January 11, 2008 - Friday

Rainy and miserable, but not very cold.

Today was a pretty good day. I got up early (for me) this morning, watched the news and then ended up watching a weird movie called Match Point on WOWOW. Fumihiko came home from the doctor's office (today was about his cold) and watched it too. I showered and then when I was done, we decided to go out for lunch.

Fumihiko took me somewhere spiffy today...Simon. It's a Japanese/French place. We used to go a long time ago, but they moved and we didn't know where they moved. We both had the same thing today, a roast pork cutlet. It was covered with a spicy salsa sauce. It was very nice.

After lunch we went to a drugstore to buy toilet paper! Just one of those things you need, you know?

We came home afterwards and both took naps. Luckily I set my cell phone alarm because if I hadn't I think we'd have overslept. Fumihiko was nice enough to drive me to my school. It was pouring so I really didn't want to ride my bike.

While I was at lunch I got a message saying that one of my students today couldn't come, would I mind rescheduling for tomorrow? Well, as I mentioned yesterday, I had a cancellation on Saturday, so I offered her that space. She's going to take it. Yay. So, today, I had a class at five and then nothing until eight tonight.

My five o'clock class went well today. The student behaved reasonably well, so I was happy. It's nice not to have to work on his behaviour all the time. Between my classes I did something I needed to do. I did some bookkeeping. I hadn't updated my passbook for a while so I didn't know the exact dates that payments had come out, so I'd been putting it off. I'm almost up to date now though. Well, actually, I'm somewhere in the midst of December, but that's practically up to date, isn't it? After I did as much bookkeeping as I could, I read a bit of Atonement. It's great. I am really enjoying the writing style. Why haven't I read McEwan before? However, I know that SOMETHING is going to happen, and soon. Argh. My last class also went well. The student is quite easy going and enjoys having fun. He's doing very well. He also told me that he's going to keep studying with me, so that is a nice thing too.

After 9 pm, Fumihiko called me while I was clearing up and getting ready for tomorrow's first class. I had to do a lot of photocopying of papers for the visitor too, so I wasn't just sitting around wasting time. He told me that he hadn't cooked or prepared anything for dinner, but I knew that he really wasn't feeling that well, so it was hard to get angry at him. When he picked me up, he brought canned coffee so we had that, and discussed how he feels. Then, we went out for dinner.

We had a fairly nice dinner at Cocos. I had pasta and he had udon. I wore the bib that they gave me because I've noticed that a lot of my shirts have stains down the front that I can't get out. I like the shirt I am wearing very much, so I didn't want it to join the stained shirts.

We came home and had a very quiet evening at home. We ended up watching the end of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and then an episode of The Sopranos that I hadn't seen. It was good...but I'm not sure where in the chronology of the show it is. I've only watched the show for a year, so I'm not sure if it's an old episode or not.

And that's my night. It was pretty good actually. I'll be here tomorrow most likely, but Sunday night we're going out of town. I may take my computer along, but I may not. Don't wait up! Night night!
