Saturday - Hot and Sunny and humid
I slept in quite late this morning. F turned on the AC in the morning so I was quite comfortable in bed. He was downstairs giving K breakfast and then he took her to her Day Service thing.
I dragged myself out of bed around 11 and got half dressed. I spent a little time on my computer and then F came in the room and asked if I’d like to go for lunch. We tossed a few ideas around and F actually called places today. Woot! The first place he called was too busy today so we couldn’t go there. He had an idea for another place and he called and they were fine with us coming. Now, F does this weird thing where he always underestimates how long it is going to take us to get somewhere. I don’t know why he does that. I’d tack on at least an extra 10 minutes, but he doesn’t.
We drove over to Simon and F was a bit upset that we were past the ten minutes that he told them we’d be. I was getting dressed when he called…why would he think we would be there so soon? Anyway, we had a lovely meal. We both had fish, which came with a butter sauce rather than a tomato curry one. I had a bun with mine, and F had rice. I think the bun was a better choice! After our meal, we did a little driving around. F wanted to go up to Mt. Gassan but I was worried that we wouldn’t have enough time with the roads and might not be back in time for K.
We drove around a bit and went south as far as Kamo. F told me about some of the flooding he’d seen while he was working last week. It sounded bad. On the way back to Tsuruoka we stopped at Musashi to buy screen material. Quite a few of our window screens need either repairing or replacing. It’s hard to open the window when a million bugs can come in.
We came back to the house and I relaxed in the hot room upstairs. It was almost 32 degrees when I came in. F did not fix any of the screens today. I understand. It was a super hot day and the afternoon was just too sunny and hot to do anything physical really.
F came upstairs after a while and then around 6 decided he’d get something for his mother’s dinner. He went off and got food and then cooked dinner for her.
It was our turn next. Both of us have had an upset stomach today, so I suggested an udon restaurant. We got there and they were turning off the lights. Long story short, we ended up going to China House again. I had a yurinchi chicken set meal, and F had yakiniku on rice. We swapped a little bit of our meals and that was nice. I did have a hard time getting F to leave the restaurant. It was a bit perturbing.
We drove to Mikawa and had a hard time parking. There wasn’t a “perfect” spot today so F wanted to drive around until he found one!
We went into the mall and bought our tickets to see Twisters. We also got in line to get popcorn and drinks. Today F tried one of their fancy sodas but he hated it. It was really sweet and made him extra thirsty. So, how was the movie? I enjoyed it a lot! It wasn’t the best movie ever, but it was fun and didn’t take itself too seriously. It’s been years since I saw Twister and to be honest, I’ve never liked Helen Hunt, so didn’t need this one to be like the first one. Twisters was just a little north of silly but was quite worth seeing.
After the movie, we bought drinks at a vending machine and then went to the car. We drove back to Tsuruoka and to the house. At the house, F went to bed right away, and I stayed up and wrote this.
I really don’t know what we’ll get up to tomorrow. I will have to do some grocery shopping, but F is off on Tuesday, so I’m not planning a dinner for that night! I also have a lovely big sausage in the fridge that we have to finish, so I plan to use some of that on Monday!
Come back later if you like and hear all about my day. Until tomorrow….
