January 6, 2008 - Sunday

Rainy, with some thunder and lightning.

Today was a quiet, restful day. It was quite good.

I took some medicine before bed last night and I slept well. I got up around 10 am and Fumihiko was still sleeping, so I went back to bed and fell asleep again. I didn't get up until almost 1 am. When I did, I made the bed and got dressed. Fumihiko was up already, but still in his pajamas.

We finally went out around 3 to have our "breakfast". The place we wanted to go was closed, so we went to Jiro instead. It was nice, and reasonably quiet there. I had chicken, as I wanted something a little lighter than usual. It was nice. Fumihiko had shrimp and clam. He said it was good. After our meal, we just came home!

We didn't do much in the afternoon, just relaxed and used our computers. Around 7:30 Fumihiko started asking if I wanted to go out again, so we did. We went to the tonkatsu restaurant and had a nice meal there. I finally got him to order me something different than him. He wanted a thick tonkatsu and I didn't. Yay.

We made a quick trip around the grocery store after our meal. I didn't buy anything as I didn't need anything. I'm not planning to cook tomorrow night. Does that make me a bad person? I hope not!

We came home and again spent a quiet evening at home. I didn't go back on my computer right away, and we ended up watching a couple of documentaries on NHK about Albert Kahn. He was a French financier who hired photographers to go around the world and take colour photographs of ordinary people in different countries. He did this about 100 years ago, just as the world was really starting to change due to the industrial revolution and other factors. Some of the photographs were amazing. There was also some film footage too. I'm hoping to catch more of this series tomorrow night. Much as I rail about Japanese television (and believe me, you don't know the half of it!) there is sometimes amazing stuff on the TV, that is really really interesting and worth watching. Tonight I was lucky enough to find some of it.

Fumihiko has gone to bed now, and I should follow soon too. I'm tired, but had a pretty nice, low key day. My cold isn't too bad now, the doctor's medicine seems to be doing something, and even my headache wasn't too bad today. I usually get horrible ones late at night, but so far, so good. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

And that was my day. Quiet, but in a good way. Night night!
