Sunday - So hot, sunny and humid. Urgh.

I slept this morning and it was lovely!  F got up before me and went downstairs. He came in the room once to get something and I asked him to turn on the AC. It was already 28 degrees in our room at 8:30 am. Good grief.

I slept until 10:30 or so and then got up and got half dressed. F came back upstairs just before 11 and started talking about lunch. I wanted breakfast, but that’s okay. F suggested going for yakiniku which surprised me a lot. We went to the restaurant last weekend but it was his idea, so I didn’t mind!  We drove over to Togashi and were able to get a table right away. Yay.

We both had the same set as last week, but this time we added on some gyutan as well. The food was really good and we enjoyed our meal. F paid and then we left. We weren’t sure what to do next. It was so hot today that we didn’t want to be outside and there didn’t seem to be a good place indoors we could go.

F suggested going to Mt. Gassan. He’d wanted to go yesterday but I was afraid of running out of time. We didn’t have any reason not to go today though. I told him I’d be fine if we could use a washroom and get a drink for the car first. We made a pit stop at a drugstore and then went off to Mt. Gassan.

The road wasn’t too busy today and we made pretty good time going up the mountain. However, we did run into a slight problem. Mist! Visibility was not good, so we had to be very careful. We finally made it to the parking area and spent a couple of minutes walking around. There was no view!  The mist, or clouds were really low today and they weren’t moving. We got back in the car and began driving down the mountain again and then the rain started! After we got out of the mist the rain stopped. Whew.

See...no view!

We made a brief pitstop after we got down the mountain and then drove back to Tsuruoka proper. I suggested going for kakigori, but F said he was really tired and wanted a nap. I was a bit sad, but it was fine really. I asked him if we should get his mother a bento for her dinner before we went to the house. We went to a grocery store and picked one up for her. I bought a few crackers too. After that, we came back to the house. I dealt with the food mostly and then went upstairs.

It was 34.8℃ or so in the room. Yikes. I had even left a door open so the air could circulate. I closed the door, turned on the AC and changed my clothes to shorts and a T-shirt. I went downstairs where it was probably a whole 2 degrees cooler!

I went upstairs a little later and F was lying on the bed. It was still incredibly hot but had begun to cool down somewhat. I spent a bit of time at my computer and then around 5 or so I went over to the bed to take my nap!

Somewhere around 6:30, we began to wake up and talk about going for dinner. F suggested doing either Cocos or Gusto, so I suggested Cocos. There is a big grocery store just across the road from the restaurant.

We were able to get a table at Cocos about 5 minutes after we arrived. We looked at the menu and ordered. F had cut steak, which is a bit odd for him. That’s twice in one day he willingly had meat. I had bacon and spinach soy sauce pasta. I got it made with extra pasta as I was hungry. It was still cheaper than F’s meal! We each had drink bar and since my points had been reset on my app, we were given free mini-fries.  Yay. My pasta was great, but F didn’t really like his steak that much. In the end, I was still a bit peckish, so I ordered a tiramisu kakigori.  It was big. F and I shared it, although I probably ate more of it than he did. It was nice and I didn’t even mind the rum-raisins in it. After a while, F decided that he’d pull the whipped cream topping down so it wouldn’t fall. Of course, it toppled over and we lost half of it on the table. He was so upset it was almost funny. I don’t think it was real whipped cream, so I didn’t mind too much.

Tiramisu Kakigori with rum-raisins. The syrups were coffee and condensed milk.

After dinner, we paid and left. We went over to the Pal shopping area and I went into the grocery store. F came in with me to use the washroom. I pointed out to him that the washroom was in the other direction, so I expected he’d go in the closer door. He followed me in. I went in the far door. I honestly don’t know what was going on in his mind these days.

I went around and did my shopping. I’m going to serve the sausage from Friday again so I didn’t buy too much today. I did get more buns and stuff for K’s breakfast for two days and F’s for one day. He’s taking Tuesday off work as he has an appointment.

We came back to the house and again I put the groceries away. I came upstairs where F was basically in bed already!  I decided that I was going to watch something either off the DVR or the Fire Disk. I ended up watching another episode of The Boys. It is such a weird show. I love it, but I sort of hate it too. It does roast a certain portion of the population of the US…and probably elsewhere!

And, that’s about it. It was quite an odd day and such a hot one. I’m going to have to keep an eye on K and make sure that she uses the AC. She spends such a lot of time in bed though and thinks she doesn’t need it. I don’t know how she can sleep in the heat.

Come back later if you like and hear all about my day. Until tomorrow….
