April 3, 2008 - Thursday

Rain, sun, rain and clouds, then more rain. Weird!

I had an okay day this morning. I got up early for me and watched Star Trek because there wasn't any news on. A bit later I took my shower, then started on dinner.

I did all the veggie prep, then browned the roast in the frypan before putting it in the slow cooker. I put the roast in on one side and the broccoli and cauliflower on the other.

I watched CSI: Miami as I made and ate lunch. Luckily by the time I got to the eating part all the gross stuff was over.

I left my apartment just after 4 and went off to the school. I stopped at a drugstore for a few things and when I came out it was raining lightly. I managed to make it to my school just before it became a torrential downpour. Whew!

I had two classes today and a bit of a chat with a mother in the middle. We're trying to work out a schedule change but it's difficult. I'm worried about moving a children's lesson later in the evening because my apartment is not very soundproof. There are also other students and myself to think about.

After my last class I was tired. Classes went well, but I had been so panicked about this scheduling thing that I didn't sleep well and didn't feel like my usual self. Fumihiko called me to say that one of my students had called and wanted an extra lesson tomorrow. Was it okay? Well, yes! I called her back and we booked a time. I'll be working late tomorrow night. Hopefully it's okay.

When I was about to start the dishes, I called Fumihiko and he picked me up. He's off tomorrow so I suggested that he leave my bike until tomorrow when it'll be daylight. We came home via the grocery store to get some coffee and some margarine, since there's some kind of butter crisis in Japan.

At home Fumihiko made the coffee and I set the table and took the meat out of the slow cooker. It looked great. However, the broccoli and cauliflower? Not so much. Why? It had burnt. Who knew that you could burn veggies in a slow cooker? I guess they were too high so they didn't get any of the liquid in the crockpot. While I rested the meat, I stir-fried the asparagus. I picked the burnt veggies out of the pot and dished up some of the others. Dinner was a big hit. The meat was perfect and the potatoes and onions were great. The unburnt veggies were fine, and the asparagus was pretty good.

Fumihiko did the dishes, and then promptly fell asleep on the couch. He didn't even notice when his bath alarm went, nor when I turned on the TV and watched The 4400. He roused himself a little while ago and then took his bath. He's now in bed.

So that was my day. It turned out quite well. Tomorrow I have two classes but I need to do a lot of work at my school tomorrow. I want to plan a couple of classes for a Saturday student. Wish me luck?

Night.
