Tuesday - Hot and sunny

I had a decent day today. I got up a few minutes late and went downstairs. I spent the next couple of hours watching the news and relaxing. I went downstairs and put in a load of laundry and grabbed my breakfast. I came back upstairs and watched a bit of TV.

I realized that I had time to watch a movie today, so I did. I put on Spy from my DVR and it was just what I needed. It was silly and funny and had Jason Statham in it, so what else could I ask for?  Nothing, that’s what, nothing!

I stopped the movie to get my lunch and then I came upstairs and ate. I really had a good afternoon. I even did another Postcrossing and then scanned my outgoing cards and all the incoming cards that I had received. I haven’t done that for 2 or 3 months. Sigh. But, I’m caught up and I even wrote an entry for my Postcrossing blog.

I went downstairs after 5:30 to get ready for dinner. F phoned soon after. Dinner tonight was quite easy. I did a fish stirfry from a grocery pack, reheated yesterday’s vegetable side dishes and then got some rice for K and F. We had everything with salad too. Dinner was pretty good and got okay reviews.

F wasn’t feeling well again so I did the dishes myself. To be honest, it wasn’t a big deal tonight as there weren’t a whole lot of dishes. I finished and went upstairs. When I was there, F came in and we discussed going out. We went out fairly soon.

K had asked F to get her some elastic, but the shop I thought would sell it was already closed. We got some at the hundred yen shop, but it probably isn’t what she wanted. We made a quick trip over to Yamaya to get some feta and then did our regular shopping at MaxValu.

We came back to the house. I checked on my yarn upstairs in the garage and decided it was dry enough to bring back in the house. I did that. I helped F with the groceries and then went upstairs. I took my shower first and watched the last episode of Killing Eve in Season 3. I loved the show.

So that was about my day. I wasn’t terribly busy, but I got a few things done that needed to be done so I’m fine with that. I’ll be cooking dinner again tomorrow night, come on back and see what happens. Until tomorrow….

Wednesday - Hot and Sunny

I got up this morning and watched the news. It was on, sort of! I’m finding the news on TV in different times and pieces. It works more or less for me.

I had a quiet morning, I skipped breakfast. I ate a couple of meal replacement bars and thought that would do. I did have a cup of tea and also worked out what to wear.

At 11 am I got a text from my friend and she said she was on her way, so I went downstairs. K invited me into her room, so I sat for a minute or two.  My friend showed up soon after and we drove off.

We had lunch today in Iskia, a famous pizza and pasta place just outside Tsuruoka proper. I’d been there once before with F and it was so busy and we were rushed and it didn’t seem anything special so we never went again.  However, today was good. The waitress spoke good English, and there were some interesting things on the menu.  My friend had a margarita pizza and I had a 4 cheese pizza that came with honey on the side. I didn’t think I’d like the honey since I don’t like honey, but on the cheese, it tasted really good.

After our lunch, we went back into town and had a cup of something nice at Starbucks along with a bit of chatting.  Sadly for me, my friend had to get ready for work, so she dropped me off at S-Mall and went on her way.

I did a bit of shopping at the mall. I got some of my usual stuff, checked out the music shop for DVDs, and looked in lots of places today for things.  I didn’t buy too much though.

Around 4:30 I went to Doutor and had a decaf drink.  I read some of my book, Y is for Yesterday and just relaxed. F called around 6:30 to say that he was just leaving work and would be half an hour. He came very close to that.

We went to a grocery store to get his mother a bento for dinner tonight. I picked up a few things for dinner tomorrow night and then we went to the gas station to pick up dinner for the car.

We delivered the bento, F changed his clothes, and then we went out again and had dinner. We ended up at Coco’s because not much else was open at that time of night. We had a pretty good meal. I had pasta and shared a bacon and roasted potato ajio with F. We had just been seated when an ex student of mine came in with her daughter. I said hello, but at the end realized that I had taught the daughter too. Sadly she doesn’t keep up with her English.

F and I came back to the house and had a nice evening in. I asked that we watch at least one episode of The Good Doctor.  It was the Christmas episode with the plague. We still have to watch the second part soon.

That’s about it for us. F went to bed, I’m up for a little.  Come back later if you like and see what I get up to on Thursday. Until tomorrow….

Friday - Muggy.  Rainy season is coming…

An odd day.

This morning I got up and did my usual stuff, except instead of having tea or hot coffee right away, I had some of my iced coffee that we bought last night.

I had a quiet morning. I had thought about going over to the park for a walk, but I didn’t.  It might have been my last chance since the rainy season is nearly upon us.

I did receive a postcard in the mail today, a nice one from Germany.  First one this month I think.

The rest of my day went rather like all the others have lately, quietly.  When I went down to wash my lunch dishes I did so and then I gave K some of my iced coffee.

F called later to say he was on his way home.  When he arrived we talked about dinner and decided to walk to a local restaurant and have dinner. That way he could have a drink too.  We went to get a bento for his mother and a couple of other things too.  Yay us.

We brought the things back and either put them away or gave them to K for her dinner.  Then F and I set out.  We went to one of the local Korean restaurants.  It was quite a long walk, along roads with no sidewalks, but we made it.  When we got to the place and went in we were a bit surprised.  The place had changed inside. It used to be a mishmash of kitschy furnishings, now it was quite stylish and tasteful.  It looked better, but sadly the food just wasn’t as good.  We each had bibinba and shared a chichimi. It was good, but not great.  We decided that we probably wouldn’t go there again.

We walked back to the house via the convenience store for some ice cream and cold drinks.  Back at the house, we ate our ice cream before it melted and drank our drinks.  We watched The Good Doctor and then I watched Bates Motel.  A double shot of Freddie Highmore.

F and I had an argument about an entry on my old blog. I had made the mistake of reading part of it to him.  Sigh.  He really has no sense of humour sometimes.  So, does this mean that the whole weekend is spoiled?  Somehow, I think it does.  I’m not really sure that it was going to be a good one anyway.

The whole point of us going out to dinner tonight was to spend time together and be able to chat.  Both coming and going to the restaurant and back, we didn’t talk.  At the restaurant, we didn’t talk.  They had free wifi and so we were both paying too much attention to our phones to talk to each other.

Anyway, I’d better end this now.  If tomorrow goes well, you’ll likely hear from me, if it doesn’t, you might not! Come back later and see what happens. Until tomorrow….

Tuesday - Cloudy with some rain in the afternoon

An okay day.

After a howling windy night, F and I got up this morning and went off to work.  He went to his paying job, and I went to the apartment to work on it.  I admit it, I relaxed for a while, but did a few things like do laundry.  I did a bit of spot cleaning and when F came home for lunch, got out of his way.

In the afternoon, I had lunch and then got quite busy.  I worked on F's old room for his clothes.  I went through some of the boxes and tossed a lot of garbage, then boxed up the good stuff!  I started to clean the walls, but realized soon that I would need to use the really strong cleaners, so did that.  I got some areas quite clean, others less so.  I thought I did a pretty good job, all things considered.

F came home a bit later and of course proceeded to re-do all that I did.  Ack.  He didn't really improve that much either.  I did ask him gently at dinner tonight to please do something different tomorrow…I need him to go through his closet and see if he still needs the clothes there, or if they can be tossed.  In his younger days, my dear hubby liked polyester a lot.  I'm trying to wean him off that stuff!

I was in a bit of a panic tonight because I wanted to go to the electric shop to get a cable for my printer and some new ink.  F watched a show about a boxer when he wasn't cleaning.  He knew that I HAD to go to the shop too, it wasn't a frivolous thing.  With me having some classes on Thursday and Friday, I needed to be able to print out lesson plans and word cards, that kind of thing.

Finally, we left the apartment just before 7 pm.  We got to the electronic shop and I was able to get the things I needed.  I wanted to get everything tonight because if something went wrong, I still had Wednesday as a buffer.

We had dinner at a restaurant near the store.  F had no preference and they had both Japanese and Western style food.  I had the pasta of the day and it was lovely, F had a Chinese style dish and didn't like it much.  Sigh.

We went to the local grocery store and picked up a few things for F's mum, us, and my work, then came back to F's house.  I got some mail, and a postcrossing card.  That was a tad surprising!  I managed to register it and it had been travelling a long time.  I put my account on hold in the middle of February, so it was sent before then.

We came upstairs, I put new ink in my printer, then tried the cord we bought.  I got everything to work and then I printed everything out.  Whew!  Tomorrow I should make up the word cards…put a backing on them or something and do a last minute check on things.

Oh, and I managed to post to my blog last night!  Woot.  I typed it on my computer, AirDropped it to my phone and then emailed it in.  I think I tried to do that before, but it didn't work.  Last night…success!  I have a backlog of entries but I'm not really sure how to set them up, so will wait until I have my internet actually set up.

Well, I have to go.  It's been an okay day, but it was quite busy in the middle.  Come back soon and see if I'm still here.  Until tomorrow….

Friday - Clear and rainy
Remembrance Day.
A sad day.

I overslept this morning by a lot. It was dark out and that’s just going to have to be my excuse.  When I checked Facebook I saw the sad news about Leonard Cohen.  He had died.  With the news of the US Election and some sad news I heard from a friend, it just seemed like a horrible day, one that I wanted to go back to bed and hide from.  But, I didn’t.

I had an earlyish lunch since I got up too late for breakfast.  I had a little texting time with F and then relaxed for a bit.  I got some computer things done, washed up the dishes and the nabe for later and then went out.

I went to the post office first to make a payment and then continued downtown.  I walked around the mall a little, and then went to Doutor and had French Toast and a soy latte.  I was surprised both at how good and big the French Toast was. I only wanted something small…I had forgotten to take medicine earlier and am not supposed to take it on an empty stomach. Still, it was good.

I left the mall around 6:30 and walked home in the dark.  Sigh. It is so dark outside now.  It wasn’t raining anymore, which was nice.

At home, F called to say he had finally finished work, and he came home.  He made the nabe for us.  We’d bought some kimchi soup yesterday and he used that for the base, so it actually tasted really good for a change!  We finished the whole thing tonight, no leftovers at all.

We’ve had a fairly quiet evening.  I watched some TV, including the double shot of Shameless.  The show cracks me up so much.  It really does.

I spent quite a bit of time writing my blog entry for my postcard blog, so if you are bored, have a gander at that! Other than that, I’m out of here.  Tomorrow I plan to go yarn shopping, but I’m not sure that I’ll be successful.  Wish me luck, as I’ll be going with F who has no idea about crafting at all.  Come back later and see how it goes.  Until tomorrow….

Friday - Cold with showers

A nice day.

I got up early this morning and did my usual things.  F kept popping in for a moment here and there.  I was going to do my workout early, but time got away from me again.  Instead, I waited and F came home for lunch.  It was a good thing I hadn’t started.  I did it after he left again and got a good workout.  I was really into it today.

In the afternoon I had lunch and scanned my cards.  I walked them off to the post box too. F came by after work to pick up his stuff and then left for his party.

I had my dinner which was frozen pasta, wieners, and salad.  It doesn’t sound that good, but it really wasn’t bad at all.  I watched a couple of episodes of White Collar and when I had finished dinner, got started on something in the kitchen.

Tonight I made a fruit crumble.  We’re going to a friend’s for lunch tomorrow and she suggested that I bring a dessert.  I thought about buying something first, but then realized I’d rather make something. I haven’t used this recipe before, so I really hope it worked out!  It looks good and smells great.

I watched Castle while my crumble was baking…it was good as always.  After it finished I decided to do something a tad different.  I watched 4 episodes of Mr. Selfridge.  It was very interesting.  I hardly ever get to watch it. I tend to keep it for days when F is away because it doesn’t have Japanese subtitles.  And he wouldn’t be interested in it anyway.

I’m now watching The Holiday as I blog.  I’m sitting on the couch to blog which is a big change for me.  Usually I sit in my little computer desk corner.

I’m not sure exactly when F will be home tomorrow.  He’ll likely go over to his mother’s when he leaves the hotel and then come home so we can go to Sakata and visit my friend’s apartment.

I don’t know what the rest of the day will bring.  I’m hoping that it will go well.  I don’t know if we’ll go to a movie or not.  If we do there are a couple of films we could go and see.  Come back later and see what my Saturday turns out to be.  Until tomorrow….

Thursday - Clear and sunny

A pretty good day.

I got up this morning just before 9 am.  I came through to the couch and watched The X-Files and made breakfast and tea for myself.  After that, I kind of fell asleep. I didn’t really wake up until quite late.  When I did rouse myself I got up and got dressed.  I did a short workout too.  Today I actually wore shoes while I did it.  It meant I wasn’t slipping around on my sidesteps, but I did make quite a bit more noise.

I did some computer stuff and watched some old stuff off the DVR, then had a lovely lunch.  I made myself a bacon and guacamole sandwich, with a touch of salsa.  It was good!

I scanned my cards after that, and after 5 pm again, ran them off to the post office.  The weird thing is that I almost did literally run them to the post office.  Since my walk was so fast I thought I might as well try to jog a little.  I didn’t do very much, but I can’t really say I have intentionally tried to run in years!  I also wore an old pair of jeans on the walk. They looked okay and felt good, as long as I was vertical.  When I sat down, the tummy on them was a bit uncomfortable! They are the old kind of jeans, ones without any stretch in them.

When I came home, I got the kitchen ready for F to make the nabe.  I did the dishes, and even set the table a bit for him.  He was home a bit later and changed and then put dinner together.  He made a nabe and it was good.  We bought the soup tonight. In all honesty, the nabe smelled quite bad when it was cooking, but it tasted good.  We had a couple of bowls of nabe and then I got out dessert.  We each had a container of peach yogurt with a slice of fruit cake shared between us.  It was good.

I did the dishes, which didn’t take long and then settled in at my computer for a bit.  I wrote a couple of postcard blog entries and then asked for a postcrossing card. I went over to the couch for Bones and knitted a bit of my hat.

In the rest of the evening, I wrote my cards and got them ready to send out.  After that I blogged, watched a bit more TV and ate a piece of Valentine’s Day chocolate from my husband.  Yum!

Tomorrow, I’m not sure what I’ll get up to. Come back a bit later and find out.  Until tomorrow!

Friday - Rainy all day

A good day.

I got up early today, at least before my alarm went off.  Hurray for that! I got up, watched my shows and had breakfast.  I even remembered to take my last medicine dose.  Yes!

I made the bed during the break between shows and I even got dressed into my workout clothes.  That meant that I was ready at about the right time to do a 30 minute workout before F came home for lunch.  I did it too. I did a brisk one, so was glad that it was only 30 minutes total!

F did come home during his lunch, so I was able to stay out of his way. Hurray for that.

In the afternoon I watched Broadchurch 2.  I made sure to set the DVR for last week.  I had it all on the machine before, but we were needing space so I deleted it all.

I had lunch and then took a shower.  It was about time really!  I was going to walk to the post office, but just as I decided I would, the rain came back really strong and I decided not to do it.  I thought I’d ask F if he could take me after work.

I watched the news and did a bit of packing my stuff.  I hope that I have enough for my trip.  I’m a  tad worried that I don’t have enough, which is rather funny as I’m sure that I do! It is just if the weather tanks while I’m in Sendai I’m not sure what I will do. Manage I suppose!

F called me and I asked if he’d take me to the post office after he was done with his mother.  I wasn’t too surprised when he said he’d be right over.  He was and we drove over to the main post office.  It was a bit tough as traffic was terrible, but we made it there.  Of course, F offered to pay, but I told him quite truthfully that I needed to break my large bill.

He dropped me off at home again and then went over to his mother’s. I got a start on dinner.  Tonight I steamed some broccoli, then boiled some pasta, fried some chicken and washed some lettuce!  I was quite busy and it was a bit stressful.  My left shoulder blade has been really painful for a few weeks and it got very bad during cooking. After F came to the table I excused myself and went into the bedroom and just tried to ease out the kinks.  It didn’t work completely.  F actually asked what was wrong afterwards, which was surprising.

We ate and dinner was good. There are a few leftovers for F to eat if he wants them over the next couple of days.

I spent the rest of the evening getting ready for my trip or working on the tree trunk of my little Christmas tree. It went well, and I made two of them tonight.

Which brings me to the end of this entry.  I’ll be away for a couple of nights in Sendai. I’m quite booked up time-wise, so I hope that I am able to do a bit of relaxing.  I’ll be meeting up with friends so that will be a lot of fun, I hope! In any case, please don’t wait by your computer for my next update!  I’ll be back either Monday or Tuesday evening.  Until then….

Tuesday - Cloudy and rainy

A good day.

I woke up when F’s alarm went off, and then again when mine did. I got up at the latter one and began my day.

I wrote my blog entry for the day before in the morning and posted it.  I had breakfast and some tea, and watched some telly.  I was late getting going, but finally after noon, I got into my workout clothes and did another Leslie Sansonne workout.  This was a two mile one and I was sweating quite a bit by the end.  Yay me.

I watched a bit more TV, wrote up some of my postcards for my postcard blog and then took a shower.  I did a bit of cleaning while I was in there too.

I watched some TV and some of the stuff on the DVR.  I’ve finished Cathy and the Big C, and deleted a bit of stuff off the DVR.

Around 5 pm I went into the kitchen and began to work on dinner.  I wanted to make baked sweet potato fries, so I did.  I had a batch in the oven baking when F came home.  I was surprised that he was so early, but he told me that he was still on call until 10 pm tonight.  If his office called he would have to go.

I hurried up with the rest of dinner, and got the chicken in to bake in the toaster oven when I put a batch of sweet potatoes in the oven.  When it was finally time to eat, it got rave reviews.  I also whipped up some garlic mayonnaise and that was really nice with the fries!

I had done a lot of the clean up as I worked on dinner tonight, so I didn’t feel guilty about letting F do the dishes.

I decided to do a bit of postcrossing since it has been ages since I sent any cards.  I requested and wrote 4 cards tonight, I’ll send them in the morning hopefully. I scanned them as well.

At 10 pm I watched Grey’s Anatomy from the couch and worked on the doily.  I have finished row 9 I think. It looks really good and is going quite well.  I hope it continues that way!

I caught The Following today too.  It’s still quite a scary show.  I like it, but hate the violence.

And that is me.  It is a little after 1 am and I am still up.  Hmm.  I wonder why?  I am tired now, so I think I’ll go off to bed.  Please come back later and find out what I get up to.  Until tomorrow….

September 21, 2015

Monday - Warm and Sunny, gorgeous day!

And a good day….

I got up quite early this morning.  F was up earlier and off to his mother’s house, but I got up and even showered.  I had just finished when he came back.  I watched Burn Notice and then we had some tea.

We had a nice quiet morning, left here around 11:45 to go to the craft store for my replacement hook.  Sadly, they don’t stock the same kind that I broke, so I got another one in the same size and hoped for the best.  Different manufacturers can vary the size of their hooks, even though technically they are the same size!

We drove off to Voice and waited for our friends to arrive.  They were a tad late, but we called the restaurant and told them we were running late.  We met up and then drove to the restaurant.  We had a lovely meal at F’s favourite place, Naa.  It’s an old farmhouse so the space is really neat.  The food is home grown, F says it is also organic.  It was good.  I had both pork and fish, so did he.  Most of the others just had the pork.  I think everyone liked it, although some people felt that the meat portion was too small….actually, I do too!

We weren’t ready to go home yet, so we went to S-Mall to Baskin Robbins for some ice cream.  It was rather fun.  Both F and I had only one type each, but the others had double scoops. I tried the Baseball Nuts and it was really nice. It was vanilla ice cream with black raspberry threads and cashew nuts.  F had Banana Split Supreme and said it was nice. We chatted and laughed, but finally had to break up our party.  We went upstairs and saw them off in their car, then F suggested going downstairs again and having a drink, so we did that!

We spent a nice few minutes at Doutors.  I had my last Royal Soy Milk Tea for a while and then we hacked the hundred yen shop.  I got a few things, mostly for our apartment.  We came home after that and relaxed for a bit.

F went over to his Mum’s house to take care of the dog and do a little shopping for her. I stayed home and worked on my Postcard blog.  I have entries almost until I come back, which is quite good I think.

We went out for dinner around 7:15.  F wanted yakitori, but the place was closed, then the yakiniku place he wanted to go to was full until after 9 pm.  His next yakiniku place was closed too, but the third one was open and we only had to wait a few minutes to get in.  Score.  We had a nice meal there.

I was trying to get home in time to attend a meeting on Skype, but it turns out that Skype was down for everyone, so the meeting didn’t happen.  They’ll try again tomorrow night, but I’m not sure if I’ll be able to attend.  I need a quiet night and to get some sleep.

So, to that end, I’ll just let you know that I won’t be blogging tomorrow night, and that blogging will likely be light for the foreseeable future.  I’m not sure how much computer time I’ll have when I’m in Canada.  I’d rather spend time with friends and family while I have them around! However, I’m sure I’ll be back sometime in October with all the mundane details of my life!  Until then….

March 10, 2015

Tuesday - Cloudy, then windy and snowy at night.

An okay day.

I got up a little bit before 9 this morning and held down the couch for a bit.  I watched my shows and F came home for a quick visit.  After he left, I fell asleep for a few minutes!

I had breakfast and got on with my day.  During the day I did some cleaning and spending time on my computer. I wrote several entries for my Postcrossing Blog.  F called to say that he’d be late.  He wasn’t ready to leave the place he was at and the bad weather had made the highway shut down.  Sigh.

He phoned again to say that he would be leaving soon, but probably wouldn’t be home until 8:30…poor thing.  I spent some time on my computer and then around 7:30 I started working on dinner.  I prepped some broccolini and also washed and hulled some strawberries.  I set the table, the usual kind of stuff.  When he called me to say he was on his way home from his office, I cooked the broccolini and started to heat up the kettle and the chicken from last night.

We were able to eat soon after he arrived and dinner was quite nice.  F was tired for obvious reasons, so I let him off the dishes and did them myself.  Fortunately I had done them all through the prep so it didn’t take long!

We had a quiet evening.  F was tired and quiet, I wasn’t so tired, just glad to see him.

Tomorrow I have some postcards to scan and hopefully I’ll be able to run them to the post office.  We may go out in the evening to a memorial thing at the local mall, but I’m not sure really.  I’d like to go to something, but not sure if I’ll fit in or not.  Well, that’s it for me.  Until tomorrow….

September 11, 2014

Thursday - Warm and sunny

A good day.  I got up this morning mostly on time, got dressed and went for a walk.  It was great.  It was still cool from all of the rain we had last night.  I didn't realize when I updated my list of music that  three Barenaked Ladies songs had found their way onto the list, so I was pleasantly surprised.

I came home and did most of my usual morning things except I ate breakfast a little earlier and I started crocheting a granny square.  I fell asleep however right at the end of the show.  Sigh.  Guess I'm not going to bed early enough!

I got a call from F inviting me out for lunch.  I told him that we had lots of leftovers, so I'd rather eat them.  He still wanted to come home for lunch, so he brought a bento.  In the meantime, I took a quick shower.

F came, we had tea and he ate.  I wasn't ready yet.  After he left, I watched a bit of TV and did some stuff on my computer.  Around 2:30 I had my lunch and it was yummy. I had leftovers and they were delicious.

I scanned some of my incoming cards in the afternoon so that I could make entries to my Postcard Blog in the evening.  It took a little bit of time, but went well.  I uploaded the scans to Postcrossing and to my blog.

A little before F came home I went into the kitchen and started dinner.  I wasn't sure how it would work out.  I cut up a cucumber that F had brought home, washed the mushrooms, and then he was home!  I began cooking dinner.  Tonight we had pasta with a bought sauce, which I added ground chicken and the mushrooms too.  We had a side salad and cucumber sticks too. It got rave reviews from F…and I liked it a lot too!

F did the dishes and I watched telly.  Tonight was a big night and I watched The X-Files (with Donnelly Rhodes and Michael Horse), then House and BonesBones was a really good one….I was in tears at the end.  It's been a bit that kind of day.  A friend of mine has just lost her mother, today was my mother's birthday, and so when a character died, they had a memorial for him and I just couldn't help it.

Anyway, it was a quiet except for the TV kind of night, but a fairly good one.  Tomorrow I hope to get packed and finish getting ready for our trip!  Wish me luck with that.  I'd also really like to go out for a little bit so that I can relax and have a little me-time.  But, it might not happen.  I'm also cooking dinner again and hoping that we'll eat everything so there won't be leftovers in the fridge for that long!  Gotta go.  Night!

September 27, 2013

Friday - Sunny but cool

A pretty good, productive day.

I got up this morning at a goodly time, but I was still tired.  I ended up sleeping rather a lot on the couch and then finally the bed.

In the afternoon I spoke strictly to myself and got up.  I started packing my suitcase and backpack for the trip.  I'm not completely finished, but I am close.  Whew!

I had a late lunch and scanned some cards, which should magically appear on my postcrossing blog in a few days.  The scanning is something that is easier done when my husband isn't around.  His spot on the couch is the best place to sit when doing the scanning, so I wanted it done before he came home.

After F came home I watched Project Runway and then started dinner.  Tonight we had Salmon Meuniere, basil pasta and salad and it was darn nice!  I had to stretch the salmon coating, so I added a few things from my kitchen shelf and it was yummy.  F was quite impressed with me I think.

He did the dishes and I got stuck back into my movie column.  I got most of it done, apart from the ending.  Tomorrow I hope to have a bit of time to re-read it and then write my closing.  It's a bit of a departure as this time I'm asking other club members for their input.  It's quite interesting.

In the evening, we tried to watch a few movies on WOWOW.  First up was Haywire, but although the action scenes looked cool, the movie didn't hold my attention.  Next up was the Canadian Take This Waltz which held more of my attention, but I really would like to see it again when I'm not distracted.  There were some scenes in it that were surprising to put it mildly.  We finished up with the end of Pride and Prejudice on NHK.  It was the Keira Knightley one, and I really do need to re-watch the whole thing again. It's been too long. And that's it. I turned off the TV.

F went to bed a little while ago and I'm going to try to go soon too.  I've had a good night.  I found out that a friend of mine, that I haven't seen in years because of bad timing, will be able to come up to Edmonton to see me.  Hurray for that!

I'm now blogging before bed and listening to Right Said Fred.  I love the cd of theirs that I have…Up.  It is just pure fun to listen to.  Anyway, tomorrow I have an appointment with the chiropractor and I'll probably go to the doctor as well.  I have to do a little more shopping and a little more packing.  I sure hope I manage to fit everything in!  That's it from me.  Night!

August 28, 2013

Wednesday - Sunny & warm

A good day.

The first thing I remember this morning is waking up with F sitting in the living room laughing at me.  I don't know how I did it, but I overslept again and someone had sneaked home and was eating yogurt on the couch.

I wasn't happy, but I got up and was quite nice to him.  After all, the person I was mad at was myself, not him!

He left to get back to work and I got on with my day.  He'd brought me some glue for my crochet hook. I have a lovely bamboo hook and it came apart last night.  I glued it back together and hoped for the best.

I had a quiet day at home.  I had breakfast.  F had made yummy sunflower seed bread in the bread maker and it was fabulous.  Later on, I had some toast and my avocado for lunch.  Yum.

I had a fairly quiet day at home. I worked on my new blog, Little Epistles, checking on settings and the layout, etc.  Later on, I posted some of the cards to it as well.  Yay for me.

F came home tonight and worked on the driveway again.  The poor guy is so busy.  He came in and took a bath so I got dinner underway while he was away.  It came together fairly quickly tonight, and was okay.  We had sauteed garlic and black pepper chicken, salad and some Chinese style dumplings.  They were good, but needed a little spice.  I couldn't find any hot mustard in the fridge.

In the evening we relaxed a bit.  F checked on some things for our trip, so did I.  Then, at 11 I went over to the couch for a little bit of crochet and Grey's Anatomy.  I think they must have pulled up the writing a bit again, because I'm enjoying the show again.  I almost stopped watching last year.

That's about it for me.  Tomorrow I'm going to try and get out to the mall so I can get some more wool and finish my little scarf.  It is very ruffly and cute!  I'll try and post a picture when I get it done.  I have a few craft things to post.  Well, one completed work, one is still in process.  That's it.  Talk to you tomorrow.  Night!

August 29, 2011

Monday - Warm and sunny? I didn’t go out.

I went to bed late so I slept a bit late today too. However, I did get quite busy when I finally got up. I did 3 loads of laundry and hung it up to dry.

I also watched the end of The Wizard of Oz. It’s been years since I saw it, and it was a bit freaky. Fun though.

I finally got stuck into my movie column. I had started a bit of it before, but I have written the body of it I think, I just have to write an intro and a conclusion. At least that’s what I think now! I covered an odd bunch of films, I really did.

F was home a bit late tonight, so I was a bit later when I made dinner. It was just a basic stirfry, but it was good. I used some broccoli, onion, hauksai and mushrooms and added them to a package from the store. F was very complimentary for a change. He did the dishes too, but there really wasn’t that many. Gotta love the one pan meals!

We had a quiet evening. F watched sports most of the night. Every now and then he’d tell me a little factoid from what he was watching, but since I wasn’t paying attention, I had no idea what he was talking about. At 11 pm I watched Medium and also rolled up another ball of cotton. Hopefully I’ll get to do more crochet with it soon.

That’s really about it for me. F is getting a bit frustrated since he hasn’t received any cards yet, and a couple of his haven’t arrived. One of his send-ees hasn’t been online for more than 10 days, so it’s a little sad for him.

Oh, and my dear readers have spoken. I’ll post some of my received cards on this blog, probably under another entry. I hope you enjoy them!

Night!

May 7th, 2011 again!

Saturday - Sunny and warm, rainy at night.

I just realised as I was preparing to blog tonight that I messed up the dates for the last few entries. I shall have to go and fix everything, but it makes my blogging a bit odd.

I had a good day. I went to bed a little earlier than the night before, but still had a hard time getting up this morning. I was up before F though, which was rather amazing.

We had a quiet morning at home and then had brunch in Gusto. We had the daily lunch so it was okay, not great. F dropped me off at my school and I got ready for my class. Yes, class. Singular. Sigh. Two of my three students cancelled for today. One called and cancelled last night, so I understand, the other was sick and her mother cancelled for her today. I let her off because I would rather not teach a person who is sick, and because she was the last class of the day, I could go home early.

At the school I prepped for my class, taught it and then after worked on paper work and then reading the papers. I read them and did a bit of cleaning. I did a thorough vacuum of the school and washed the dishes. I called F around 5:30 to come and get me.

We had royal milk teas in Doutors and then sushi in Kintaro for dinner. That was quite nice. We both ate a bit, but not enough to get stuffed. After dinner we made a quick trip to the drugstore for kitchen and bathroom necessaries and then came home.

F went to bed almost immediately and proceeded to sleep for the next five hours. he got up just as Heroes was finishing. On one hand, I’m glad he got the sleep, on the other, it was a bit lonely for me! I worked on computer things and then did a couple of rows of my crochet on the couch. That was nice.

And really that was about it for my day. I was thinking of fixing up my blog entries, but I’m really tired.

Tomorrow is a bit of a mystery. F wants to get new glasses so we’ll likely do that, and I would like to go to the craft store for a bit. That’s it for me. Night!

1000th Post

I finally came up with a plan for this, my 1000th blog post. I have decided to mention a few things for which I am thankful.

1) I'm thankful for my gypsy childhood. Living in so many different countries before I was twelve gave me quite an interesting perspective on life.
2) For having parents that loved me, and a sister who, although I exasperate her, has been an amazing source of support in my life.
3) For books, even the ones I don't like! I have spent so many happy hours reading and learning.
4) For Friendship, with a capital F. For my friends near and far, both those I have met and those that I haven't met in person, yet.
5) For my students, who have taught me so much about perseverance and patience.
6) For my Funny Fellow who goes by F these days...for loving me, supporting me, and making me laugh even when I don't want to, I'm so grateful for you, m'darlin'.
7) For my readers...I know you're out there. Please delurk and say "Hello!" You know who I am, I'd like to know who you are.

January 25, 2010

Monday--Rainy then snowy and blowy.

My day got off to a bad start. F woke up, looked at his clock, said "I'm late for work" and took the day off. He wasn't feeling well, but I was a bit put out. Today was my last day off before my trip and I had a ton of stuff to do, stuff that wasn't good to do around one's husband.

He also has this weird thing where he thinks that just because I sleep in on Sundays, I also sleep in on Mondays. I usually don't. I know there have been a few cases where I was really tired or sick and I do, but generally I get up. I had to be up today anyway because I was expecting a delivery from my book publisher.

Anyhoo, he did end up sleeping for a lot of the day. I calmed down after a while and got on with my day. I did a few things. I made a cd for a friend, I wrote a bunch of email, I read the paper, and I watched my CSI shows. F slept most of the afternoon, except when he got up and made lunch for himself. I offered but he wanted something different than I wanted to make.

In the evening I went into the bedroom to wake him up. It was after 7 and I wanted to go to my school to set the heater. We did that, and then had dinner at New York, New York. I noticed that they had sirloin steak on special, so we both had that. It wasn't bad actually. We had a nice meal there and then came home.

At home F wanted to watch some DVDs so he put on his Alias Smith and Jones and we watched it for an hour. He's enjoying it so much. Apparently they had the show on when he was younger, but it was dubbed into Japanese! I had to twist his arm to order it last year, but he admitted how glad he was that I did! After one episode of AS&J, we watched a couple of episodes of Corner Gas. There was one in particular that I wanted him to watch, Eight Samurai. It was about a town in Japan that wanted to twin with Dog River, so they sent a sword. Mayhem ensued. It was funny, but I think F was too shocked that they would treat a katana in that fashion. The other one he had a good chuckle at. It was about how dirty Hank's truck was. Hilarity ensued. I'm glad that F gets Canadian humor. After 8 years of me, he had better!

I joined F on the couch for much of this and I did something odd. I did some crochet. I had been working on a cowl and I just decided that I didn't like it at all. I'm going to make myself a kind of hat and so I ripped out some of what had been done before and started again with this. I just started so I'm not sure how it's going to go! Wish me luck eh?

At 11, Grey's Anatomy was on and we watched that. It was okay. The plot is definitely thickening regarding Izzy. Gee, I wonder what is going to happen? (I know already, but I try not to do spoilers!)

Oh, and one other thing. One of the blogs I check everyday is doing a feature on the special Yamagata Kitkat. I saw them in a shop and sent a box to the blogger so that she could review them. I hope you'll find her review and blog as interesting as I do.

I lied. That should be TWO other things! Today was Robert Burns day. Go out and eat a haggis, do the Highland Fling, or read some poetry in the Scottish vernacular. Och aye, and away with ye all now. Night!

End of an Era

For the past 7 or so years, I've been using these sheets to keep track of my coding for my other blog. I put the last tick in last night. And so, I think it is time to put an end to the daily update of my other blog. I'll continue to leave it open for things like my book and movie reviews, but I'll stop updating it on a daily basis.

End of an era indeed, for me.
