Wednesday - Rainy, cool and then snowy

I slept in this morning and it was very nice. Today was a national holiday so we both got to spend time together. However, dear F got up early this morning, got himself dressed and drove to work. At work, he discovered that it was in fact a national holiday rather than Thursday like he thought it was! When he told me later, I said that he must have dreamed about our Wednesday!

I went downstairs and found F making some brunch for his mother. I went back to bed for a while!

I roused myself out of bed around 11 and got dressed. F came upstairs after a bit and we discussed where to have lunch. I suggested a place I liked since F said he’d eaten something already and didn’t need to eat a lot. F later suggested something else which was fine and I said so. However, it was closed. So was the next place we looked at. The 2 places after that were busy. We didn’t think that we’d find a place, but F wanted to try a place near the station. It didn’t open for lunch, BUT there was a brand new Italian restaurant nearby and it was open. Woot!  We parked in the old Marica parking building and tried Osteria Lupo.

Osteria Lupo was excellent! We both had pasta for lunch. We could have had the special but it was a tad expensive, so we just ordered pasta. F had a trout and vegetable pasta and I had carbonara with local bacon. We were given a small salad and some focaccia with it. We chose not to have any drinks, so water it was. F’s pasta tasted lovely and mine was excellent. It was so rich and heavy that I half wanted to sleep after lunch.

After lunch, we headed out towards Mikawa. We made a couple of stops along the way. One was a washroom break at an electric shop, then a drug store so F could get some medicine for his headache.

We got to the mall in Mikawa a little early so we divided up. I went upstairs and bought our movie tickets, and F went to look at a glasses store. We met up soon after. We went upstairs and waited for them to open our theatre. I got the popcorn and drinks, and F went to his seat.

We went to see Dune Part Two and I really enjoyed it. F fell asleep at the beginning. He’d taken more headache medicine so it knocked him out a bit. He did watch most of the movie but I don’t know if he liked it though. It was a big spectacle film, but it had good acting and an interesting story. I haven’t read the books so I don’t know how they relate.

After the movie, F went back to the glasses shop and had his eyes tested, I went into Aeon and checked the craft shop for knitting needles. They didn’t have the size I wanted and to get the ones they did have was quite expensive. I didn’t buy them.

I met up with F. He’d ordered some glasses and they’ll come next week.

We decided to buy some groceries at the mall, mostly K’s dinner and maybe something for F’s breakfast if they had it. We got him some onigiri and K something for her lunch tomorrow.

We came back to Tsuruoka and delivered K’s bento to her. I stayed in the car. After that, we went for our dinner. Since I needed to do some grocery shopping we tried going to the area around MaxValu. We ended up going to the Taiwanese restaurant there. I don’t like it too much, but it is okay. They used to allow smoking and the food is too big and uses odd spices in my opinion. We got in and ordered set menus. I had fried chicken, and F had Subuta or vinegared pork. We shared a bit of each other’s meal. They were fine but not great.

We paid and left. We drove over to MaxValu and I did some shopping for the next couple of days. I just decided to take things easy cooking-wise. I came back to the car and we drove back to the house. F was a tad strange at the house. He stormed into the house and sat in the living room while I struggled with the grocery bag and then put the groceries away. He was no help whatsoever.

Then, I went upstairs and brought down the kerosene tank and filled it before going back upstairs with it. I would have appreciated some help.

I watched an episode of Fringe, loved it, and then turned off the TV. I realized that I hadn’t done up the garbage to go out yet. My routine was off, so that’s why. I did the garbage in the room. F didn’t want to put his out, so I did mine and then put some of the stuff from downstairs in my bag. I did the kitchen garbage. I’m afraid that I left it all in the genkan for him to take out in the morning.

He’d gone to bed, so he didn’t put his stuff out. No worries. I watched some YouTube and worked on my blogging. And now, you are up to date with me!

Come back later if you like and hear all about my day. Until tomorrow….

I loved Dune II as well! Books are pretty cool, and it seems that they need part III to finish the main storyline. Frank Herber's son developed the story into the whole galactic saga later- at least additional 8 books, I think! Try to find online the original Dune movie with Kyle MacLachlan from 1984- he played Paul. Sting, the musician, played a psycho Harkonnen nephew! It was a weird movie but many SF movies around that time were weird as special effects were not there yet... :)

I remember in high school a lot of the boys were reading Dune. I love sci-fi, so I'm not sure why I didn't read them, but I never did! I heard on one of my movie podcasts that there are over 20 Dune-related books, so they have many books they can make into movies!

I've seen bits of the David Lynch Dune but haven't seen the whole thing. I could see Sting in that role, he would be interesting.

Thanks for visiting and leaving a comment :-)
