Happy Canada Day!! Wednesday - Rainy and a little cool.

A good day.

I got up quite early this morning and decided to stay up.  I made the bed early on and even got half dressed so I wouldn’t be tempted to go back to bed.  I watched Burn Notice and had breakfast, read a bit on my computer and eventually did a workout.  Today I did the resistance band and the one mile walk ones.  Yay me.

In the afternoon I binge-watched Project Runway All-Stars and not much else!  I finally decided to do something and did a bit of cleaning up.  F has this habit of cleaning up by putting his stuff in a bag and just leaving it.  He never goes back for it.  Well, I found a couple of those sort of bags today and a whole lot of stuff that I just wonder what we were keeping it for anyway.  Out it went.  Or will go tomorrow morning!  I also set some of our recyclables by the door for us to take to the grocery store tonight.  Yay.

I took a shower and then went back on my computer for a while.  F was quite late tonight.  He’d had to go to Yamagata today and then worked a bit late.  When he came home I wanted to go out for Indian food, but he wasn’t too sure.  He was more concerned about money.  He finally agreed to the Indian restaurant, but when I got him out in the car he switched it to a Taiwan Restaurant.  I don’t like the restaurant that he meant so I was rather upset.  It’s my national holiday after all.  The best thing would be to have a Canadian meal somewhere, but since it wasn’t possible, I’d like a good meal!

We got to the Taiwanese restaurant, but it was closed.  Oh, so sad!  I wasn’t sure what F would do then, but he took me to the place I wanted to go. Yay him! We actually had a really nice meal.  The people were happy to see us and they gave us a free drink and free dessert, so that was nice.  I had offered to have just naan and curry, but when we saw the prices, F wanted the set!  It wasn’t that much more money and was reasonable for the amount of food.

After dinner, we went to the fancy new grocery store near the restaurant and picked up some food for the next few days.  Tomorrow I’m going to try and make omelettes for dinner.  I’ll have a few other dishes with them, so I hope it’ll work out okay.

We came home and I booked my trip to Canada.  Yay!!! Earlier in the day I checked out the Air Canada site and instead of checking from Tokyo airports, put in my local airport as my starting point.  The system let me do that! Anyway I worked out my trip earlier in the day and then tonight I actually booked it.  Hurray.  If ANA doesn’t like the trip starting from my local airport they can throw a spanner in the works, but I’m hoping they won’t. I’ll be going in September.  Yay!!!

Anyway, that’s about it for me.  Come back later and find out what interesting things I get up to.  Until tomorrow….

Happy Belated Canada Day!

We're coming up on Independence Day here in the U.S. and already the neighborhood kids have started in on the fireworks. Drives the cats bananas! But remembering how much I loved letting off fireworks, I can't really get too mad.

Thank you!

And I hope you'll have a great Independence Day too.

It always freaks me out that I can buy fireworks anywhere in Japan...in Canada they are a controlled substance and you need a license to get them and set them off! I like fireworks, but they are pretty scary at times.

I love Hanabi season though, F and I are already planning where to go to watch the city's fireworks this year. :-)

I tried to get into Hanabi in Tokyo (there were some beautiful displays near my place in Asakusa) but between the crushing crowds and the mosquitoes--ugh--I just couldn't do it.

Oh--and I forgot to say earlier: How exciting that you're going to Canada in September! I'll bet you've got a crazy to-do list for your time there.

Our local hanabi is quite nice...I don't usually go to the crowded places anymore because I hate crowds too! I do like to watch though.

No to-do list yet, but I'm starting to let friends know that I'm going and I need to do a ton of clothes shopping! Then there's family stuff....
