Thursday - Hot and sunny. Yeah, it’s boring!

I woke up this morning about an hour before my alarm. F had turned on the AC before he left and it was cold in our room! I went downstairs and then went back to bed. I did watch a few videos and then I fell asleep. I woke up a bit later and had to go downstairs. I dressed and went downstairs. 

I made my breakfast and brought it back up to the room to eat. I had a quiet morning and afternoon. I was just about ready to think about my lunch when I got a call from F. He said that he had some free time and wanted to be cool for a while. He said he was coming back to the house and did I want him to bring something?  He suggested ice cream and I said that ice cream was okay but I’d really love an iced caffe latte from 7-11! 

A bit later, I went downstairs to make my lunch and that was the time that F came back to the house! He was looking very brown as he’d been in the sun a lot today. Brown with a touch of red, poor thing. 

He did come bearing iced lattes! Yay.  I finished making my lunch and then I went upstairs. F gave me my latte and we drank our drinks for a few minutes and then F had to leave again. It was nice to see him and nice to have an iced coffee drink. I ate my lunch which had quite a few leftovers in it and enjoyed the heck out of it. I watched another episode of Major Crimes and then watched the news when it was over. Well, I watch the news for a bit until they start talking about that orange guy and then my eyes glaze over and I start doing other things.

F called after he finished work and said he was on the way back. I went downstairs soon after and started working on dinner. Tonight I made burgers and fries with cucumber pickle, salad and potato salad. Dinner was good I think. Most of the food disappeared. I asked F to ask his mother if she’s okay as she hasn’t been eating the lunches I’ve been leaving for her. She didn’t really say much so F asked if it was the summer thing where people don’t eat and she said it was. That’s okay I guess, but I worry about her. She does eat her breakfast and she eats a good dinner, so it might be okay for now. 

I did the dishes and then F and I went to the grocery store. I picked up a few things for tomorrow. Apparently some prices are going to rise tomorrow so it was a good time to shop. I did buy some yogurt for myself in case I have to eat some during the weekend. I got some decaf instant coffee for me, plus some coffee creamers and bread. 

We came back to the house and I put away the groceries. I headed upstairs afterwards. At 11 pm I watched the finale of Yellowstone. It surprised me by being longer than an hour. I thought it might start early, but it didn’t! It went long instead. It was quite good and it was a decent end to the series. The evil brother got his comeuppance so that was good.

After the show ended, I turned off the TV and got stuck into my internet stuff. Now I’m nearly done. I’m not sure what I’m going to get up to tomorrow. I’ll probably do a bit of laundry and maybe I’ll get around to something else. I do have to write a column this month. Yikes. I’m not sure what I’ll write about this time.

Wednesday - Hot and Sunny, humid

Last night when I went to bed, F woke up. He went downstairs after me. I was trying to go to sleep and I was still mad at him so it made things difficult. He was up and down for a while. He couldn’t sleep. I couldn’t sleep for a while as my foot was sore. I’m not sure why, it was quite painful. I considered getting up and taking an OTC pain pill, but didn’t. I finally dropped off after a while.

I woke up this morning when my phone’s message thing beeped. I’d got a weird video from F. I looked at it, but it was a 44 minute video in Japanese. A couple of minutes later I got an email from him apologizing for sending the video by mistake! I texted him back. I went downstairs and went back to bed. I watched a couple of videos and then I fell asleep. I woke up later when I got another message. This time I got a shock. The message said that it was from my brother. The one that died last summer. It was asking me if we were okay because of the earthquake. I assumed that it was my sister in law who texted, unless ghosts know how to use Messenger! I asked, but never got a reply.

I did a little web surfing and found out about the earthquake in Russia and the projected tsunami. I had no idea. Happily for me, the tsunami was expected on the other side of the country. There was some high water over the course of the day, but nothing like the one in 2011 thankfully.

I got up and dressed, I went downstairs and made my breakfast then brought it up to the room to eat. I had a quiet morning and afternoon. 

I went downstairs to get my lunch and it was so hot outside my room. Oh goodness. When August hits us…what is it going to be like? I made my lunch and brought it upstairs to eat. I decided to watch an episode of Major Crimes just to find out that the season I am watching is going to be taken off Prime in a couple of days. Boo!

I mostly watched the news after that and then a bit of YouTube. F phoned me after 5:15 and he was friendly. I asked him to bring some salad as I had completely forgotten to buy salad last night!

I went down to the kitchen and started getting dinner ready. Today I made a quick stew and it turned out okay. Today I used ground pork and added some potatoes, carrots, onions and mushrooms. We had that with F’s salad and some cucumber pickle and some mini-tomatoes. I think dinner was good.

I did the dishes afterwards and then I had to do the garbage too. It took a while, but K did most of her own garbage today, which was very nice. She has her moments!

I came upstairs when I finished with the garbage. I did up my garbage in the room and left the bag for F to put his stuff in too. I watched some YouTube and a bit later went downstairs to take a shower.

I came back to the room a little late and tuned into Grey’s Anatomy. I tried the starting it from the beginning of my recording, but it stopped after a few minutes. Grr. I watched the rest of the show “live” and then when it finished I watched it from the beginning again on the recording. It worked this time!

I turned off the TV when I was done and then turned off the light in the bedroom. F was sleeping on the bed. He woke up a little later and got himself into bed properly. 

And that is that. It was an okay day for me. It’s just so hot during the day. Tomorrow I’m not sure what I’ll get up to so come back tomorrow and find out! Until tomorrow….

Tuesday - Sunny and hot

I woke up this morning and the room was cool. My alarm went off and I got up and made a trip downstairs. I came back to the room and relaxed in bed again. I watched a couple of videos before having a nap. 

I dragged myself out of bed a lot later and did the first of a couple of loads of laundry. I put together my breakfast and then brought it upstairs to eat. I had a reasonably quiet afternoon, punctuated by a few trips downstairs to grab my laundry.

A little before 3 I went downstairs to make my lunch and then brought it upstairs to eat. Today I watched Saturday’s episode of FBI. It was fine. A newish character was killed off and I won’t miss them at all. 

I watched the news at 4pm for as long as I could and then I played games on my phone. A little after 5 F called to say he was on his way back and he asked if I wanted him to bring something. Nope. That’s okay. 

I went downstairs and got busy getting ready for dinner. I washed the dishes and then I started chopping veggies and prepping some of the other dishes. F came back from work and watered the plants outside and did some other yard work. Then he had a shower.

Tonight I made a pork stir-fry. I used a couple of packs of veggies from the store and added an onion, some mushrooms and cut the meat into smaller pieces. We also had some potato salad and some cucumber pickle with a salad and some rice. I finally got it on the table and F came down to eat. He asked me about the stir-fry and I told him that it was a miso based one. Then he announced that he likes salt based stir-fry. I was rather insulted. I had just spent the last half hour to hour making this stir-fry and I chose one with a miso sauce because I thought he liked it. I told him that he didn’t have to eat it.  He started to tell me how to make the salt based one and I said I didn’t need to hear it. He left the table and flounced off upstairs. 

K and I ate our dinner in near silence as usual. After dinner I cleared the table and washed the dishes. I threw out the food on F’s plate. What a waste. 

When I was done, I went upstairs and changed my clothes. I asked if F was okay to go out and he said he was. We drove to Mina and I went in and did the shopping. Unfortunately, I forgot to buy salads today. Oops. Oh well. I picked up a couple of things for myself on my own dime and then paid for the groceries. 

We came back to the house and I put away the groceries. I got F to pick his breakfast sandwiches and then I went upstairs. I put on my headphones and watched some YouTube. F went to sleep fairly soon. I watched FBI: International and during it I started to get cold. I checked the AC settings after the show and it was set to 21 degrees. Oh good grief! That was cold. I adjusted the temperature setting so it would warm up a little. 

So that’s about it for my day. I’ve been watching YouTube and working on my end of day things. I’m not sure what I’ll get up to tomorrow, so you should come back later and find out.

Monday - Hot and Sunny (It’s so monotonous) 

I woke up this morning slightly before 7 am. I’m not sure if F just left or if I heard a noise downstairs. Then, at 7:00am, F’s alarm went off. F was not in the room. I woke up fully, turned off the alarm and then went downstairs. I came back to the room and went back to sleep for a while.

I got up later, dressed and went downstairs. I grabbed my breakfast and then came back to the room. I ate breakfast. I had a quiet morning and afternoon. I backed up my computer, I got towels ready to take downstairs and caught up with things on YouTube!

I went downstairs to get my lunch a little early today. When I came back upstairs I decided to watch an episode of The Moonflower Murders. It’s one of the British mystery shows with Lesley Manville. The first episode was good, so I’ll keep watching.

F called after 5 pm to say he was coming back from work. A little later, I went downstairs and got started on dinner.  Tonight I did a simple one. We had toaster oven chicken, cucumber pickle, salad, mini-tomatoes for K and F, and a vegetable medley. Dinner was quite good I thought. We also had some dessert. On Saturday we had bought some cream puffs with ice cream in them, so we had one each tonight. It was very nice.

I did the dishes and listened to some of my podcasts. I filled up the plastic garbage bag that F didn’t take out last week and begged him to take it out tomorrow!

I went upstairs to relax for a while. I wrote an email to my bestie and then I went downstairs and took a shower. 

I made myself some popcorn when I was all nice and clean and then came upstairs and watched an episode of Ted Lasso. I thought it was the last one…but it wasn’t! I’d been keeping it for a night when I needed it. Still, I enjoyed it and now I know that it wasn’t the last one, so I have at least one more, probably two episodes left! Yay!

I went a bit past midnight so I turned off the TV when it was done and then got stuck into my evening things. And now, we are all up to date! 

Tomorrow I’ll likely do some laundry. Today, F had left his clothes in the machine all day so it was a bit annoying. Oh well. I’m not sure what else I’ll get up to, so you’ll have to come back and find out! Until tomorrow….

Sunday - Hot and sunny again.

I woke up this morning in a roasting bedroom. I turned on the AC and got back into bed for a while. I went downstairs later. F had been busy downstairs. 

I realized around noon or so that F wasn’t planning to take me out for lunch so I went downstairs and made myself some cereal. I was a bit annoyed actually. We were expecting a visit from K’s Case Worker at 1pm and I needed to eat before that.

I went downstairs and helped prepare a few things for the visit. However, 1pm came and the Case Worker didn’t! I asked F to call her at 1:20 and she said she was on her way. Sure enough she did show up around 1:30. The visit went well, but honestly, F irritates me at times. They are suggesting we put K in Short Term Care again so F asked if I had any ideas for when. I told him bluntly and honestly that I had no idea as he refuses to make any plans. 

After the woman left, I asked F if we could go and get me something to eat. He said yes. I suggested one place and then F suggested another that he likes better. It was fine. He didn’t want to eat so it’s only fair that he choses the place we go, right?

I got to do the dishes and then we left the house. I’m not sure why I asked, but I asked F if he had his phone. He didn’t, so he went back to get it!

We went to Komeda Coffee. I had a tandori chicken sandwich which was expensive, but honestly quite delicious. I liked it a lot. F had a frappe and I had some iced decaf coffee too. 

After lunch we did some food shopping. I went to Gyomu Supa and got some cereal and some cheese. I didn’t buy too much today. Then, we went to PAL and I did the rest of the shopping. 

F didn’t want to go out for dinner today so I picked up bentos at the store. That took a bit of the budget out. Darn it. I got some food for the next couple of days too.

We came back to the house and I put away the groceries. I went upstairs and relaxed for a while. I watched quite a lot of YouTube. Around 9:30 I went downstairs and heated up my bento and brought it back up to the room. 

I decided to watch a movie tonight and went for 1981’s Escape From New York with Kurt Russell. It was fun. I’d seen most of it before years ago, but I’m not sure if I’d ever watched the whole thing from beginning to end or not. I enjoyed it even if it was a bit schlocky. 

And that’s about it for the day. F fell asleep quite early and I should get myself off to bed soon too. I had a very late night last night and I’d like a bit more sleep tonight. 

I hope we get a break in the weather soon. It’s been so hot for so long this year. It’s rather horrible. I checked the weather app on my phone and it doesn’t look like it’ll be happening this week, sad to say.

Saturday - Hot and Sunny

I got up this morning after F took K to her day service. I went downstairs and F came back around then. I said hi to him and then went back upstairs and slept on for a bit.

F joined me for a while on the bed and we talked about where to go for lunch. I came up with a couple of suggestions and F proclaimed that he would never say no to my suggestions. It’s funny…he doesn’t really say no, but he never says yes either. He always gives me “the look” that says how dare I pick that place!

Anyway, the first place I picked was booked up, the second was really busy and had no parking left…so I came up with another idea. I suggested the place in Kushibiki. We were able to get in there which is very cool! We both had yakisoba…mine with mapo-dofu and F had the five things topping.

We came back to Tsuruoka and stopped at a dessert shop. We picked up some ice cream bars for ourselves (very cheap!) and some frozen desserts to keep for a bit longer. 

Back at the house, we ate our ice cream bars and then I brushed my teeth. We got ready and left the house a little late. Yay us. We drove to my dentist’s office and got there about a minute before the time. I checked in and was taken in almost immediately. Basically, they brushed my teeth today. Sigh. They gave another plug for the rinse that they made me buy and then the hygienist brushed my teeth for me. Apparently, my teeth aren’t too bad so they told me to come back in October for a cleaning and a fluoride treatment. Okay, I don’t mind that, maybe. 

I’m really conflicted, I like my dentist, but I don’t like that she’s always trying to sell me things that I don’t need or use. I don’t want the rinse that she is selling. Mint tooth things sets off a gag reflex on me AND I don’t have a “safe” cup in the bathroom that I can use for it. K has no respect for other people’s property so she would use my cup for drinking probably. I’m a bit germ-phobic at times. 

Since I didn’t have any prohibition about drinking, we decided to go for a drink. We went to a local coffee shop and had a couple of cold drinks. I had an ice tea and F had iced coffee. We enjoyed the wifi and the atmosphere for a while and then came back to the house. 

I went upstairs and F stayed downstairs. I relaxed for a while and then K came back to the house. After a bit, F went out to get something for K’s dinner. F had been feeling under the weather since last night, so I had suggested he get some medicine at the drugstore. He forgot!

I let him sleep for a while and then I asked him how he was feeling. He said he was okay. Since I wanted to give his stomach a break, I suggested going for udon at the chain restaurant and pick up some medicine on the way. F liked that idea!

He got his medicine and we went to the udon restaurant. We both wanted cold udon. I had one with meat and grated daikon, F had a salty broth one. We both picked up some tempura to have with our meals. It was a nice choice for dinner, not too expensive and hopefully easy on F’s stomach.

I checked with F again about how he was. I didn’t want to force him to sit through a movie when he didn’t feel good. He said he was okay, so we drove out to Mikawa. There was an ambulance behind us, so F had to pull over when it got close to us. 

We found a parking spot at the mall and went in. We got our tickets and then we got some popcorn and drinks. 

We went to see The Fantastic Four: First Steps tonight and it was a lot of fun. I loved the retro 60’s vibe and the story was fine. The cast seemed to like each other and I just enjoyed it. 

After the movie we got in the car and I checked with F that he was okay to go to Don Qihote where I wanted to go to buy some cereal! He said he was, but when we got out to the main road, he turned the wrong way. Sigh. He ended up doing a U-turn on the empty road to come back the right way! 

We did a little shopping at Donki. I didn’t buy any cereal as they didn’t have any that I wanted. F got himself some ramen and some socks as well as a few other things. I bought some spaghetti as we needed some and the price was good. I did see some earphones in the audio section that looked interesting. They were over the ear ones. I can’t stand things in my ear and these might be just what I am looking for. They were around 6000 yen, so not cheap-cheap, but not too expensive either. I’m thinking of saving up for them. I probably should have taken a picture of the brand name so I could look them up at the house.

We bought our goods and then left for the house. We came straight here and came upstairs and relaxed. I did put the spaghetti in the kitchen!

We had a quiet rest of evening. F went to sleep fairly quickly, I’m still up doing my blogging and other internet stuff. 

Tomorrow we have a meeting with K’s care manager and then we’ll have to do our usual shopping and finishing up the weekend. It should go well if F is feeling okay tomorrow.

Friday - Hot and Sunny and humid and ugh!

I woke up this morning when my alarm went off. I did my usual trip downstairs and then came back upstairs to the room. I went back to bed and watched a couple of videos and then I fell asleep on one of them! I got up when my alarm went off and I got dressed. 

I ended up doing a couple of loads of laundry. I had a fairly quiet afternoon. I watched some YouTube and tried to stay cool! I went downstairs to get lunch before 3:00 and brought it upstairs to eat. I watched an episode of Buffy The Vampire Slayer today and it was okay. I dunno…I’m not really enjoying the show. It’s going to be taken off in September and that’s fine.

F called me a little after 5 pm to say that he’s on his way back. I went downstairs soon after that and  got started in the kitchen. It was hot in there so I opened up the door into the living room where K had the air conditioner on. It started getting cooler.

Tonight’s dinner was okay. I did pasta again with a yuzu kosho sauce, salad, bacon and a cheesy-garlic pull. It was pretty good. I called F a little early and he came and plunked himself at the table. I was a little annoyed since I was still setting the table. He never offers to help me put things on the table or put things on plates unless I specifically ask him to. Why is that?

Anyway, most of the food disappeared. I have some for lunch on Monday if necessary. I might have to eat it on Sunday, it depends what is going on.

I did the dishes and listened to my movie podcast. It was good as usual. I have more to hear on Monday. After I finished the dishes I went into the living room and spent a few minutes with F. I got us a couple of freezie things and we ate them and enjoyed the cool. 

I went upstairs and tried to cool down the room. It was 30 degrees in our room. Sigh. I threw myself on the bed and relaxed for a bit. F came up a bit later and we spent some snuggly time on the bed and were nice to each other!

I took a shower and then came back to the room and watched an episode of Gotham. I’m still only one season in, but I am really enjoying the show and it has improved a lot. I like a lot of the characters and the acting is generally pretty good. 

F isn’t feeling that well which is a bad thing. Hopefully he’ll feel better tomorrow. I have to go to the dentist tomorrow and I’m hoping that the appointment won’t be a painful one!
