May 1, 2009 - Friday

Sunny and warm.

An okay day. I got up but as usual these days there was no news, so I turned off the TV for a while and net surfed for a bit. Later on, I watched my Canadian sci-fi show and enjoyed it. I wonder what David Sandstrom would make of the whole "swine flu" thing?

I had a bit of a lazy day around the house. I was still angry from last night and wanted to make sure I wasn't at home when Fumihiko arrived. I went out in the late afternoon to the mall. I biked over, browsed through the "new" grocery store, and then had a cup of Royal Milk Tea at Doutors. I read my magazine for a bit and just chilled out.

After a bit I went upstairs and hacked through the 100 yen shop. I found some fake pansies which I bought, and a couple of clips to attach hats to collars. I'll need those soon. When I went to pay, the cashier miscounted my items and tried to charge me for five when I really had six. I think she was surprised that I corrected her.

I went home after that. Fumihiko was sleeping on the chesterfield and didn't really hear me come in. After he saw I was home he went into the bedroom and went to sleep. Until 10pm. Grr. He gets angry at me for "wasting" his days off by sleeping in, yet him taking an evening nap is okay??

We had a nice and quiet dinner at Grado. We both had ginger pork and grilled chicken. The chicken skin was nice and crispy so we were rather happy with our meal.

We came home and had a quiet evening in. I made us a drink that I invented. I took two teaspoons of cocoa and added a teaspoon of instant coffee, added hot water and a little milk and voila! It was rather nice. It wasn't as sweet as the cocoa is, but the coffee had a nice hint of chocolate. Yum. We also watched part of Lost, but as I don't watch the show regularly I have no idea what's going on.

So that's it. My day. I had thought about going to Niigata overnight but didn't, obviously. Tomorrow night, no updates as I'll be in Sakata at a party. Gotta go! Night.

I enjoy Doutors milk tea too! I crave their sandwiches as well but haven't been there awhile because I prefer places that are non-smoking. I should send Masa in to grab some yummy stuff for me- I use to go there A LOT.

You were thinking about going up to Niigata?!!

If you decide to do this at anytime please send me an email at: {redacted)

Where in Niigata? Tomorrow and the day after I will be in Yuzawa but after that just hanging around. If you go down to the Northern part- like Murakami, seriously email me and I can see if we can go up and have tea together.

I republished the above comment, leaving out the email address. :-)

I love Doutors, but as you say, they allow smoking so it's not the healthiest place. And especially not for you right now.

I had been planning to go to Niigata city because I was mad at my hubby. I'll see if he's interested in taking a road trip during the rest of the week. We've got plans for today and tomorrow... I'll send you an email if we do come down your way. :-)

Thanks for visiting my blog.

If you can rent Lost, I highly recommend watching it from the start. It's not perfect, but it really is good. It's getting better and better after a bit of a sophomore slump.

Orchid64, I'd love to, but we rarely rent anything at all, and we've never rented a TV series. Sigh. We have such a backlog of dvds that we own to watch that I doubt we'll ever get around to it.

Thanks for visiting!

Did you know that cocoa + coffee is a Mocha? I love mocha! :)

Yes, Of course I knew that, but we buy a lot of premixed drinks so this was one that I made by myself!

It was good!
