Rainy in Tsuruoka and Koriyama, very windy here.
I'm sitting in a hospital room in Koriyama, wondering what the heck I'm doing here! We've set up the cot for me and I'm taking a few minutes to blog while Fumihiko is in the shower. The cot is tiny. If I was a sylph-like Japanese lady it might be fine, but to my rather large Canadian self, it looks awfully small.
Fumihiko woke up early this morning and then something odd happened. His MOTHER phoned our apartment at 6:59 am. She has never phoned us on the telephone there at all, so I was really shocked. Turns out that Fumihiko let her see a form with our telephone number on it. I wondered who phoned and hung up yesterday, now I think I know. We had a spat about that which led to a spat about my not getting up early enough for his liking, which led to more, you get the picture.
We went for breakfast in Gusto and as soon as the food hit his system, he started to calm down and act like a rational person again. He was even nice in the car!
At the Sagae road stop I got out of the car and caught my foot in the cord that connects my iPod to the car's sound system. One of the prongs bent and couldn't fit back in either hole. Sigh. Fumihiko didn't get angry, but decided to leave the highway and we went to an electronic store in Sagae and got a new, shorter cord. Whew. I did pay for it, cause I felt like a total ditz for breaking it in the first place.
We had lunch in another roadside stop, then hit Koriyama a few minutes after two. We found the hospital, but it's a huge maze of buildings and corridors. Fumihiko checked in, and was weighed, measured, poked and prodded a little, and then we went to his room. It's quite nice, bigger than most hotel rooms. It has a toilet and a separate shower, plus a sink by the door and a tiny fridge too. My cot is tucked in beside his bed. It wasn't my idea to put it there, but I guess someone wants me close by!
Fumihiko was given permission to leave the hospital so we went out for dinner. We found a Bikkuri Donkey and had really nice steak there. After that I got a few things at the grocery store next to the restaurant. I need something for breakfast.
I hope that I'll be able to get up tomorrow morning. It's a little difficult thinking that I should go to bed in five minutes. Ack. I'm so not an early to bed person. I have to be up early because Fumihiko has his surgery tomorrow morning, so they'll come in to give him a sedative and to check his temperature.
Well, that's about it for me. I really should go. I might read, or do more crochet. I've been crocheting up a storm today! Wish me luck. Hopefully I'll talk to you tomorrow. Bye!
