Thursday - Muggy but not actually rainy

A goodish day.

I had thought about taking myself off to see a movie this morning, but didn’t do it. It was threatening rain and I didn’t want to risk it.  On the whole, I think I’m glad I didn’t go, as I’ve seen all the films anyway.  I watched a little bit of telly at the apartment and also fell asleep for a while.  Oops.

F came back to the apartment for lunch with a bento for himself. He did ask if I wanted anything, but I didn’t.  I had decided that I would go out after he left.

A while after F went back to work, I rode off on my bike.  I went to the craft store where I bought myself some new knitting needles, then to the drugstore and finally to the grocery store for a bento and some other food for myself.

I came back to the apartment and had a little feast while I watched last night’s Suits.  Really like that show.
After lunch, I decided to shake a leg a bit and did a few things around the apartment.  I picked up a few things and binned them, I put a few of F’s “treasures” into his box for him.

F was late tonight, he didn’t get back to the apartment until 6 pm.  I gave him some tea and some chocomint cookies when he finally sat down.

We had dinner at Cocos tonight and it was okay. I had linguini with pesto sauce, F had Jambalaya with chicken and then we shared their “dessert of the month”, French Fries with chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream.  They were a bit odd to be honest. I think they were going for sweet and salty, which is a nice combo, but it didn’t really work here. F ordered a bento from the restaurant for his mother’s dinner, so she got something freshly made for a change.  She said she liked it later.

French fries with chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream.
The ice cream was hard, soft ice cream might have worked better.

We came back to the house and came upstairs.  We relaxed for a while. I restarted my hat again, I’m only 3 rows in, but that’s okay. It’s started and that’s really all I care about.

Tomorrow I have to get a few things accomplished in the apartment.  I think/hope we’ll take out the microwave, so I want to clean the inside.  I might get a bit of a start on another room too.  I’ll have to see what I can do about that.  Come back later on and see what I get up to.  Until tomorrow....

Saturday - Rainy

A good day!

I went to bed after 4 last night and vowed that I’d sleep in this morning, if I had the chance.  I didn’t!  I woke up around 9 and F called the doctor’s office to see if we could get flu shots.  We could, so I had to take a fast shower and then get on the road with him.

We had ages to wait in the crowded doctor’s office, but at least it gave me lots of time to read my Sue Grafton (X).  We got our shots after a cursory examination, then were on our way.

We went to the newish restaurant that used to be a bento shop, near my dentist’s office.  We had a fast and quite good lunch.  We both had a steak don set.  I like the food there, but it is so crowded and not set up for people to have a comfortable lunch that I probably should stop suggesting we go.  We went over to Doutors to have coffee and dessert after lunch. That was very nice to be honest. Then, we zoomed off to Mikawa.

We went to Mikawa Shopping Centre to pick up my yarn for the blanket I’m making.  We got it quickly and had a few discounts too, so that was nice.  Afterwards, I told F I wanted to look in the ladies department, so we had a snoop.  I found a shirt for my niece and a dress/tunic for me so that was good.  They were both on sale with an extra bonus if you bought two, so doubly happy thing!

We came back home for a while and relaxed.  Around 5:30, F started talking about dinner.  We were planning to see the 8:15 movie in Tsuruoka, so I thought it was too early.  However, he found out that a restaurant we like in Amarume was open tonight, so he wanted to go there.  It’s a bit of a drive to get there, so it was a good idea to leave around 6:30 when we did.

We arrived at the restaurant and were able to go in right away.  We ordered our dinner and then saw a nice set on the specials menu that probably would have been better for me at least!  Oh well.  We both had yakiniku with rice, miso soup, salad and pickles.

When we finished our meal, we paid and zoomed back to the Tsuruoka cinema to see Brooklyn.  It was great.  I was in tears at the end, and F loved it too.  For me, I saw so much of my life in hers.  Of course it was a different time, but I left my home country and family to move thousands of miles away for a job!

After the movie, I didn’t want to go home, and I didn’t really want to eat anything.  I suggested going over to Mos Burgers for coffee and that’s what we did.  F had a burger there too, but I just had a Vienna Coffee.

We came home in time to watch Scandal and Project Runway, so really, my day was complete!  The film was fabulous, the food today was amazing, and for the most part, F and I got on really well.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to get some sleep.  I’m very, very tired!  Until tomorrow….

Friday - Thundery, but clear in the evening.

A good day.

Today I overslept just a tad.  I was up before I missed very much of The X-Files though.  Yay.  I had some tea and today I made myself some oatmeal, so had that with my tea.

I didn’t fall asleep on the couch today, so watched the shows and then just before 1 I did a two-mile walk/workout.  It felt quite good.  I did it with shoes on and used the band again.

After I worked out, I went into the kitchen and started preparing my slow cooker for dinner.  I wanted to make a vegetarian stew that I’d seen on Facebook.  I got it started and then put everything in the slow cooker and left it.  It was later than I had hoped by then, but dinner wouldn’t be at an unreasonable time.

I had a quick lunch of half an avocado and some bacon on toast and read a bit of my book too.  I’m in the midst of The Woman Who Stole My Life by Marian Keyes.  I’m enjoying it as much as I usually enjoy her stuff.

I quickly scanned my cards and then walked them off to the mailbox.  On the way back, I popped into the little vegetable shop near the post office and bought some spinach to go in the stew.

When I got home, F called to say he was on his way home, and I washed the spinach and got it ready to go in the stew.

F came home around 6 and I told him that dinner wouldn’t be ready until 7 ish.  That’s when we’ve been eating lately anyway.  I looked for our can opener and had a really hard time finding it…it had fallen over the back of the drawer and I had to pull out the drawer and fish around with my arm.  I wasn’t best pleased as I was trying to get things done quickly.  F got a case of the vapors and went to lie down in the bedroom.

I took some of the towels that had fallen out of the drawer to put in my laundry basket and asked him how he was.  I checked that he would still eat with me and he said he would.

I opened the coconut milk and added it and the spinach to the stew and then it was just a few minutes until dinnertime.

We had lemon pepper chicken, curried vegetable and chickpea stew, plus salad and it was very nice.  I really enjoyed it and would like to make the recipe again.  I had to substitute a few things, but overall I think the recipe worked really well.

F did the dishes and then during Castle I went and sat on the couch and did some knitting.  My hat is going a bit better this time.  F snoozed on the couch after I went back to my computer, and in fact is still there.  He’s tired and achy, poor thing.

Tomorrow I hope we’ll see a movie and we have to go to the glasses shop to see about getting me a new pair of glasses.  I’m wondering about getting a pair of glasses for all times rather than just when I need to read.  I tend to wear my specs all the time at home anyway.

Come back later and find out what my Saturday was like.  Until tomorrow….
