Saturday - Cloudy and finally rainy

I woke up this morning to an empty room. I went downstairs and saw F coming back in the house. I went back upstairs after a few minutes and to be honest, went back to bed! I snoozed a very little, but it was nice and relaxing.

I got up and dressed myself. A little later F came upstairs and we talked about lunch. He had wanted to go to Fudo, a soba restaurant. It is a good place, but recently it hasn’t been open very much. We drove over and it was closed today too.

I suggested we try Gusto, but the parking lot was full. We started just driving and F was getting a bit tetchy as he does, when we decided to go to another local family restaurant. We were able to get a table and ordered there. We both had kara-age today. F had the whole teishoku and I just had the “tampin” version. I didn’t need rice or miso soup. We finished around 1:30 and made a mad dash to the house so I could brush my teeth and F could change his T-shirt! We left the house a couple of minutes late in my opinion, but did get to my dentist just before my appointment time. 

I got in right away and today had the permanent crown put on. I did have to get an injection but it was fine. I did have a frozen mouth for much of the afternoon though. When I left the office they told me I have to come back. Darn it! We made an appointment for the end of the month. They also told me not to eat or drink for an hour.

We went off to the car. F was going to go to the house, but I asked him if we could go to the big hardware store. We did and did a bit of shopping there. We picked up some masks, some tissues for K, my dishwashing liquid and F got some morning glories. After the hardware store, we went over to the electric shop to use the washroom. I also bought myself a new USB cord to charge my phone. The last one I bought doesn’t work. Sigh.

We came back to the house then and F stayed downstairs and waited for his mother to return. I came upstairs and watched some YouTube and just relaxed for a bit. My mouth was a bit sore and my lips were frozen for quite a while.

After 6:30 or so, F made dinner for his mother and then we talked about going out. F suggested a gyudon shop, but I couldn’t bear that tonight. I suggested Gusto. I know F doesn’t like it much, but I didn’t want rice and I did want some fries!

We had an okay meal there. I had pasta with a lot of vegetables and F had the mixed grill. We shared some fries and also had the drink bar. 

After dinner, we came back to the house. I had some time alone upstairs so decided that I’d watch something off the Fire Disk. I watched an episode of Gotham and then the last episode of Lockerbie. It was really good and a bit sad. 

Since midnight I’ve been watching some YouTube while I’ve been getting ready to blog. I’m going to go to bed soon.

Tomorrow, F and I might go to an early movie if I can get up. After that, we have errands to run as well. Wish us luck!

Today was a little sad because my sister and her husband left Japan. Her husband texted us to say thanks for the advice that we gave them about driving and to say goodbye. My sister did not. I did text her last night, but maybe it was too late and she forgot about it?

Friday - Warm and sunny

I think F did wake me up this morning but it wasn’t a big deal. I said hello to him as he was leaving and then went back to sleep. I did wake up about half an hour before my alarm. I went downstairs and then came back up to the room. I started my waterpot, sorted out my clothes for the day and then went back to sleep. I did watch a few videos first and today found a couple that were quite interesting! One got quite political in a round about way!

I got up later and dressed, then went downstairs and made my breakfast. I brought it upstairs to the room and ate. After I finished eating, I worked on my column. I actually rewrote a bunch of it as it wasn’t working for me. I got it close to being finished and then decided I had to put in a load of laundry and did that. 

At lunch time, I went downstairs and put my lunch together. I came back upstairs and ate lunch and watched an episode of Major Crimes. After I finished eating, I watched the news and finished my column. I sent it into the editor. Done for now. Woot!

F called a bit after 5 and I went downstairs around 5:30 to get a start on dinner. I washed my dishes first and then started to cook. Tonight I was doing my usual Friday night pasta, but I added a few extras tonight. I made cucumber pickle again, plus a zucchini-mushroom sauté thing. That took a bit of time to make but did taste very nice. 

I got dinner on the table a few minutes after 7pm and we all seemed to enjoy it. We had some salad and smoked duck breast with the pasta too and it was very nice. I used a lemon and olive oil sauce from the store and it was very nice. It was quite light. 

After dinner I did the dishes and listened to my podcasts. After the Canadian news, I listened to half of Kermode and Mayo’s movie podcast. I really enjoy them.

I went upstairs and relaxed for a while. I watched a bit of YouTube and then watched Rebus on TV. Some of it was a bit hard to understand due to the broad Scots. I used to have a Scottish accent so it makes me a bit sad, but oh well. 

Something that also is making me a bit sad is that my sister and her husband are going back to Canada tomorrow. I haven’t seen them in over a week, but it was special having them in the same country as me. I was following my sister’s photos on line. They went to a lot of places that I haven’t been to at all. I hope that someday F and I can do more travelling in Japan but we aren’t able to leave K for very long so it won’t be possible for a while. 

I took a shower after Rebus and then came back upstairs and got stuck into my usual internet things. I’m just about finished though!

Tomorrow K is off to her Day Service and I have a dentist appointment in the afternoon. Hopefully I’ll be getting my permanent crown and then I’ll be done for a while. Fingers crossed. I don’t think we’ll be able to see a movie tomorrow because of timing, but I’m hoping we might go on Sunday.

 Thursday - Sunny and warm

I woke up early again. I didn’t hear F leave, he’d gone early to go to an onsen. I went downstairs, returned to my bed and watched a few videos before falling asleep again. 

I woke up rather late this morning, but got up and went downstairs to make my breakfast. I brought it upstairs to eat and watch some YouTube. 

During the afternoon I worked on my column again. I ended up reworking a whole big part of it, but I think it’ll be better this way. I’m going to try and send it in tomorrow so I have to get it done!

I made my lunch a bit early for a change. I brought it upstairs to eat and today watched an episode of Magpie Murders. I love Lesley Manville. She’s such a talented actress. It’s a murder mystery within a murder mystery and it is working rather well. 

I watched the news at 4 pm and then went downstairs to start dinner around 5:30. F phoned to say he was coming back around 5:45 or so. He didn’t have much time once he arrived. He had to do a quick change and then his taxi was booked for 6:15 and it came on time. We had time for a quick hug before he left for his work party.

I got stuck into dinner prep and had dinner on the table around 7 pm. Tonight K and I had premade hamburgers from the store plus French Fries, salad, cucumber pickle and potato salad. Most of the food disappeared, so that was good. K seemed to enjoy herself at dinner and that was good.

I went to the kitchen when we finished and did the dishes. It didn’t take as long as usual, but I still was able to listen to a couple of podcasts. The news from Canada was sad. There are forest fires again and towns are being evacuated. Sigh. 

I said good night to K and I went upstairs. I spent time on my computer and I got a text from F saying that he was just waiting for a taxi to come back to the house. 

F came back around 10pm and made himself some ramen! Same old thing. I relaxed for a while and then at 11pm I watched Yellowstone. It was a good episode tonight, as they usually are. 

Since midnight, F has been sleeping and I’ve been on my computer as usual. 

Tomorrow I’ll be making dinner again and hopefully doing some laundry. I also have to finish and send in my column. Wish me luck with everything!

Wednesday - Sunny and warm 

I woke up with my alarm this morning. I didn’t hear F leave this morning. I went downstairs and then did my watching videos and snoozing more. I dragged myself out of bed a couple of hours later and got dressed. I went downstairs and made my breakfast and brought it upstairs to eat. 

I had a fairly quiet morning and afternoon. I did work on my column and I think I have finished it. I just have to work my final paragraph or so and do check of spelling and grammar. 

I went downstairs around 3 to make my lunch. I also marinated the meat for dinner while I was at it. I came back upstairs afterwards and watched an episode of The Good Fight. It’s one of the ones with Michael Sheen in it and he’s hilarious. And evil! 

F texted me to say he was at the Sakata Port and took some photos of a big cruise ship that was berthed there. He had to be there for work, he drove someone there. 

I went downstairs around 6 pm to start working on dinner. Tonight I made coro-coro steak, onion boil, and served that with some rice, salad, potato salad and a cucumber pickle. I thought it was pretty good if I’m honest.

I did the dishes after dinner and then put the burnable garbage from the kitchen out. I went upstairs and sorted out the garbage upstairs too. I also changed my clothes and then F and I went out. 

We went to the drugstore up the road to try and get some cereal for me. They didn’t have one I liked, but we did pick up a few snacks and some adult beverage for F. We decided to go to the little local grocery store to see if they had my cereal. They actually didn’t, but they had one similar to it, so I got that one instead. F got MORE adult beverage and then we left the store. 

We came back to the house and put away our shopping. I came upstairs and relaxed for a bit and then went downstairs and took a shower. 

After that, I came back upstairs and watched The Irrational. It was quite a good one. I almost guessed the whodunnit. 

And that’s about it for my day. Since midnight I’ve been relaxing with some YouTube and doing my blogging. It was a decent day.

Tuesday - Warm and sunny

I woke up early this morning. I think I woke up when I heard F this morning. I fell back asleep, but did wake up before my alarm this morning. I went downstairs and then came upstairs and went back to bed. I watched some videos again and then I went back to sleep until I dragged myself out of bed a few hours later.

I went downstairs to get my breakfast and then came upstairs to eat it. I watched some Youtube and had a nice morning and early afternoon. Later on I did a load of laundry. I realized that I had completely forgotten about it again. Sigh. Since F had forgotten his breakfast sandwich again, I thoughtfully ate it for him!

I made lunch a bit later and brought it upstairs to eat. My laundry was done at the same time too, so I brought it up as well. I hung up the laundry and watched an episode of So Help Me Todd too. I enjoyed it. 

I watched the news at 4pm and worked on my column a tiny amount. I know how I want it to go, but I need some back up info. I do actually research some of the stuff I write!

F called around 5:30 and a little later I went downstairs and got started on dinner. Tonight I went a little simple. I did toaster oven chicken, with a salad and some steamed veggies on the side. I made a spicy cucumber salad too with some cucumber, spicy mayo and tuna. It turned out rather nicely.

Dinner was fine. F wasn’t feeling so great today so he didn’t eat much. K and I ate our usual amounts I think. After dinner, I cleared the table and then washed the dishes. 

F and I went to the grocery store and I went in. I bought some food for the next three days. I got most of the stuff that I need, at least I think so! I asked F to take me to the drugstore nearby and he did. I went in and did a little shopping. I got some pasta and a couple of pasta sauces, but I couldn’t find the things I really wanted, dishwashing liquid and my bran cereal. They did of course have dishwashing liquid, they just didn’t have the one for sensitive skin that I buy. Darn. 

F and I came back to the house. I put away the groceries and then went upstairs. I was back just in time to watch Lockerbie so I did. It’s funny, I remember the convicted terrorist being allowed to go back to Libya and I thought how terrible it was. However, the series is showing that he was not the guilty party and was innocent of the bombing. It’s quite well done. 

After Lockerbie I watched FBI: International. They are really jumping the shark with this show. It was a fairly decent police procedural with exotic European locales, but now they have a couple of cowboys running around Europe and disregarding other countries' rules. I hope that it smartens up, but I worry that this is the new way it works.

Before midnight I turned off the TV and then started working on my computer. I worked on my blog and also watched a few YouTube videos. 

Tomorrow I need to work on my column again and hopefully get a lot of it done. I’d really like to get it sent in by Friday. Fingers crossed it’ll be okay.

Monday - Cloudy and cool

I woke up normally this morning, thank goodness! F had already left for work  when my alarm went off. I went downstairs and then came back to bed. I watched a few videos on my phone before snoozing again. I did oversleep a bit, but I wasn’t too upset about it. 

I finally dragged myself out of bed and dressed. I went downstairs and put my breakfast together and brought it upstairs. I ate and watched a few YouTube videos. I got a bit behind last week and now I’m trying to catch up!

In the afternoon I remembered that I should do some laundry, so I sorted what was in my basket and took a load downstairs. I also took down fresh towels for the kitchen and bathroom and a bottle to bring up some water for my waterpot. A while later I went downstairs to make my lunch and then I brought up my clean laundry to hang upstairs. 

During my lunch time I watched last week’s episode of FBI: International. It ended with a cliff hanger. I deleted the episode from my DVR and accidentally deleted Saturday’s episode of Lockerbie. Darn! Luckily it’ll repeat tomorrow night so I have already set the DVR to re-record it!

F called me around 5:30 to say he was on his way back so I went downstairs a bit before 6 to start dinner. Tonight I did a stir-fry with a couple of bags of prepared veggies. I added in a few more and some meat too. I also made some cucumber pickle tonight from scratch and the salad was a local baby leaf mix.

I was a little late getting dinner on the table, but it was finally done. I called F down and started serving K some dinner. Dinner was quite good. I liked the stir-fry. I’m not sure if everyone else did or not, but all the cucumber disappeared.

I got to do the dishes afterwards and put everything away. I listened to the news from Canada and then my movie review show from last week. I enjoyed that. 

I said goodnight to K and then went upstairs. I watched a few videos and then I went downstairs to take a shower. K was still up and popped her head into the bathroom to say goodnight again! Luckily I was just brushing my teeth and I hadn’t disrobed yet!

After my shower, I made myself some popcorn and then went upstairs. I watched an episode of The Great British Sewing Bee and enjoyed that. 

And that’s about it for my day. I didn’t work on my column unfortunately, but I’ve decided to scale something down in order to get my column finished. Hopefully I’ll be able to work on something another time.

Sunday - Cold and rainy

I had a very odd wake up this morning. I felt something hit my arm. I opened my eyes and received another hit. F was writhing in bed and moaning, then, he started moving towards me and pulling up his bed cover. I asked him, “What are you doing?” and he woke up, very surprised! He said that he was dreaming that there was a wild animal in our room and that it was going to attack me so he was trying to catch it! We both made trips downstairs and then went back to bed and sleep. When I woke up a few hours later, F was downstairs. 

I got up and dressed. I relaxed for a while. We had talked about going to the parade today and although I didn’t want to go, I put on sunscreen just in case we did. F came upstairs and talked about lunch. Today I suggested going to the Daiichi Hotel for their lunch special. It was pork roast with mashed potato. F said it sounded good, so off we went.

We were able to get into the restaurant right away and they still had the lunch special available. Yay. We ordered and in a few minutes had our salads to start. Our lunch was good. It was a tiny bit small, but honestly, it was very nice. 

We left the mall and it was pouring outside. On our way back to the car, our umbrellas both blew inside out. Oh dear. F fixed them and we got in the car. He started driving, but to be honest, I have no idea what he was thinking. He was driving towards all the blocked off streets, not away from them. He said he didn’t want to stand in the rain to watch the parade, which I didn’t want to do either! Since we couldn’t think of anything to do, we just came back to the house. Boo.

F stayed downstairs and used his computer, I stayed upstairs and used mine. It was lonely and honestly, a waste of a weekend. F made himself a snack around 4 pm and then made his mother some dinner at 6 something. He asked me about dinner and I suggested a gyudon restaurant. He liked that idea.

After 7:30 we went out to the restaurant. I was happy to see I didn’t need to order a donburi. I got an order of bulgogi with a small bowl of rice, salad and miso soup. F had a gyudon with a half cooked egg but he didn’t really like his. I liked mine, but thought it was a little small. 

After dinner, we went over to PAL and I did the grocery shopping. I got most of the stuff that I needed for lunches and dinners for the next couple of days. 

We came back to the house and I put away the groceries. I came upstairs and watched a couple of videos on YouTube and then decided I’d watch some stuff off the Fire Disk. I watched an episode of Severance and then one of Gotham. Both shows had weird things happen on them. I love both shows!

And that’s about it for me for tonight. It was an okay day, but I really didn’t want to spend much time in the house as I am going to be here all next week. F seemed sad that I didn’t want to spend all day here, but he didn’t give me any options today!
