Tuesday - Warm and Sunny

A good day with too many phonecalls.

I got up early this morning, watched my show and even had breakfast early.  I read a few blogs, did a few things on my computer and then decided to do my workout.  I did a two mile walk again today.  I was really into it and was just at the cool-down when my phone rang.  F wanted to know if I needed a bento for lunch.  I didn’t and I wasn’t best pleased to be interrupted!  I actually decided not to pick up the call, but for some reason my phone is connected to my computer and my computer stopped playing the video.  Argh.

After my workout, I set up the crochet squares on the bed and tried a couple of versions.  I think it’ll work out well.  Since F paid for the yarn and it is for his nephew, I left the squares for him to check out.  He liked them too.

In the afternoon I watched a bit of TV, did some computer stuff and then decided to vacuum the apartment.  I did a good job of that and then washed the dishes so I could leave the kitchen clean and tidy for F.

He came home after calling me twice in 10 minutes (argh) and immediately started making dinner.  He’d brought home a few things for it too from the store.  Sigh.

We ate and, well, I didn’t like it too much.  We had boiled motsu(bland), edamame tofu(bland), salad (good) and steak fries and wieners (soggy fries, good wieners).  I gave F back some of the fries and some of the motsu.  I just couldn’t eat it.  It was tasteless.  After dinner, I did the dishes and cleaned up the kitchen.  F didn’t make too much of a mess in the kitchen for which I am very grateful.  F did apologize later for the motsu, it really wasn’t great.  I quite like motsu stewed and thought that was what he was going to make, but he didn’t have time.

The rest of the night was quite quiet.  At 10 pm I watched Criminal Minds and started joining my blanket’s squares.  They all get joined in one big continuous go, so it is a little bit scary and cool to see the blanket come together.  I have three joined so far and I really hope that I get faster.  If I’m still joining squares when the real summer gets here I’ll be in trouble!
I wrote up 4 postcards tonight too.  I don’t have stamps so I’ll have to run to the post office tomorrow while they are open, rather than show up afterwards.

And that’s about that.  Oh, I’m posting the two possible layouts for my blanket.  Either way looks okay, but I’ve already chosen which one I’m going to make!  Later you’ll be able to see which one I chose.

Option "A"
Petrol squares on the inside, Aster in the corners

Option "B"
Petrol squares in the corners, Aster in the middle.  Silver is the joining yarn.

Come back in a while and see how my next day goes.  Until tomorrow….

I like the two options you came up with for the blanket. (I'm curious to see if you and F picked the option I would have gone with.)

And good on you for sticking with your walking workout! I'm sure you'll be glad to have an indoor exercise to do when it's hot, humid, and rainy out this summer.

I am having such a problem finding an exercise I want to do consistently, except for pilates which is pretty darn expensive (so I go because I don't want to lose the money I've paid for classes).

I'll post the blanket when it is done...you may even see pictures of it along the way!

I'm sort of surprising myself with the indoor walking. I would go out but I hate wearing sunscreen but I have to wear it in summer. I burn in no time, but I also have problems finding sunscreen that I'm not allergic to.

I would love to do pilates, I've done it before with videos but space where I can lie down and see the TV....well, I'd have to do some serious re-arranging of my apartment! I like the fact that you get results so quickly. I'd also like my DH to try it with a good teacher to help him modify the moves for his back, but doubt that will ever happen!

Thanks for commenting today :-)

I like option B better as there appears to be more contrast. Just my humble opinion. I also think either way, the blanket is looking good and will be greatly appreciated. Can't wait to see the finished product.

Thank you!

I'm looking forward to seeing it come together myself. I have to hurry up and get it done, the baby it is for is already born.

I hear you about the sunscreen. It seems like I hit my 40s and became ridiculously sensitive to lots of perfumes and chemicals in makeup, moisturizers, lotions, and so on. I put something on my face and then I get all puffy and turn bright red, so it's your classic allergic reaction. I haven't worn sunscreen in years because of it.

But I recently ordered a sunscreen from Australia called Blue Lizard Sensitive SPF 30+. It's a physical block, fragrance- and paraben-free. It does have dimethicone, which some people are sensitive to and which makes me break out if I use it too often. I haven't had a reaction to it so far (knock wood!).

I've always had sensitivity to chemicals...I have fairly sensitive skin. But, the sun in Japan is so strong and my DH so clueless about things like that.

I use Clinique which usually isn't bad but it is expensive and I have to get it in a big city. ( I rarely use mail order.)

I'll try and keep your suggestion in mind though. I would like to order a few things, maybe I can do it all at once. I'm not sure about dimethicone, I'm not sure if I've run across that before. Thanks for the idea.
