Monday - Sunny but cool

Last night, F said that if it was still snowy in the morning he would take the day off work. He had already changed the tires so didn’t want to drive on snow with the summer tires. 

He took the day off. I got up around 8:30 and I didn’t see any snow on the road, but F stayed in. 

I grabbed my breakfast around 11 or so and ate it upstairs. It was nice to have it again. F had asked about going out for lunch, but at first I wasn’t ready. I asked F if he’d like to go to a movie with me and he said he would. The movie started at 1:30. We went out for a quick lunch. F had suggested a sushi place and I was okay with that. We went to Kappa Sushi and got a table right away.

We ordered quite a few plates of sushi. I didn’t want anything deep fried, but F ordered quite a few things that were deep fried. I didn’t eat them. 

We did leave on time, but there was a big line at the cash register and then we couldn’t get out onto the road for a bit. We could only go the wrong way. F turned around and we started on the right way, only to get caught up by road construction. Finally I said to F that we weren’t going to make it so we shouldn’t bother. We went back to the house. 

I wasn’t too upset as I heard that the movie wasn’t that good, but it would have been fun to do something this afternoon. I spent some time on my computer and then I went back to bed for a nap!

I got up around 5 and watched the news from earlier in the day. When the news was over I went downstairs and started cooking dinner. K had been out during the day, she went to her daughter’s house so she didn’t need dinner. 

Tonight I cooked chicken, and mushrooms and we had some salad and potato salad with it. It was nice. F had made rice last night, so we had some of that too. F got K up to eat, but she didn’t want to eat so went back to bed! 

I did the dishes after dinner and then went upstairs and relaxed. F came up a while later. After 10 I went downstairs to take a shower. When I finished and went back upstairs, I decided to watch an episode of Gotham. I haven’t watched one for a bit. 

And, that’s about it. F took a shower tonight after I did. He’ll be going to work tomorrow as there wasn’t any snow tonight. If there’s any overnight who knows!

Sunday - Cold, cloudy and finally Snowy

I woke up a little early for a Sunday. F was downstairs and I went downstairs for a few minutes and then came upstairs. I got dressed and spent a bit of time on my computer. 

F came upstairs and asked if I wanted to go for lunch. I suggested going for Indian food and he was okay with that. We got ready and went to Khatry Kitchen. We got a table and both had the same thing, the keema curry in spinach sauce with naan and masala chai to drink. It was very nice, except at first, they didn’t bring a naan for F! He had to ask for it. 

After lunch we went to the nearby drugstore. F needed some stomach medicine and I needed some dishwashing liquid. They sell the one for sensitive skin.  After that, I asked that we go back to the house to sleep!  We made a quick stop at a bakery for some croissants and a pastry, then came back to the house.

I changed back into my pyjamas and went to bed. At first, I set an alarm for 35 minutes and read for a few minutes. F came to bed too, so I turned off my alarm and then I basically slept for the next 3 and a half hours! F got up and went back downstairs, but I slept on. I dragged myself out of bed around 6 pm. Yikes. I’m not sure why I slept so long or was so tired today. 

A little later, F came into the room and asked if I wanted to go for dinner. Of course, the answer was yes. I suggested the small Chinese style restaurant on the other side of the park and he said it was okay. We drove over to To-en and it was still open. Yay for that.

We went in and looked at the menu. F and I shared some fried chicken and some stir-fried vegetables. He ordered some yakisoba with mixed vegetables for himself. I didn’t have any today, I really wasn’t in the mood for it.

After that, we went to the grocery store and I went in and bought groceries. Nothing too exciting. I bought some chicken for tomorrow and some pork for Tuesday. 

We came back to the house and I put away the groceries and went upstairs. I got back into my pyjamas and went to my computer to spend some time! I watched a bit of YouTube and then decided to watch last night’s episode of The Day of the Jackal. It was quite good. I enjoyed it. I’m finding this series to be as good as advertised! I’m not a huge Eddie Redmayne fan, but he is very good in this and I love the fact that it is a woman chasing him. 

And, that’s about it for me. l’m not sure what I’ll get up to tomorrow. F says that there is a lot of snow outside so he might not go to work tomorrow. I’m hoping/planning to go to a movie tomorrow at Machinaka Kinema if I can get myself sorted early enough.

 Saturday - Sunny in the morning, cloudy later on. 

Today was an odd day. It wasn’t a bad day, but it will probably turn out to be a very expensive day.

Last evening, F said that he wanted to go to the eel restaurant again because the internet said it was only closed for lunch on Wednesdays and Sundays. I told him that we’ve tried to go on Saturday before and they were always closed. I said I would go if he wanted to try it.

Well, this morning I got up and got dressed in time to leave when F wanted to go. We went out to the car and drove off. We were a tad early, so we parked in the spaces and waited. And waited. And waited. After 11:40 F agreed that it wasn’t going to open. We talked about where else to go. We tried to go to Arpeggio but they were full. Next up, F suggested another place that we’ve eaten at once. I liked it, but F thought it was expensive. We went there.

Today, we got to the parking area and while F was manoeuvring the car, he hit a big rock in the yard. It scratched up the car and knocked the fender a bit off. F was upset, but still wanted to go in the restaurant. Some of menu items are expensive, but they sounded very nice. I found some cheaper lunches in the back. I ordered a wasabi mayo roast beef bagel sandwich and salad, F ordered a BLT on a croissant with a salad too. We both had drinks and our lunch was nice, if a little small. 

After lunch, we went to the post office to mail a parcel to my bestie in Canada. It was quick and easy. 

After that, we went to F’s car dealership to see about getting the car fixed and making it drivable. Well, it’s going to cost a pretty penny to get it fixed, but he can drive it for now. Sigh.

We went back to the house via a grocery store for bentos and a few other things. At the house I went upstairs and watched some YouTube. 

We had dinner around 7:00pm. We all had bentos that were okay. I’m not a big fan of bentos but I didn’t want to cook tonight. While I was gathering things off the table, I asked F if we should cancel our plans to go out tonight, but he said he’d still like to go. Wow!  The movie started at 8:25 and it was now close to 8 pm.  I had done the dishes by this point so I went upstairs to get my jacket and purse. Then, F and I left the house and drove out to Mikawa.

We were lucky enough to get a great parking spot, close to the door of the mall. We went in the mall and went up to the theatre. We bought our tickets and then some popcorn and drinks. We went to see Better Man, the biopic of Robbie Williams. I’ve been a fan of his for years, so I really enjoyed the music. F knew some of the songs from me doing them at karaoke. I really liked the movie…the gimmick of Robbie being played by a CGI Chimpanzee was interesting, but it worked in the context of the movie. 

F and I were the only two people in the theatre and this was Saturday night. I’m pretty sure that it won’t stick around, which is sad as it was a good film. 

After the movie, we drove back to Tsuruoka and the house. We had a quiet evening in. We arrived around 11:30 or so. F stayed up for a while, but he’s finally gone to bed and I want to go soon too. 

I have no idea what we’ll get up to tomorrow. I hope that we can get our weekly groceries and maybe have a nice time together. Fingers crossed.

Well, that was my day. It was pretty good, but I am sorry about the car.

Friday - Rainy and cloudy, cooler

I woke up this morning when F got up and got ready for work. He seemed to be particularly noisy today.

I fell asleep again and woke up with my alarm. I made a trip downstairs and then came back to bed. I snoozed a bit longer. I finally dragged myself out of bed and dressed.

I had my breakfast and watched the news today. Then, I had a quiet afternoon. F had done laundry yesterday and hadn’t bothered to take his clothes out of the washing machine. That meant I couldn’t do my clothes today. I was annoyed, but whatever. 

I made my lunch and brought it upstairs to eat. Today I watched an episode of So Help Me Todd. It was rather cute. I needed a light show after all of the serious horror of The Walking Dead. 

F phoned after 5 to say he was on the way back to the house. I went downstairs a few minutes later to start dinner. 

I had planned to do regular pasta tonight, but I noticed that I had a packet of gnocchi that was going to expire next week, so decided to do that instead. Dinner was interesting and was quite appreciated. We had the gnocchi with tuna mayo sauce, sliced duck breast, and salad. I also finally served my mincemeat tarts that I bought in December for dessert with a little ice cream. That was very nice!

I did the dishes and while I was working on that, listened to my podcasts. I enjoyed the movie one especially. I said goodnight to K and F afterwards and I went upstairs to relax.

I watched a little YouTube before going downstairs to take a shower. When I came back upstairs, I brought some tissues for F and I and also some water for my water pot. 

I watched episode 4 of the second season of Severance and it was rather odd…but in a good way. I thought it had Lynchian vibes!

F was getting on my case about not going to bed early again. I’m getting so tired of it. Apparently he wakes up when I come to bed and can’t fall back asleep again. I think that is more on him than on me though. I’m not noisy, he just isn’t a good sleeper. 

I’m not sure what we’ll get up to tomorrow. I have to mail something at the post office so hopefully that’ll happen. F wants to try his stupid eel restaurant again for lunch…but I told him that I am 89% sure that it will be closed. He just doesn’t remember that some of these places are closed in the morning on weekends. It’s driving me nuts. Yes, I know Google Maps says it is open, but it isn’t. 

I did do a couple of rounds of crochet today and it was nice to destress with that. I may be overdoing it though as my hands are finding it a bit hard to type at the end of the day. Woe is me!

That’s it for me. Tomorrow I’ve no idea what we’ll get up to. I’m hoping that we’ll go to a movie as there are now three movies in English nearby.

 Thursday - Cloudy, rainy with some hail

I woke up after my alarm this morning. That was rather nice. It took a few minutes, but I got up and went downstairs. I did snooze a bit longer but got up and dressed. 

I went downstairs and made my breakfast, then came back to my room and ate. I watched The Walking Dead at noon. It was a humdinger…I’m very close to the end of the show now. I think I have 4 episodes left. 

I did a bit of crochet in the afternoon (and evening too). It’s going well, but I’m going to have to get more yarn soonish, or abandon what I’m doing! 

I'm enjoying the process so far!

I made my lunch around 2:30 and brought it up to the room to eat. My viewing choice today was Bones and it was fine. It had some interesting moments. I watched the news and some YouTube. F phoned after 5:20 to say he was on his way back.  

I went downstairs to start dinner. Tonight I made store bought burgers, roasted new potatoes, potato salad, and salad. Everything was very nice and the roasted new potatoes were very good. Most of them disappeared.

After dinner I did the dishes and then went upstairs. I put on my pyjamas and vegged out with a bit of YouTube. After 10:30 I went downstairs and made some popcorn. I made some for F too but he didn’t like it much and gave it back to me! I liked it. I watched Doc and it was good. I’m quite pleased with this new show so far. Everything seems quite logical.

And that’s about it. I still have my cold, but I’m much better today. I skipped some of my cold medicine today and I was fine without it. I just took a bit before bed as I get a bit stuffed up.

Wednesday - Cloudy and a bit rainy

I woke up before my alarm today, made a trip downstairs and then went back to bed. F had gone downstairs to make breakfast for his mother. I hear it was ramen again. Eye roll.

I slept a bit longer but did drag myself out of bed. F had gone out to do his banking stuff. I dressed and went downstairs. I made my breakfast and brought it upstairs to eat. 

I was watching the news when F came back and asked about lunch. He wanted to leave immediately which did annoy me a tad as I had just made myself a nice cup of tea. I changed into going out clothes and then we left the house.

F had wanted to go to his eel restaurant, but it wasn’t open when we got there. I wanted to tell him that if he’d phoned me from the car when he was on his way back, I could have been ready to go when he arrived. He didn’t and I wasn’t. 

We ended up going to another restaurant nearby and had the same special that we had the last time we went there. It was nice but I wouldn’t say it was fantastic. I hope F doesn’t want to make it a regular place for us. 

After lunch, F suggested going to look at mummies. This area of Japan has a number of mummies, monks that mummified themselves in order to help other people reach nirvana. When my visitors come over in May we thought we might take them to see a mummy. However, the first temple that we went to was closed. It seems that the temple priest is ill so he couldn’t show us the Mummy. 

F decided to look up another one and did. We drove off into Kushibiki and possibly into Asahi. The place with the mummy was up some steep steps so F called to make sure there was someone to let us in to see him…but there was no answer. Oh dear.

We drove back to Tsuruoka and decided to go for coffee to Komeda. We haven’t been there in ages! I had my usual decaf coffee, F had a regular one.

Next in our line up was buying groceries. We went to Pal shopping area and went into the grocery store. I bought a few things for dinner tomorrow and Friday, something for breakfasts for K and F for the next two days. We also bought bentos for tonight’s dinner! 

We came back to the house and relaxed for a little. I went downstairs and started heating up the bentos and setting the table. F got his mother up and we sat in the living room and ate our dinners. It was nice. F and I both had some grilled chicken on rice with a soft boiled egg, and we had bought an omurice for K. I thought it looked good and she never has it. She enjoyed it and said it was delicious, so that was good. 

I did the few dishes afterwards and then did up the garbage as tomorrow is the day for pick up. It didn’t take too long which is nice.

I said goodnight to K and told F I was going to go upstairs. I relaxed a bit, put on some YouTube and then F asked if I’d like to have some yakitori. He’d bought some in the grocery store. I said sure, so he heated it up and brought it upstairs for us. 

When I finished eating I took a shower. I didn’t really want to take one tonight, but I didn’t want to wait much longer for it. 

I came back to the room. F suggested I get to bed early, but I didn’t like that idea. Instead, I watched another episode of Good Omens and enjoyed it. 

That’s about it for my night. I’ve been blogging for a bit and watching a little YouTube.

Tuesday - Sunny and warm. 

I woke up a little bit before my alarm this morning. I went downstairs and then came back to the room. I wasn’t feeling great, so I went back to bed and slept a bit late. I needed it though.

I had a quiet day today. I watched a couple of episodes of The Walking Dead today. I watched on TV on the rebroadcast and then the second one over lunch from the DVR. 

I went downstairs to make dinner a little before 6 pm.  Tonight I did an onion boil again, plus some coro-coro steak done as steak bites in the air fryer. I put out some potato salad and a nice salad too. Dinner was good and I think we all enjoyed it.

Normally on Tuesdays we go to the store to get groceries for the next couple of days, but I wasn’t feeling great after dinner and F is off work tomorrow. He took a personal day to do some banking business. We decided not to go out tonight. 

After I finished in the kitchen I went upstairs, got into my pyjamas and tried to take a nap on the bed. I didn’t actually sleep and I got up around the same time F came up to the room. F saw me in bed and said that he’d take me to the doctor tomorrow. (No thank you…I have a cold, that’s all.)

I went over to my computer and spent some time on YouTube. I decided to watch something on the Fire Disk, so I ended up putting on an episode of Shrinking. It wasn’t that funny, but it was a good episode. Harrison Ford just rocks! I got another round done on my sweater too. I’m getting worried  about running out of yarn soon.

I turned off the TV around midnight and then started my computer stuff. I’ll be going to bed in a few minutes as I’m tired. I took some cold medicine an hour ago and it’s making me sleepy!

Monday - Sunny and warm, then a little cloudy

I was very angry last night and to be honest, the night didn’t go that well. For some reason, F seemed to be elbowing me through the quilt several times at night. He complained later that I was pushing him so I’m not sure who was in the right. I woke up at 7am when F’s alarm went off. He hadn’t switched it off when he left. He’d also left the light on in the room. I don’t know what he was thinking. There was a message of love on my phone from him but I told him I didn’t believe him. I went downstairs and then went back to sleep for a while.

I dragged myself out of bed and got dressed. I went downstairs and made my breakfast and brought it upstairs to eat. I also watched The Walking Dead episode from last week which was being broadcast at noon. 

I realized that I needed to go laundry so I went downstairs later and put a load in to wash. I watched the news that I missed earlier and while I was watching it, F came in. He had a few minutes between driving assignments and came back to the house. I wasn’t too pleased to see him at first, but we talked a little bit. I don’t think we resolved anything, but I’m not angry anymore, well, not much. 

He left to go off to work, I went downstairs to make my lunch. While I was watching Major Crimes, I ate my lunch. I had some leftovers and my usual open face sandwiches. It was nice.

F called me after 5 to say he was on the way back. I went downstairs after a while and got to work. I didn’t mention that F seemed to have a cold yesterday. Well, I woke up with it today too. My nose hasn’t stopped running all day. I have a bit of a cough too which is so much fun. Cooking dinner wasn’t fun because I had to keep blowing my nose.

I made roasted new potatoes, toaster oven chicken, steamed mushrooms and I rinsed a baby leaf salad for us. It was very nice. I did have some odd things happen though. I blew a breaker and after that, the steamed mushrooms…a heat in the bag in the microwave thing did a scream/whistle thing while they were cooking. I had to open up the bag more to stop it from making a noise!

Dinner was great but there were leftovers. I made myself a plate to have for lunch tomorrow. I made K’s plate before dinner so she was well taken care of I assure you!

After dinner I did the dishes and then went upstairs to relax. I watched a little YouTube. When F came upstairs I ended up going downstairs to take my shower. 

I came back to the room and decided to watch Saturday’s episode of The Day of the Jackal. It was quite good. I’m enjoying the series so far. I crocheted about half a round during the show because yesterday I did a lot of crochet and I could barely type at the end of the day when writing my blog.
