…I kept checking to see if the drain inspectors were coming, but they never did.  I didn't want to be in the shower if there were going to be strange men in the apartment.

In the early afternoon, F came by bringing an icy treat for me.  That was nice…it was a nashi flavour and it was good.

I had a small, late lunch and then watched a really weird Canadian movie called Antiviral.  It was from David Cronenberg's son, which might give you an idea of how weird it was.  I didn't really get it, I lost the plot thread towards the end.

F came home a little late today, around 6:30.  When he came back I got into dinner mode soon after.  I washed some blueberries, prepped the asparagus and then set the table. I prepared and then started to cook our chicken tonight too.

We had a nice dinner…we had dessert for a change too, so we both enjoyed it.  The chicken was nice, but a little salty.  I used a spice packet, but it had too much salt.  F had his chicken with rice and said it was fine that way.

F did the dishes, I did some crochet and watched Lost for a while.  The reception tonight was horrible.  I watched a bit of TV too, including NCIS and Damages.  I made us some tea or cocoa earlier on and that was nice.  I think F will have his bath soon and then it'll be bedtime.

Tomorrow is Canada Day.  I am pumped, but sad!  I don't have any plans to celebrate it.  I am thinking about going out to a movie in the morning, and maybe doing something in the afternoon, but it'll likely be weather dependent.  It isn't much fun biking in the rain.  Still, I could do it if I want to!

That's it for me.  Come back tomorrow night and I'll fill in the details!  Night.

Sunday - Warm and Sunny

A good day!

I slept in a bit this morning, but got up at 11:00.  Yay me.  I took a shower and then we went out for lunch.  F wanted to go to a fish restaurant.  The one that he wanted to go to was busy, so we went to another one.  It was quite nice.  We got a private room in the back, and had a good lunch. I had grilled salmon, F had sashimi and tempura.  He then announced that I had to share the tempura with him.  Hmm.  If I had wanted tempura in the first place, I would have ordered it!  I had one piece of kabocha tempura, called it a day.

We went to Komagi after lunch and bought some veggies for the coming week.  I got some zucchini, asparagus, green beans, garlic and broccolini.  I hope it'll be good.

We came home and just vegged for a bit.  I went to read on my bed, but fell asleep for a bit.  When I woke up, F and I decided to go for dinner to Komagi.  We had their buffet and it was fine.  I had chicken, quiche, salad and a few other things.  Dessert was quite nice too, and I didn't have to have anything with banana in it.  Yay.

We went to see Transcendence tonight, the Johnny Depp movie.  It had a really cool idea, but there were too many plot holes and things that made me say hmm.  I didn't think it was terrible, but I didn't think it was great either.

We came home via the gas station and the grocery store.  I'll be making some kind of chicken dish for dinner tomorrow night.  I hope that it'll go over well.  Wish me luck with it!

Well, that's it for me and my weekend.  It was actually quite good.  I'm glad because I have been getting very tired of having crap weekends because someone is in a snit.  I'll update tomorrow and fill you in on my latest news.  Night!

Saturday-Hot & Sunny, rainy at night

A good day.

I got up this morning, watched a cooking show and then got dressed.  F wanted to go out for sushi, so after a little that's what we did. We had a lovely lunch really.

After lunch I renewed my membership at the craft shop and then F and I decided to go for a drink.  We stopped by home first and I re-applied my new sunscreen.  It almost immediately started stinging my face.  Sigh.  I'm wondering if it is a mixture of the sunscreen and sweat or if I am really that allergic.  I washed it off.

We went to the internet cafe for 3 hours.  It was nice for a change, plus it was quite cool in there.  I watched some shows on the Mystery channel and read the newspaper, and got on with my little purse that I had put off for a while.  I had to re-watch the videos on You-Tube, but did it.

After our time was up, we drove off to Mikawa to see a movie and do some shopping.  I'm looking for a present for my niece.  I got one thing, but I'd like to find her something else.  Still, one thing isn't bad for a first shop.

We had dinner-bibinba and enjoyed it, did a little shopping and then came back to the theatre.  We saw "All You Need is Kill" or in the US "Edge of Tomorrow".  I rather liked it.  I'm into sci-fi of course.  It's quite intriguing to think of all the possibilities.

We came home afterwards via McDonald.  It was raining and I didn't want to get out of the car, so I convinced F that we should do that! He didn't really want to, and we don't usually, so I hope it'll be okay.

Came home and watched a bit of TV. I was prepared to watch Hotel Hell, but they put it on only in Japanese, which quite annoyed me! The rest of the night I watched a movie and decided to go to bed early-ish! That's it for me.  I have to go.  Night!

Friday - Warm and Sunny

A good day.

I had a nice relaxing day today.  I got up this morning, had breakfast, read the paper and ate some icy treat that F brought by!  I wasn't expecting him, but he came by.

I took a shower and afterwards scanned some cards.  I went out to the mall in the afternoon, but I forgot my book.

I had a tea and a sandwich in Doutors and hacked the mall a little.  I bought my dinner at Subway and then came home.  I arrived just as F was leaving for his party, so I was able to say hello and send him off with a wave.

I spent the rest of the evening alone and it was great.  I probably should have watched a movie, but I enjoyed some regular TV instead!  I had dinner, finished my book (Dust by Patricia Cornwell--Meh) and vegged a bit.  It was nice.  F showed up around 1 and is still up.  I hope he'll go to bed soon. I don't really feel like going yet!

No idea what we'll get up to tomorrow.  There are a few movies in town for a change, so I hope we'll go and see at least one of them! Come back tomorrow and let me tell you what I get up to!  Night.

Thursday - Warm and sunny

A good day.

I got up this morning and wasn't too tired for a change.  I took care of some business for my woman's group and then had breakfast.

In the afternoon I scanned my recent postcards and the ones I'm sending out.  I did up a birthday card for a friend and then the prize on my postcrossing blog.  I ran them all to the post office, mailed them all, and then came home.

I found a rather odd movie on and watched it.  It was Martha Marcy May Marlene.  It was very interesting and I think I'd like to watch it again now that I've read some of the views on what it all means!

F came home in the middle of the movie and watched it too.  I think he had forgotten that he was in charge of dinner tonight.  It wasn't until the movie was over that he started to cook.  We had Hakuba Soba, edamame tofu and roast duck for dinner and it was all very nice.  I did the dishes up afterwards because it was my turn.

We had a nice quiet evening in.  I watched a lot of TV because there were lots of things on that I like.  I figure that if I have to go to bed early, I'm darn well going to watch the stuff that I would normally watch late now! Does that sentence even make sense?

No idea what I'll get up to tomorrow.  I did write up 3 postcrossing cards so I'll have to try and send them off tomorrow.  I'm thinking that I might go and have a cuppa downtown or something. I haven't decided.  I'd like to finish my book too.  Catch me tomorrow night and find out what happens.  Night!

Wednesday - Warm and sunny

A good day, mostly.

I got up this morning and was half-asleep for far too long on the couch and in front of the computer.  It wasn't good, but oh well.

In the afternoon I found out about a mistake that someone had made and spent a couple of hours dealing with it. It involved making apologies for the person and trying to fix the problem.  I had wanted to do a postcrossing in the afternoon, but ran out of time.

When F came home, we relaxed for a bit. I had been watching The Cure, so F joined in.  It was a pretty sweet little movie.  When it was over, we started to talk about dinner, so decided to go out.  F wanted to go to a fish restaurant.  I said it was okay, so off we went.  It was closed when we got there, and Cocos was just across the street so we went there instead.

At Cocos, F ordered a small paella and we shared their special Brazilian barbecue.  It was huge!  I'm glad I didn't try and eat it all by myself.  It was very nice though.

After dinner, we went to see fireflies! F drove off to Yutagawa and we drove off the road, then walked into the trees.  We saw quite a few.  It was lovely really.  They are such interesting little creatures.

We drove back to Tsuruoka and bought a few things at the drug store and then the grocery store.  F is going to be in charge of dinner tomorrow.  I brought him some nama soba from Hakuba, so he'll make it for us tomorrow.  We got some roasted duck to go with it too.

When I came home, I found an email from the person I mentioned before.  I also did a couple of postcrossings.  One is going to Germany and another is going to France.  I'm glad, since both of those will probably arrive soon.

And that is about that.  I'll probably go to bed soon as I'm a bit tired.  I have a few things to do in the morning and afternoon, I hope I can get them all done.  Come back tomorrow night and find out what I got up to.  Night!

Tuesday - Cloudy and warmish

A quiet day.

I got up this morning and got dressed soon afterwards. It was a good thing I did as the delivery service arrived in the morning with my suitcase and box.  I wouldn't have enjoyed answering the door in my pyjamas!

I was so tired for most of the day that I found it hard to get moving.  I caught up on my reading emails and tried to finish my novel but still haven't.

In the afternoon I thought I'd check the fish grill as I wanted to use it tonight too grill zucchini.  Unfortunately, the smell let me know what happened.  F had used the grill over the weekend, but had forgotten to wash it.  Sigh.  I took it out to soak in the dishpan for a while.

F called to say he'd be late, and he was a bit.  He'd changed the car tires today.  I got started on cleaning the grill…not sure why I had to do it, but I did.  After the grill was clean, I got started on dinner.  I did grilled zucchini, sauteed chicken and salad.  It turned out really nicely.  The zucchini was nice!  I didn't have the "right" kind of spice, but what I used worked out well.

Dinner over, we had a quiet evening.  F is making bread for us for tomorrow and I made a pot of decaf tea earlier.  That was nice.

Tomorrow I'm going to try and get a load of laundry done, and maybe unpack my backpack.  I also hope to go out.  If the weather is okay, F is talking about going to see fireflies in the evening.  I'll fill you in tomorrow night.  That's it for me.  Night!

Monday - Hot and sunny

And a great time was had by all….

I'm back from Nagano and Niigata.  I had a lovely time, luckily didn't get sunburnt or bitten by the nastiest bugs.  I had a great trip down to Hakuba with my friend and a great trip back to Niigata with her too, so that was lovely.

Our travel went very smoothly, and really, so did the convention.  I did a workshop on making tarn (T-Shirt Yarn) and while it wasn't a very popular one, it was fun.  My lovely boa was a big hit, and so was my silly flowery headband.

I met with many, many people and spent time with some amazing ladies.  I wasn't able to spend as much time with my close friends as I wanted, but they were all busy too so it didn't work out that well.

In Niigata last night, I decided to stay in and not go to an expensive movie.  I got a movie card, and watched Catching Fire. It was good, but I don't know if it was the TV or the movie itself, but it was so dark I literally didn't know what was going on all the time.  I fell asleep on Lost last night!

I got up this morning, didn't have breakfast in the hotel, checked out and parked my backpack at the hotel.  I had a light & late breakfast in a very cool coffee shop I found, then did a bit of shopping.  I got some postcards, a new water bottle and a cover for it, some new sunscreen (my old stuff isn't as hypo-allergenic as I would like) and a few things at the International grocery too.

I came home on the train and it was a nice and quiet way to travel.  I got to Tsuruoka and F was waiting for me.  He seems to have missed me a lot and we had a lovely reunion.  He took me out for dinner to an izakaya in the station and then we bought a few groceries.

At home, I found 4 postcards to register, a million messages and pictures on Facebook (one favourite, a picture of myself and 3 other ladies named Helen), and about 50 emails to try and read!  Some will have to wait for tomorrow.

We had a quiet evening at home, F is in bed, and to be honest, I want to get some sleep soon too.  That's it for me.  Night!

Tuesday - Warm and sunny

A good day.

Last night I went to bed just after midnight.  F hadn't bothered me the whole day about bedtimes, so I didn't mind too much.  I tossed and turned for a while, and finally fell asleep.

This morning I got up just after my first alarm and watched my morning shows.  I read 3 out of 4 newspapers and had breakfast too.  I was able to relax a little bit today as some of my big things were already taken care of.  I also finished my column and sent it in.  Whew!

In the afternoon I relaxed and did a bit of research for my workshop.

When F came home he was friendly and then we talked about where to go for dinner.  He suggested two places that I dislike right off the bat.  Honestly, I think he does it on purpose to annoy me.  He can go to both of those places when I'm not around and enjoy himself!  I suggested another place, he agreed, but had a bit of a snooze first.

We went to the little soba/udon shop that I like and had a nice meal.  We had Tempura donburi with cold udon noodles.  It was very nice, and honestly, just what I wanted.

We came home via the grocery store.  I'm going to try and make sandwiches for dinner tomorrow night, or at least the fixings for them.  We'll probably go and see a movie that I'm dying to see.

I likely won't update tomorrow night, so there won't be anything until I get back, which should be Monday night if all goes well.  I'll be off in the mountains in Nagano.  Wish me luck!  Night.

Monday - Sunny and warm, rainy at night

An okay, busy day.

I went to bed just a little bit after midnight last night.  F was sleeping and as far as I could tell, didn't wake up.  Ha!

This morning, when I got up, I got busy!  I spent a few minutes on my computer, then fixed one of my recent projects.  After that, I did something I've been putting off for a few months, I fixed a button on my winter coat! I had a button that was half-off, and today, in the middle of June, I fixed it.  Yay me. I also did something new.  I broke out my new hot glue gun and put a couple of things together.  Woot.

After my shows finished I did computer stuff, laundry and packing.  I packed my suitcase and I packed my box of craft stuff.  I was running around like a crazy woman, but I finally got things done.

Then, I had to scan my cards.  I didn't have that many, so it didn't take that long.  When I finished, I ran them off to the post office and popped them in the mailbox.

F came home quite late, in fact, I was planning to cook dinner for myself when he did. I asked him if he would take me to the freight delivery office and send my box and suitcase.  We did that, and it was a bit of a hassle, but finally, I paid and we were done.  After that, we went to the drugstore for more trip necessities and then came home.  I offered to share my food with F for dinner and he accepted.

I got busy right away, cooking dinner.  We had tandori chicken, and salad, I had couscous and F added in rice and sujiko to his dinner.  It was quite nice.  F did the dishes for us.

The rest of the evening has been quiet so far.  F watched TV, I read my book, and finally finished it.  It was great…Lady Audley's Secret by Mary Elizabeth Braddon.  I'd never heard of her or it before, but I really enjoyed it.  It was a twisty, changey sort of book.  The kind I wish I'd studied in University.

I'm now watching Suits and trying to relax.  F hasn't said anything yet, so I'm hoping that he's not going to. I'm so tired of fighting and snide comments and not being able to be myself.

Anyway, tomorrow I have a few things I have to do, and I have to pick a book for my trip, charge up my iPod and do a few other things. I'll likely update tomorrow night, but not on Wednesday.  Catch you later?  Night.

June 15, 2014

Sunday - Sunny and hot, a bit overcast.

An up and down day.

I got up early for a Sunday so that we could go to the Squid Festival in Nezugaseki. It took us a bit of time, but we finally got ready.  F gave me some of the bread that he baked and was quite friendly.

We drove to Nezugaseki.  While we were still in the car he started in on me again about bedtimes and what not.  I offered to get out of the car as we were parked at a red light.  He agreed.  I undid my seat belt and was going to get out, when he asked me to stay and come with him.  I did. At Nezugaseki he parked the car, and we walked over to the festival.  He started complaining about missing the free soup…but he hadn't asked me to get up early enough for that anyway.  Then, I wouldn't have some of the stuff he wanted so he got mad at me.  He kept walking off and leaving me.  He didn't seem to understand that even though I didn't want what he wanted, I did want some things!  It was really upsetting.   I also wasn't stopping him from having what he wanted.

We got some dried squid and sat near the ocean for a while.  We studiously avoided all touchy topics so it was quite nice.  He wanted to go to the new Aquarium today. I told him it would be too busy, but if he really wanted to go, I would.  He changed his mind.

We went and looked at a small garden that has a tree lying on the ground, still growing.  We'd been there a few years ago too so it was nice to see again.  As we got back in the car, I requested a bathroom break soonish.  We passed every rest-stop, convenience store or highway stop on the way back to Tsuruoka without stopping.  Nice!

At home I went inside and F went to the bank. He came home and decided that we should go to the Aquarium.  Okay...fine.  So, back in the car and back to the aquarium.

We couldn't park near it, so we had to take a free bus from the parking lot to the place.  We went in and of course it was wall to wall people.  The new Tsuruoka Aquarium is a huge improvement over the old one, but it isn't completely "fixed".  There are still too many tanks filled with turtles, fish or whatever, with no attempts to make it a natural place to live.  The Jellyfish were spectacular though.  They did have English information for them, BUT not very well done English! The problem for me is that everyone would stop and take pictures of every single different type of Jellyfish.  I wasn't doing that, so it took forever.  F did take pictures so I suppose I can't complain too much. We got caught in a crush of people and just decided to leave.  We might try and go back on a weekday sometime.  Might.

We came home again, then went out for dinner to a place he wanted.  I wanted simple pasta…I got a Japanese teishoku meal…ugh…so heavy.  After that we bought groceries.  I told him in the store that I was only buying stuff to cook for myself.  I'm sick and tired of putting my heart into cooking a nice healthy meal and not having it eaten.

Along the way today, I've had a lot of digs about "not being human" because I don't want to go to bed before midnight.  I think what my husband has failed to grasp that is that I'm an adult and can pick my own bedtime.  I have offered to sleep in another room.  At this point, I'd certainly prefer it!

I'm not sure what the rest of the week is going to be like.  I'm leaving early on Thursday morning for convention and I am sooooo looking forward to it!

That's it for me, even though this is an early update, I'm quite tired and I had a lot of sun today.  Got to go.  Night!

June 14, 2014

Saturday - Rainy, then clearing, then back to rain.

Much better day!

I can hardly believe that the same man came back from the doctor today.  All week F has been rude and nasty and snapping at me, but today someone nice appeared in my apartment.  It was a tad odd, but very welcome.

We had a nice lunch at Grado. Both of us had the same dish, roasted duck with ratatouille. I took over a stack of newspapers for them too. After lunch, we did a bit of shopping.  I was looking for a rain coat of some kind, so we hit up a larger size shop, but didn't find anything for me coastwise. However, I did get a couple of new tops for summer.  Someone picked up the cost of them…a guilty conscience perhaps? We also visited the drugstore for a few things for my trip and the apartment.

We went home to drop off our stuff then headed over to the Chido Museum.  They have a small Katana show now and F wanted to see it.  It was interesting, although I still don't know much about them.  When we finished, we headed over to Mikawa and did more shopping!

First up was Daiso for a couple of little things, then it was over to the mall proper for a snoop.  I couldn't find a raincoat to fit me…there was only one I could even find anyway.  Hope it doesn't rain next week!  We had dinner, then checked out the bookstore.  I looked at craft magazines then wandered over to another shop and found UV-Cut hats, so I got one. Yay me.  I had one, but it doesn't really cover that much of my face.

Then we went to see Noah, with my darling Russell Crowe.  Or should I say my FORMER darling?  He was good, it's just that the movie character he played wasn't a nice guy!  The movie as a whole was terrible.  Of course, I expected the biblical story to be expanded somewhat, but I didn't think it would be padded by creatures who escaped from Lord of the Rings…or would that be Transformers?  Either way…just a mess.

We came home the long way.  We tried to find a bento shop open, couldn't, tried a convenience store for some, but F wasn't convinced, and then ended up at the grocery store for food.  I would have preferred the convenience store but actually I didn't care all that much!

The rest of the night has gone very nicely and even though it is late, I haven't been nagged at or commanded to go to bed, so I'm happy.  Tomorrow, providing I get up in time, we're going to a Squid Festival on the outskirts of the city.  What does one wear to a Squid Festival anyway?  Hmm.  Points to ponder!  Got to go.  Night!

June 13, 2014

Friday - Rainy and cool

A little better today.

I went to bed last night just after midnight.  I think it is ridiculous to try to force me to go to bed that early, but according to him, it wasn't early enough!

I was again woken up in the morning by the TV and lights on in the living room, and not one, but two different alarms in the bedroom.  Better not happen tomorrow!

He left, I tried to sleep longer, but was awake around 8 and got up soon after.  This morning after I checked my computer for emails, I got to work on my project, and finished it.  I think it is rather cute!

Presenting my Scrap T-Yarn Boa

I had a very late breakfast, and then got on with my day.  I watched something I had taped last night and then vacuumed the apartment, or most of it.  Of course, I saw cobwebs after I had finished and put the darn thing away.  Sigh.

F came home a bit late today and was quiet and not all ragey like yesterday.  He said he was tired and had had a busy day.  He went to bed almost immediately, then got up briefly and made himself some ramen.  To do him credit, he did ask if I needed anything to eat, but I told him that I would take something out of the freezer.

He went back to bed and fell asleep immediately.  He's still sleeping about 5 hours later.

I had some carbonara from the freezer.  It was good, if a bit small, plus some Jasmine milk tea.  I read a bit more of my book tonight too.  I'm over 80% done now.  Yay!  It's Lady Audley's Secret, and she has just revealed most of her secret.  It's a classic novel I've been reading for ages, and I am really enjoying it.

I watched a bit of TV tonight with the headphones on so I wouldn't disturb someone.  I have to say I enjoyed the solitude. Also tonight, I worked on a crocheted rose out of tarn.  It turned out okay.  I'm sure another try would be better, but I probably don't have time now!

Well, that's about it for me.  I'm a tad nervous about tomorrow…will he be in a MOOD or will he be back to his more reasonable self?  Tune in tomorrow night and find out!  Night.

June 12, 2014

Thursday - Cloudy and rainy

Slightly better day.

I had a bad night last night.  I tried to sleep on our couch but it is made out of leather and it was too hot.  I ended up going back to my bed at 2 so I got a lecture from F about that.  Sigh.  I told him that I didn't want to fight about it right then, so please bring it up the next night.

He was a bit noisy in the morning, didn't turn off his alarm again.  I so love having to turn off someone else's alarm.

Anyway, once I got up, I started working on my craft projects.  I did a lot on the scrap-buster I'm doing, and then started another one I adapted from a necklace on the internet.  I got it finished today too and it looks rather cool.

I had a late breakfast, watched a bit of TV and my tape from last night, then some other stuff, while I crafted.

When F first came home he was a right twat if I may use that expression.  He came in shouting at me and yelling that he had to go to a meeting.  He tells me that he told me on Monday that he had this meeting.  I have absolutely no idea when he did that.  I actually think he was too busy shouting at me on Monday to be coherent about anything.

He left for an hour, then came back.  I asked him if he'd like to go for dinner to Gusto and he said it was okay.

We went, and although he was very grumpy, I think it helped.  We had dinner, then on the way home got some groceries.  I didn't buy much, just some yogurt and some soy milk.

When we came home again, I was yelled at for a bit.  He thinks I should go to bed at 11 and get up when he does.  I think he's crazy.  I told him yesterday that I'm not a farmer and I don't have to keep farmer's hours.  He didn't like that, but it's true.  I got off the farm as soon as I could.

Anyhoo, we've been watching TV and using our computers for the last couple of hours.  I had some tea, the first hot tea in days. It was so restorative. I feel almost human again.  I'm planning to go to bed early tonight, but not at 11.

Tomorrow I have one last craft project to finish up and hopefully I can work on my column.  If not, I'll hopefully have enough time to finish it before I leave on Thursday.  To say that I can hardly wait for Thursday is an understatement!  A few days of freedom is just what I need.

That's it for me for today.  I have to go.  Night.

June 11, 2014

Wednesday - Cloudy and now rainy

A horrible, horrible day.

F took today off work today and "graced" me with his presence.  He was a huge jerk all day, wouldn't let me get on with the stuff that I needed and wanted to do, and kept whining about wanting to go to the new aquarium.

With my workshop coming up next week, I really wanted to get a lot of work done, but I wasn't able to do it.  I have no wish to go to the aquarium…yes, it is new, but so what?  He would say that he'd go by himself, I'd tell him that was fine and then he'd get mad at me.

This basically went on all day.

I scanned my cards from last night then ran them to the post office.  While I was there I deposited some of my coins and also bought some new stamps.  Yay me.

After I came home I tried to talk to F but only made it worse.  He is annoyed that I never go to bed before midnight (actually he said 10:00pm) and that I don't get up with him in the morning.  But honestly, why should I?  All the TV that I like to watch is on after 10:00pm, and I'm a night owl.

I am now in the process of deciding what I want to do.
I took myself out for a cheap and not great dinner tonight too.  I went cheaper than yesterday. I don't want to spend all of my money before my break.

Neither of us talked to each other after I came back.  I am just heartsick.  I don't understand what is wrong with us.  We had such a lovely weekend, really lovely, and the week has been just awful.

That's it for me.  I can't write anymore.  Tomorrow I hope he'll go back to work and leave me in peace. Night.

June 10, 2014

Tuesday - Hot and sunny

An okay day.

This morning F woke me up. I'm not sure if he did it on purpose at first, although I am quite sure he did on purpose later on.  He started kicking the bed around 5, and again at 6. He got up at 6:30, turned on lights and the TV in the living room, without closing the bedroom door, and didn't bother turning off his alarm.  See…on purpose.

After he left, I tried to go back to sleep, and almost managed to.  I finally got up about an hour early and stayed up.  I worked on my craft project and then had breakfast.  I got dressed and spent some time on the computer.

When I finished lunch, I washed dishes and then cleaned the sink and tidied up a bit.  I packed up a box of stuff that I'll eventually send to the hotel next week.

I had a quiet afternoon.  I started working on my column, and got about half of it written.  F came home and made himself some ramen right away.  Did say very much to me.  So, when I felt it was necessary, I got dressed and then went out for dinner.  I biked off to Bikkuri Donkey! and had a nice meal there. I read a bit of my book too.

I sent F a text and asked him to meet me at McDonald for an ice cream in a few minutes.  I didn't hear from him and I waited outside for a bit.  He didn't come and I just went home.  At home I asked him if he ignored my text or didn't know if it arrived.  He said he didn't get it and seemed sorry, but it was too late.  As I said to him, " You snoozed, you losed!"

We didn't fight much tonight, but we didn't talk much either.  F went to bed fairly early tonight… to be honest, I probably will too.  It is so hot in the daytime and I have so much to do that I am tired as well.

I'm not sure what I'll get up to tomorrow. I have postcards to scan and errands to run.  Wish me luck with it all.  Night.

Monday - Hot and sunny

A day that started well, ended badly.

I woke up this morning, ages before I needed to get up.  I lay in bed, thinking about things, finally got up.  I worked on one of my craft projects for a while, got a lot of cutting and then tying done.  I had breakfast and then in the last 10 minutes of my show got a call from F asking me out for lunch.

I had a quick shower and then met him outside.  We went to Tsukiya for a quick bite.  It was okay.  I asked F to drop me off at the grocery store so that I could buy cottage cheese for the quiche for dinner.  I got that, and a couple of other things, then set off home.  I was very glad that I had worn my hat and my sunscreen today. The sun was fierce today.

I got home, a bit melted around the edges and spent the afternoon catching up on the things I didn't do in the morning!  I cleared up some of my craft stuff as much as I could.

In the late afternoon, F called to say he was coming home, and did.  He seemed fine and I started getting dinner ready.  Now, because I was in the kitchen and using the oven it was really hot. I was sweating a lot, but prep went quite well. I didn't have any problems.  Except the usual.  When dinner was ready and ready to be dished out, F was still on his computer.  I had given him a five minute warning, which he ignored.  I told him it was ready. He ignored me.  I waited 10 minutes and then went into the bedroom and sat on my side of the bed.  Then I had a little lie-down.  Still nothing.  He finally got up, saw me in the bedroom, went into his changing room, grabbed his clothes and went to take a shower.  Great.  So, once again, he proves that he is a jerk.  He refused to eat my lovely dinner, so I did.  Oh well, at least I have something yummy for my lunch tomorrow.

If I continue to nag him he gets angry, if I sit down and start eating by myself he gets angry, and if he doesn't come when I ask him, I get angry. I hate cold food that should be hot.  What is the point?

So, for the rest of the evening I basically got the silent treatment.  That and crap Japanese TV.  Towards the end there was a news programme, but I demanded the TV at 11 so I could watch something.

That's basically that.  I got a bit of a craft done, but nothing on my column and nothing done on my packing.  If I can, I might go out tomorrow and have a haircut or something, or not.  I'm not sure yet.  I imagine I'm in for a couple of days of the silent treatment. Yay.  Night.

Oh, for something happier, check out my postcard blog for a chance to win a great postcard from the movie Maleficent (Closes June 15, 2014).

Saturday - Rainy and warm

A good day.

I got up fairly early and planned to watch Gordon Ramsay's cooking show…but F came home just before I made it to the living room and started watching boxing.  Bleck.  I took a shower instead.

After my shower I was on my computer for a bit, and then got really sleepy.  I went and took a nap.  Next thing I knew, F took one too.  We slept for most of the afternoon!

I got up around 4:30 and decided to start cooking.  A few months ago I read Mark Bittman's New York Times column and he talked about making these mini-omelettes with "stuff" in them, so I decided to make some for us.  The first ones I made had cheese, cucumber and ham in it, the second had asparagus.  They were great actually. I even had F standing beside me eating them as they came out of the pan, as they should be.  However, I didn't have counter space, so I had the plate they were on balanced a little awkwardly and…well you can imagine.  They went flying.  Sigh.  They were so good…and they ended up on the floor.

A little while later, we decided to go out for dinner.  Tonight was cheap and cheerful night, so we went to Coco's Ichibanchiya Curry.  We both had a spicy chicken curry that was more Indian style than Japanese.  It was quite good actually.

We bought a few groceries. I needed soy milk, F needed milk and we got some other things.  Then, we came home.

F tried to DVR Sherlock for me, to see if he can do it when I'm away, but it didn't work properly.  It was very annoying because he wanted to check it right away, and I understandably wanted to watch Sherlock!  ARGH.  Anyway, the episode was very good and I enjoyed it…but the next one isn't on next week.  Oh no!  Whatever will I do?

Anyway, I spent the rest of the evening working on a T-shirt project and basically just relaxing.  F has been in a pretty good mood today, which is lovely.

Not sure what we'll do tomorrow.  We might go to a movie, we might go to the museum, we're just not sure.  Come back tomorrow and find out what we get up to!  Night.

Sunday - Sunny but a bit muggy, rainy at night.

A good day.

I slept in today. I woke up around 10:40, decided I could sleep for 20 more minutes, woke up at noon.  Oops.  Sigh. Still, I got up and got dressed.  F didn't seem to be too upset. Hurray for that.

We went out for lunch to this Japanese place that F's co-worker told him about.  We went there again and it was good.  We had a good lunch, except F ordered my meal before I was decided on it. I was a bit annoyed as I wasn't planning to have the same thing I had last time.  It was good, but honestly, give me some time.  This place is also the kind of place where they just give you coffee at the end of the meal, there's no tea instead.

After lunch, we made a brief trip home and then went to the Chido Museum.  We had a look at their latest exhibit of woodblock prints.  They were quite interesting and we enjoyed our time there.  I bought us an ice cream cone each there.

We came home for a while and I took a nap.  I set my alarm this time and got up after an hour.  We went out again for dinner.  Our first choice was unavailable, so we decided to go to S-Mall and split up!  F went upstairs for dinner, and I stayed downstairs and had Subway.  I had a very nice sandwich there.  It was roast chicken with honey mustard sauce.  Yum.  F didn't think that his ramen was that good, so I guess I won! I went through the hundred yen shop and got a few things for my workshop.

We drove over to Machigakine and went to see Nebraska.  It was great.  Both of us enjoyed it, it was funny and real and sad too.  It will probably be one of my favourite films this year.

After the movie, F and I went to buy some groceries. I'm going to try and make a self-crusting quiche that I read about recently.  However, I just realized that I forgot one of the ingredients, so I'll have to go and get it tomorrow afternoon.

And that's about it for me.  We came home, I watched Downton Abbey and had tea and English Biscuits courtesy of my friend who just returned from Britain! I'm now up late blogging and watching TV. Tomorrow I will have to go to the grocery store, and I hope to work on my projects a bit.  Until tomorrow!  Night.

Friday - Hot and Sunny

A good day

I got up this morning and relaxed for a while.  I had a light breakfast and then got dressed.  I was really surprised that D-Life started Charmed over again from the beginning.  There are more than 2 seasons of Charmed…I'd like to see them too!

I got dressed for going out and then met up with my friend and her little boy.  We decided to go to Kappa-Sushi.  It is very kid friendly and not too expensive either.

Afterwards we went over to the travel agent in the mall to book our train tickets.  It was quiet and fairly cool in there so we could relax.  It wasn't too busy either, which was a good thing as what we wanted was very complicated!

After we bought and paid for the train tickets, we went and bought ice creams and had a bit more chat time.  Then, sadly it was time to go.  My friend is recovering from jet lag and was starting to show how tired she was.

I went in my apartment and scanned some of my recent postcards, then uploaded them too.  F came home around 6 pm and I asked him if he wanted dinner soonish.  He said yes so I got busy.

Tonight we had soba fettucine with mushroom alfredo sauce, ground chicken (in the sauce) plus asparagus and salad.  It all turned out quite nicely and came together fairly easily.  Yay.

We had a quiet evening.  F watched some J-TV and then I watched some other TV.  F went to bed fairly early, and I am still up of course!

I have no idea what I'll get up to tomorrow.  F doesn't really have many ideas, I just want to make sure I'm home to watch Sherlock in the evening.  That's it for me!  Night.
