Cloudy in the afternoon, but not rainy.
Today was a good day. I got up on time but there wasn't any news on, and we hadn't magically started to receive CNN or BBC News overnight either. I did find Ghost and watched the last bit of that. I still didn't like it. Too schmaltsy for me.
I watched some of my weekend TV, then the news. I had to go to work a little earlier today because my first class was at 3. I ate lunch and then did dishes. I was out the door at 2 pm.
At school I was busy for a bit. I vacuumed, dusted, checked lessons, prepped my tea service and then waited for my student. She was a little late, but we had quite a good class when she came. I had two more today as well, each separated by an hour. It's an odd amount of time. It sounds like it should be enough to get a lot of necessary things done, but it isn't really. Especially, when I had to stop 10 to 15 minutes before the time was up to make sure I was ready for my student in case he or she came early.
After my last class, I finished up and called F to come and get me. He was driving, but came. We went to Gusto tonight and both had an okay dinner. I freak the staff out because I don't order rice with my meal. But, when you're having chicken, hamburg and potatoes, why on earth do you need it? Oh yeah, there's corn on the plate, but I usually don't eat it. Not a huge fan.
We came home and F did homework for a while. I asked if it was okay if we put American Idol on and it was. It was quite good tonight, but...the wrong person was put out. I dunno about the people who phone in. What were they thinking? I did a lot of crocheting while I was watching. I'm close to finishing the second ball of yarn. I suppose that means that I should roll another one soon! Fun. The clapochet is going well. I was tooling around on Ravelry today and looked at other people's clapochets. It was interesting. The same pattern, but many differences in yarn and tension meant that there were some very interesting scarves out there. This one is going well, but the tension on the edges isn't quite right. I'm not sure how to fix it. I was thinking about frogging it, but I really don't want to do that.
Anyway, that's it for me. It was a good day. I'm off tomorrow, but I have a huge pile of things I need to do. I have to proof then send my column, book our inside Canada tickets and maybe even run to the bank. And, it's Canada day tomorrow. Yay! Hurray :-)

Hot and sunny, cloudy in the evening.
I'm back, did you miss me? I had a fabulous time in Sendai. Lunch with "the girls", then a nice dinner with Jan yesterday. I even went to bed much earlier last night than I do at home...just after 1 am. Amazing.
I had a lovely sleep at the hotel last night. The Holiday Inn in Sendai is very nice. I didn't have a super deluxe room, but it was enough for me. The bed was comfortable, the room was quiet and cool, what's not to like?
I got up this morning, showered and then had breakfast. I thought I'd missed Jan, but she joined me after a while and we had a good gab. She was running off to have coffee with some other ladies. I was invited, but ended up taking a break in my room. It was nice to just chill for a bit.
I checked out and then walked to the Aer building where I put my bags in a locker. After that I went to Maruzen and mentally marked the books I wanted to buy. I took a walk to another book store, didn't buy much there, and did a lot of looking and very little buying. Finally it was around 1:30 and I decided I'd check out the top of Parco for lunch. There were about 6 or 7 restaurants there, but some of them were strictly Japanese, or there was a Thai restaurant, but I'm not a fan, so I chose the Italian one. The waiter was showing me to a table when I noticed that Jan was sitting with another woman at a table! What a coincidence! I joined them and we had introductions all around. I had gnocchi with gorgonzola cheese sauce and it was very good. Terribly yummy. The other lady had to leave, and then we left the restaurant.
After a few minutes of shopping, Jan had to leave to catch her train, so I went back to Maruzen. I picked up a few magazines for myself, a book (new one by Dick Francis, I couldn't resist) and then some things for the school. I got a few more readers as my adult students seem to be quite motivated to read these days. When I went to the checkout it was a little complicated as somethings came from my pocket, and some things came from the school's. Still, the nice thing was that I got a free bag from one of the publishing companies. I think I'm going to pass it on to my students...but I'll make them work for it. :-)
I had a quick frappuchino in Starbucks, then got my bags and headed over to the bus stop. I was a little early, but that was okay. I got on the bus easily and then relaxed for the drive home. I listened to Quirks and Quarks which was very interesting and then some music.
F picked me up and took me to dinner. We had yakiniku. It was nice, but we didn't get as much food as either of us thought we should have! Still, I was quite satisfied when we left.
We came hom and then relaxed more. F got into the whole relaxation thing and had a beer. Bleck. We watched a bit of a movie and then American Idol. It was good tonight. The theme was The Rat Pack. That genre of music is one of my favourites so I was happy. The right person left tonight too, although he was good tonight.
And that's it. Tomorrow I'm back to work. I suppose that I'm ready. I do feel a little sad. I completely forgot to bring omiyage back for anyone. I was at the bus station when I realized that I didn't have anything for anyone else, not even hubby. Ack.

June 27, 2009 - Saturday
Sunny and way too hot!
Today was a good day, but I have to get up really early tomorrow so I can't talk about it very much.
My classes were fine, and as I had a big break in the middle, F came to get me and we went for coffee to a new place for us. While we were there, we met another foreigner...I don't know him, but we've shared students in the past, so I knew of him. Then, a friend of his came in and she was F's former classmate, and one of my ex-students at le Eikaiwa! Funny how that works.
In the evening I finished up quickly after work and F picked me up. We went to Yutagawa to look at fireflies. We had to park on the road and then tramp for a while in the dark, but it was very cool. However, there really weren't all that many. I hope we just came at a bad time. Still, it was fun to do something "typically Japanese" for a change.
Dinner was at Jiro tonight and then we came home and I had a busy night. I packed more stuff, charged up my iPod, and got ready to go to Sendai.
That's it for me. I'm out of town for a couple of days/one night, so I won't be posting unless I do a mobile blog...and I just might! Catch you in a couple of days!

Hot and sunny.
Although it happened June 25 in the US, I only heard about these events today so I'll mention them here. Today both Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson died.
I had heard that Farrah Fawcett was fighting cancer and it wasn't going well. I never really saw much of Charlie's Angels when it was on TV, we lived too far out of the city to pick up that channel. I remember her poster and her appearances on The Six Million Dollar Man with her then husband Lee Majors. She seemed like the typical All American Girl, and I had nothing in common with her!
Michael Jackson was a different story. I'd never really heard much of the Jackson Five when I was a child. A combo of travelling and living in a country under apartheid I think. When Michael started getting airplay, I was in my teens. I wasn't a big fan, until Thriller came out. Then, I was. One of my proudest moments was convincing my college's radio station manager that we needed a copy of Thriller in the station.
On with my day. It was quite boring really. I watched Re:Genesis and then the two episodes of Cold Case that were on today. I made myself a nice omelette and had some of an avocado for lunch. I headed off to the school, stopping at the drugstore on the way.
My student came and went. He was okay today, not great, but certainly not the worst he's ever been. I cleaned up and called F to pick me up afterwards.
We went out for soba after my class. I really wanted something cold. I couldn't handle anything hot for dinner. The apartment was up to 29 degrees today, my school was over 30 when I got there today, so really, just too darn hot for me.
We came home and I finally booked our trip to Canada. It was a little complicated because I'm staying longer than F so I couldn't book our tickets together. But, we're on the same plane going to Canada, and if I did everything right, should be sitting next to each other too.
That's about it. I watched an episode of Lost from the third season, but didn't really follow it. Too much between what I've seen and what I should know for this episode. Oh well.
And now, to bed. Night night.

June 25, 2009 - Thursday
I would just like you to realize that you have only 6 months left to buy my Christmas Present. Thank you. This has been a public service announcement.
Today was an okay day. I overslept a little, but not terribly. When I got up I showered and then I did a few things for our trip. I looked at packages trips and the ratings of the hotels. That kind of thing. I also started packing my suitcase for the weekend. I'm trying not to overpack. I have a tendency to do that.
For my lunch I finished up the yakiniku stuff from the other night and made a really neat omelette. It had stirfried zucchini, onion and cabbage in the middle. Yum.
I went over to my school and got there in time. It was so hot though. It was over 30 degrees. I started up the air conditioner and then changed and went to work. My first student cancelled so I had enough time to read the newspaper.
My other classes went well, and I was out of the school around 10pm. F picked me up and we went to New York, New York for dinner. I had hamburger and hubby had chicken. It was quite nice.
We came home and had a very quiet time. I tried looking for flights for hubby but it's not looking good. He can go to Canada, he just might not be able to get back!

June 24, 2009 - Wednesday
Cloudy and hot.
This morning I woke up when my alarms went off. I got up, checked for news on the TV (not today) and promptly fell asleep on the couch. I didn't feel well last night and I didn't get a lot of sleep either, so it wasn't the evilness that it sounds. It was almost 12 before I woke up again.
I had a very quiet day in the apartment. I had planned to go to the big mall today and meet F after work for a movie, but he decided that it finished too late. He does have to drive early tomorrow so it wouldn't have been fair to push it. I still could have gone shopping, but money is a little tight and I'm going to Sendai this weekend, so would rather hold the cash till then.
What I did do today was work on my column for the next AFWJ Journal. I think I did a good job. I wrote some of the column and typed it all up. I think it's quite interesting, but I'm planning to let it percolate for a day or two before I send it.
I set up the coffee pot before F came home, and when he called to say he was coming, I started it. It was ready as he walked in the door. I think it was a nice treat for him.
We had dinner tonight at Framboise. I had chicken, F had a Japanese teishoku. It looked nice, but a little Japanese food goes a long way with me. We dropped off some mugicha at my school and then came home.
F wanted to watch a movie so I made him pick 5 films that he wanted to see and then I got to pick the actual one we viewed. He chose Airplane, Airplane 2, The Others, Scary Movie 3 and Planes, Trains and Automobiles. Well, I picked the last one. I think it was a good choice and we laughed a lot over the next little while.
Just after 11 Desperate Housewives came on and I watched that. Hubby took a bath in the middle. The plot is thickening. Bree has a new frenemy.
I didn't manage to pack for my trip yet, but I did borrow a small suitcase from my husband and got him to empty it out. I might be able to pack it tomorrow. And, I didn't book our trip yet, but I at least picked the date that I want to come back and looked into packages on the island.
I'm really going to try to go to bed early tonight. So, to that effect, I will sign out now. Tomorrow I have 3 evening classes, but as far as I know, my daytime is free.

Cloudy, then nice and sunny in the afternoon.
Mostly a good day, and then it got too much. I'll fill you in.
I got up and watched news and crocheted two rows in the morning. Yay. I showered, did my usual stuff. No big deal. I did find out that a friend of mine (a non-blogging friend in Japan) lost her father today. It was expected, but of course a sad occasion for my friend.
I went off to work and had a heck of a time getting everything set up in time. I managed, but only just. I did a bit of cleaning in the school, although I didn't vacuum. My first student was fine and we had a great class. Ditto the second student an hour later.
Afterwards I really took a long time getting ready to come home. I had a mound of dishes to wash at the school, but I did them. Then I called F. He picked me up, we bought a few extra groceries, then came home.
At home, I wanted to check my email to see if I'd heard from my friend. I hadn't then. I had a bunch of email which I didn't have time to read either. I tried to run the travel plans that I had tentatively planned by him (Very complicated by the way) and he didn't like them. So, I told him that I couldn't do it then.
We had yakiniku for dinner. F had spent the evening making nameru which is a kind of Korean pickle that we get with yakiniku and it was really nice. With the meat we had zucchini, onion and cabbage. I did the dishes after dinner and we settled in to watch American Idol. It was fun tonight and almost the right people left. Almost.

June 22, 2009 - Monday
Cloudy then rainy. Muggy.
Today was a good day. It surprised me actually. In the morning I got up, drank coffee and re-watched Hitman. It wasn't good, but there were points of promise. The Hitman character was interesting. A very violent movie though. I also watched the two shows I had taped on Saturday night. They were fine.
In the afternoon I decided to go to the bank. I had to pay my resident tax to the city. That meant it had to be done before 3 pm. I took a quick shower and headed out. I discovered just as I was about to cycle away that it was raining so I darted back into the apartment and grabbed my pink raincoat.
I got to the bank in time, did my payment and even got the teller to fix my bank book. Hurray. After that, I headed off to S-Mall. I had lunch at Patio. I had herb chicken and lettuce pasta. It was very nice. I didn't think it would be, but it was. After that, I visited the hundred yen shop and bought a few things for the school, then went to Doutors and had a drink. While I was drinking my vanilla latte I re-worked my column. I've taken it in a whole new direction, and frankly, I'm much happier with it than the bit I wrote on Saturday. This column basically deals with the work of just one actor.
I came home around 5:15 and then F was home a bit later. He wasn't late today, although he thought he would be. After a bit of a laze around, I suggested going to the craft store.
The airconditioning that is used in summer is hard on F's neck, so he asked me to make him a clapochet to wear when he's out. I'm not sure that he will use it, but I'm making him one now. We got some gorgeous yarn at the store. It's cotton and acrylic.
After buying the yarn, we sat in the car and discussed dinner. F wanted yakiniku, but I didn't, then he wanted soba, but I didn't. I really wasn't hungry as my lunch was quite late. Finally we decided on the Grand El Son. We went, and the first thing we discovered was they had a set menu course that was nice sounding and quite reasonable in price. We had that. It was lovely. We had dadacha-mame soup (our local edamame), pasta with beef ragout and veggies, dessert and there was another beginning course too. It was lovely, but afterwards I was too full. Sigh.
We went to the grocery store near the restaurant. They are one of the only places I can get sunflower seeds. We got makings for tomorrow's dinner. F wanted yakinku, so we'll have it tomorrow. I'm not terribly keen, I think it's too hot, but didn't want to argue with him much.
We came home, and after a little while, hubby went to bed. I was shocked. He didn't even stay up to watch American Idol. He did record it though. I watched the whole thing with headphones on, and started his clapochet. I got about 11 rows done plus I had to roll the skein into a ball first. That took a while.

The airconditioning that is used in summer is hard on F's neck, so he asked me to make him a clapochet to wear when he's out. I'm not sure that he will use it, but I'm making him one now. We got some gorgeous yarn at the store. It's cotton and acrylic.
After buying the yarn, we sat in the car and discussed dinner. F wanted yakiniku, but I didn't, then he wanted soba, but I didn't. I really wasn't hungry as my lunch was quite late. Finally we decided on the Grand El Son. We went, and the first thing we discovered was they had a set menu course that was nice sounding and quite reasonable in price. We had that. It was lovely. We had dadacha-mame soup (our local edamame), pasta with beef ragout and veggies, dessert and there was another beginning course too. It was lovely, but afterwards I was too full. Sigh.
We went to the grocery store near the restaurant. They are one of the only places I can get sunflower seeds. We got makings for tomorrow's dinner. F wanted yakinku, so we'll have it tomorrow. I'm not terribly keen, I think it's too hot, but didn't want to argue with him much.
We came home, and after a little while, hubby went to bed. I was shocked. He didn't even stay up to watch American Idol. He did record it though. I watched the whole thing with headphones on, and started his clapochet. I got about 11 rows done plus I had to roll the skein into a ball first. That took a while.

Hot and sunny, gorgeous day.
Well, yesterday ended early today for yours truly. I stayed up watching Factory Girl on WOWOW. It didn't end until very late, so didn't go to bed until the sun was coming up. I slept in basically until 12.
We had a late lunch around 3 at Kintaro Sushi. We were the only people there for a while and then it started to get busy.
After lunch, F drove us to Atsumi Onsen. It's still technically Tsuruoka, but is quite far away. He wanted to go to an "Ashie Yu" or hotspring footbath. He'd finally got me to go to a couple when our friends were here last month, and now wanted to try a new one. We parked and walked to one of the bath sites. It wasn't very busy. Hubby stripped off his socks and shoes , and I took off my sandals. The water was too hot for me. F liked it a lot, but I couldn't stand it. Instead, I looked at a duck and her ducklings in the river and took a picture of my hubby looking remarkably like Huck Finn! All he needed was a corncob pipe, but let's not give him any ideas.
A couple of people left the bath and so we tried their spot. It was a little cooler, much better for me. So, I actually put my feet in the water. It was quite nice. The sun was really hot, I think I would have enjoyed it more on a colder day.
We came home. It took about an hour to get home and then we watched the remaining disk of Lost that we'd rented last week. We've seen up to episode 12 of the first season. It's really good so far.
Dinner tonight was at a Chinese restaurant that we'd never tried before. We couldn't agree on a restaurant that we often go to, so thought this would be an interesting compromise. It was okay. I had a pork stirfry, different from mine though, with some kara-age and gyoza. F had some fried noodle thing.
We dropped off the dvds on the way home and settled in for a quiet evening. I watched Hitman which wasn't great, but the star was okay. I also chatted with one of my AFWJ peeps about poutine of all things!
And that was it. I'm basically on my way to bed, or really should be soon. Wish me luck with that. Night.

Cloudy all day, then torrential rain at night.
A busy day, but quite a good one. This morning I got up and we went to Gusto for breakfast. F dropped me off at the school and I got busy.
I had 3 classes today. They went well too. Between the first and second classes I had a lot of time so I got busy. I checked my lessons for the day and then went to work on my computer. I started writing my column for the Journal. I am thinking about tossing the whole thing and making it more focussed.
After classes and my clean up, I called F and got him to come and pick me up. We dropped my computer off at home, then headed out to the mall. We decided to buy our tickets first and then have a quick dinner. We did, but the restaurant took forever to make our food. We ended up having to eat so fast. It wasn't a problem for hubby dear, just for me.
We went to see The Reader and it was really good. Kate Winslet is amazing in her part and David Kross as the young Michael is excellent too. I had read the book a few years ago so I knew the story.
We came home and watched TV. I watched House and then later on Peep Show. I'm now deciding if I want to watch more TV or just got to bed. Bed would be smart.

It's late and I have an early morning tomorrow so I'll make this fast.
I had a good but quiet morning and afternoon at home. I did a load of laundry, watched this morning's Re: Genesis and some of a weird movie called The Proposition. I didn't like it much.
I headed over to my school via the drugstore and then got ready to teach. I had an okay class with the student. He's really tired these days. I think the transition to Junior High is rough on him.
Fumihiko picked me up and we came home. I cooked dinner which we ate on the couch for a change. I wanted to watch Hot Fuzz. It was a combo of screamingly funny scenes (soooo British) and quite gross murders. Overall I liked it, but it wasn't what I expected. Hubby went to bed on it. Shame really.
I watched Lost which was good, once I figured out how to make it bilingual. That's about it.

Rainy in the morning, then clearing.
I slept in a bit this morning, but it was because I wanted to rather than because I overslept, if that makes sense. I had a quiet day around the apartment.
Around 1 pm I was channel surfing and discovered that Eddie Murphy was on The Actor's Studio. They had him on for a couple of hours and he was very interesting. I've never really heard him talking before. He talked about a lot of his movies, including my favourite of his, Bowfinger. It's so funny.
I headed off to my school at about the right time today. I got there and got set up fairly quickly. That was good. When it was time for my class I got a call from my student. She would be late, but she was going to come.
I had two classes tonight. Usually I'm scheduled for three, but my children's lesson of the day was cancelled in advance. Both classes went well. Yay.
Fumihiko was working late and didn't finish his work until after 9. By the time he got to my school it was after 9:30 so I begged off dinner and we went out instead. We went to Grado and had a rather nice chicken and pork combo.
At home, Fumihiko found ER on TV and then promptly went to bed on it! He always does that. For a change I didn't mind too much as I was watching ER. Usually he leaves the room and leaves on his horrible J-TV. Urgh. When I'm in a mood I yell at him to come back and turn it off. However, tonight, he was already in bed when I noticed and it was something I liked!
So, I'll cook our dinner tomorrow. I think it's okay, as long as hubby can finish work earlier tomorrow.

Hot and sunny.
When I roused myself this morning I got a bit of a shock. I had overslept by about an hour. Some of my alarms had gone off, but I must have turned off the alarm function on my phone rather than hitting snooze. Sigh. It was a dumb thing to do as I didn't have a lot of time this morning. I showered quickly and did the internet stuff I had to do.
I made my brunch and then headed off to work. I only had one class today and it went well. We didn't get very much done though. The student was in a very chatty mood, so we talked about a lot of things. Foods we like/dislike and also about coins and money. I was just tying up the lesson for this week when the doorbell rang.
I checked the monitor and noticed that it was a woman in a uniform, and she said she was from the local Koban. Ack. Now what? I excused myself from my student, and went to the door. It wasn't a problem really. She was confirming all the information that I had given last year to a male officer. She even had my business card stapled to my info. I was really happy because she could speak English fairly well too. She even asked me if she could study at my school! I told her that she could call for an appointment and I'd talk about rates and fees with her then.
I finished up with my student then, and spent a bit of time reading the newspaper and relaxing. Then I headed out. I first went to the craft shop. F wanted a scarf, so I thought I'd check out the wool. I didn't have the pattern so didn't buy any. I also realized I hadn't asked him what type of yarn I should use. I left the shop without buying anything and headed to the drugstore next door. I hacked around a little, bought a few things and then headed home. F came home about 45 minutes after I did.
After a bit of relaxation time, we decided to have dinner. We went to a restaurant that we went to once a couple of months ago. They are quite famous for their curry and their ramen apparently. F had cold ramen which he liked, but thought was too small, I had curry spaghetti. Basically regular plain spaghetti with Japanese curry on it. I quite liked it and F and I were plotting how to make it at home.
We visited a grocery store and I decided quite unexpectedly (to me at any rate) to make dinner tomorrow night. It'll be my usual pork and veggie stirfry. We came home and vegged more.
At 11:15 we watched Desperate Housewives. I thought it was a really fun episode, but F went to bed on it. He's so tired these days. I feel a bit sorry for him.
And, in case anyone is wondering, no I didn't tell F about the Police Officer's visit to my school. He threw such a stupid tantrum about it last year that I decided to save myself the aggro this year.
Gotta go. Night!

Warm and sunny. Gorgeous day!
I had a pretty good day today. I got up, watched news but didn't drink coffee as there wasn't any. Sigh. Hubby didn't want any this morning so I did without too.
In the early part of the day I prepared the chicken for tonight's dinner. It's just a recipe that I found on the net, but it's nice. It took me a little while but wasn't difficult.
I cooked and ate around 1 today. I wanted to be at my school around 2 but was a bit later. I got there at half past. Still, it was enough time.
Classes today went well. My second student was back for the first time in a month so it was nice to see him.
After classes I finished up and then called hubby. He picked me up and I finished prepping the rest of dinner. Tonight we had baked chicken, salad and hash browns. Most of it was premade, but it tasted quite nice. Hubby did the dishes and then we settled in to watch American Idol.
F went to bed just after it finished, and I stayed up too late again.
Tomorrow I have an afternoon class, but I'm hoping to check out the craft store on my way home. I have a special order for a scarf for my husband. Air conditioning in summer really plays havoc with his neck so we thought a scarf might be a good idea. If he wears it!

Sunny and hot. Nice day.
I woke up this morning around 8:15, got up, checked for news and as I was watching NHK it started. A jackhammer going at 8:30 in the morning. Honestly. This country has no sense of my sacred quiet mornings.
I closed the window on that side of the apartment, but still got the noise, so didn't really sleep more. Later, I showered, did a load of laundry and also vacuumed. Amazing.
Fumihiko came home a bit after 1:30 and immediately had something to eat. It annoyed me because we'd planned to go out together for lunch. We did anyway, but would have been sooner at the restaurant. We went to Hyakukenburi, a restaurant near the university. It's on a lake and sells locally made food, food that the University students produce. It was lovely. F had noodles and I had chicken. Mine was so pretty when it arrived. My chicken was in a box, sashimi was on a leaf in a bed of ice...just so nice. After we both had something to drink, mine was herb tea while hub had coffee.
He drove me to the dentist's office after lunch. I was examined by the dentist and he told me that I have a cavity, or actually two, where two of my teeth meet. He was able to fix them today. However, I have another problem going on in my mouth, my jaw has been sore for a bit. He hoped that the fillings might help, but if not, I should go back. He has another place that he thinks it might be. Sigh. I think I'll have to go back honestly.
F was still walking like a 90 year old, so he wanted to go to the doctor, I on the other hand wanted to go shopping. So, he dropped me off at S-Mall, and I did a bit of looking around. I bought some stickers for my classes, then visited the 100 yen shop. F called me when I was there. He met up with me and we left the store. Now, while I was waiting for him to meet me, I had bumped up against a rack of magnets. One fell on the ground so I picked it up and put it back. Didn't think anything else about it. Hubs and I decide to go for coffee, take the escalator downstairs and as I get off the escalator I heard something fall behind me. It was a package of magnets! It probably had attached itself to my handbag (it's like a small backpack, so I wouldn't have noticed) or to my jeans...my cellphone was in the pocket. We were both surprised to say the least. We took it back to the store. I REALLY hope they don't think I stole it, I shop there all the time.
After a lovely coffee drink we went to karaoke. I wasn't sure that I could go as my mouth was still frozen, but something about the drink seemed to clear out the freezing. Yay.
We went to Manekineko and had a great old time. I was thrilled to discover that "I'm Too Sexy" by Right Said Fred was finally available, so I did it. It's such a fun song. (I love the Right Said Fred disc Up. It is so catchy and happy.) I sang a bunch of songs, mostly my favourites, but I tried a couple of newer ones too. I tried Allison's song from American Idol, Alone and thought it wasn't too bad, and I tried something else that was on Idol and all I could think about was how Simon would ream me out (deservedly) for the way I was singing!
We left around 8 and had dinner in New York, New York. It was okay. It still hurt to chew though, then came home via the grocery store. I decided to cook tomorrow. Hurray.
At home we relaxed for a while and then watched American Idol. Tonight was the "Anything you want from top downloads" week. It was okay. A few people really did well, some not so much. I am surprised, but I often agree with the judges.
And that's it. My day. It was fairly good, although I really hope that my mouth starts feeling better soon. Got to go. Night!

Muggy but not rainy.
I went to bed terribly late last night so I didn't get up very early either. Sigh. When I did, F and I talked about where to go for lunch and decided on Moku-Moku. We went over there, had a nice pasta lunch and then did a little errand running. We went to Homac first to check for lights for my bike. I dropped mine a few days ago and it doesn't work anymore. As it wasn't just the lightbulb that was the problem, I ended up getting a new light. Yay. We also got a lot of batteries for the apartment.
We checked out Yamaya as well and got some foreign food and a bit of decaf coffee. Yay. We were going to go to karaoke, but F wasn't doing well at all. His lower back, the part that wasn't affected by the operation, was acting up. Sigh. When he walked today he looked like an old man with arthritis. He was all odd angles. We came home and relaxed for a while.
We decided to go for dinner a little before eight. I suggested the Daiichi Hotel, but F suggested going there, but to their Teppanyaki room. Oh my. We tried it out. We were able to get in and had a great view of our little city. We had local beef plus veggies and garlic rice, salad and miso soup. It was lovely. We could have had more, I wouldn't have minded, but the whole experience is so nice up there that it didn't matter.
F said that he wanted to watch something when we got home, so I suggested getting more Lost. We went off to GEO and rented the next two dvds. We watched one tonight and it was REALLY GOOD. I am pumped to watch more now. It's hard to get hubby to rent things although he says he is enjoying Lost.
He went to bed just before 12 and I'm still up a couple of hours later. Sigh. I do think I'll try and turn in early for a change though.
Tomorrow, F is only working a half day. After that, he'll come home and will take me to the dentist. I've been having quite severe pain on the right side of my mouth again. Then, he'll go to the doctor most likely.

I went to bed terribly late last night so I didn't get up very early either. Sigh. When I did, F and I talked about where to go for lunch and decided on Moku-Moku. We went over there, had a nice pasta lunch and then did a little errand running. We went to Homac first to check for lights for my bike. I dropped mine a few days ago and it doesn't work anymore. As it wasn't just the lightbulb that was the problem, I ended up getting a new light. Yay. We also got a lot of batteries for the apartment.
We checked out Yamaya as well and got some foreign food and a bit of decaf coffee. Yay. We were going to go to karaoke, but F wasn't doing well at all. His lower back, the part that wasn't affected by the operation, was acting up. Sigh. When he walked today he looked like an old man with arthritis. He was all odd angles. We came home and relaxed for a while.
We decided to go for dinner a little before eight. I suggested the Daiichi Hotel, but F suggested going there, but to their Teppanyaki room. Oh my. We tried it out. We were able to get in and had a great view of our little city. We had local beef plus veggies and garlic rice, salad and miso soup. It was lovely. We could have had more, I wouldn't have minded, but the whole experience is so nice up there that it didn't matter.
F said that he wanted to watch something when we got home, so I suggested getting more Lost. We went off to GEO and rented the next two dvds. We watched one tonight and it was REALLY GOOD. I am pumped to watch more now. It's hard to get hubby to rent things although he says he is enjoying Lost.

June 13, 2009 - Saturday
Cloudy and muggy all day.
Not a great day to be honest. It could have been worse though.
I got up, made the bed, showered. Same as usual.
We went out for brunch. F suggested going to Jiro, so that's where we went. I like Jiro a lot, but it's not where I'd like to eat my breakfast. Still at least he'd had a suggestion for a change. I had chicken. After brunch I asked if I could pop into the 7-11 nearby because I wanted a sandwich for the day. I had a long shift and wasn't planning to ask him to come and take me out. I got a sandwich, some veggies and an oolong tea, and I paid. He seemed annoyed. In the car on the way to my school, he asked me for the third time that morning when I would be finished. I wasn't too polite when I told him my schedule was written down in the book at home and that he could check there. I told him it was around 7:30 or 8:00 pm. He was mad that I was annoyed at him. He dropped me off at the school and sped off.
So, for the record, how many Saturdays recently has he made me feel like crap just before my work? At least 2 out of the last 3.
My classes went well, but after my first one, I was reading the newspaper when I got incredibly sleepy. It was so bad that I had to take a nap. I turned off the air conditioner, got out my little futon and set my timer for an hour. I did feel so much better afterwards. I ate my lunch, had some coffee and did some prep for the next couple of days at work.
After my last class, I called him and asked him to get me. He did, and that was nice. However, neither of us wanted to eat yet, so I suggested coffee in Mr. Donut. We went. It was another usual case of me being ignored while he "chats" with some people in an online group he belongs to. I tell you, lately there have been a good few days when I've wanted to grab his phone and either throw it as far as I can, or drop it and stomp on it.
When we left the restaurant, he suggested going to a yakitori restaurant that he likes. As I didn't have any better ideas it was fine with me. We went and had some nice food. The place had Terminator 2 on in Japanese, so we watched that.
We came home and after a bit I asked him to make coffee. We had coffee and some cake that a student had given me. I watched House and it was interesting, but in the middle F sneaked off to bed.
That's it. I'm really tired right now and it's very late. Night.

June 12, 2009 - Friday
Sunny but a bit cloudy too. A little rainy.
Today was an okay day, not terrific, but okay. I got up and watched the news. It was good to be able to sit and drink my coffee while I watched the news.
I had a fairly quiet morning around the apartment. In the early afternoon, I got two books ready to send out. Last night I got a mooch from South Africa, and today a mooch from a woman in Japan that I'd mooched a book from earlier. I packaged the books up and went to the post office to send them.
After my brunch I headed off to the school. I was early so I read the newspaper and then a bit of my magazine. When my student came, we had an okay, but not brilliant lesson. I don't know how much he understands really.
When I finished up after class I called Fumihiko and he brought me home. At home we both worked on dinner. I had done some prep early in the day, so mine didn't take long. I had chopped up the chicken breast and mixed it with some mayonnaise. I had also washed some cherry tomatoes that we had bought yesterday. I put a bed of lettuce down, then added the chicken salad and dotted a few tomatoes around the dish. It looked so nice! Fumihiko made soba. I had some of the soba but I couldn't finish it. Fumihiko always makes too much food. I loved the salad and ate all that was on my plate.
I did the dishes and while I was doing them, Fumihiko disappeared to the bedroom. He's stretched out on the bed snoring away right now. I tried to wake him around midnight to change out of his jeans, but he fell back asleep.
I watched Lost tonight. It was very interesting, but even though I figured out how to get the voices in English, I couldn't understand half of the show! Tonight it featured the Korean lady, and I'm even more useless at Korean than I am at Japanese! Ack.
Tomorrow I have two classes, but there's a huge gap in between them. I'm thinking that I may have to take my computer over and start writing my next movie column. Maybe!
Anyway, I should go. If I get an extra hour of sleep tonight that would be a good thing! Night.

June 11, 2009 - Thursday
Rainy in the morning, some of the afternoon, and night.
I had a pretty good day today. There was no news on, but I drank coffee and relaxed anyway.
In the afternoon, I cooked my brunch and later headed off to the school. I was a little surprised that my first student came, lately she's missed a lot of classes, but she did. We had a good class and then she left. My other two classes followed in quick succession and went reasonably well.
I called my hubby to come and pick me up just before 10. It's too bad that I have to work that late, but I never seem to get done earlier. Or I could but I don't. Or something like that.
We had a really nice dinner at Cocos. Hubby had one of their new dishes, and I had chicken. He had dessert too, which is quite rare for him. He made me taste it though and it was nice!
We came home via the grocery store. He wants to make soba tomorrow night, so I said it was okay if we had some protein too. So, I found a tandori chicken breast for making salad in the store, and I'll make chicken salad too. Just for the record, I did check to see if there were any cheaper chicken breasts that I could cook for myself, but there weren't.
We came home and Hubby took my bike out of his car and I carried the groceries inside. I put them away. Fumihiko went to bed very soon after we got home. I stayed up and did some net surfing. And, I'm quite excited. I got a bookmooch tonight from South Africa. Too cool. I'll hopefully be sending that one off tomorrow. Hope the weather isn't terrible.
Anyway, it was an okay day today. It wasn't the greatest, but it wasn't the worst either. I did finish my Kathy Reichs novel and it was really good. I've read 4 of hers and I think I like her more than Patricia Cornwell. I definitely like her more than the recent Patricia Cornwell's I've read. They've been dismal.

I had a good morning today. My husband made coffee for me this morning, so when I got up I had coffee and watched the news. Hurray. It was on today.
I had a lazy quiet morning around the apartment. Pulp Fiction was on so of course I had to watch it again. The only thing was WOWOW died for about 10 minutes of it. I had no idea what happened to it. It came back though.
Around 3 I went to the post office to mail off my Book Mooch. This one was cheap and easy, it was going to Japan. On the way home I saw one of my ex-students and said hi.
At home again I took a shower and then Fumihiko came home from work. He didn't have to work too late today. We went to the drugstore to pick up some shampoo and TP, then went off for dinner.
We went to Edoichi. It was okay. We both ate too much, but it wasn't an everyday thing.
We came home and watched Desperate Housewives. Well, I did. Fumihiko had his bath during it. I told him he HAS to watch it tomorrow night. It was really good.
That was about it. Tomorrow I'm back at work with 3 classes in a row in the evening. Hopefully things'll go well.
