Saturday - Clear, warm and sunny

Both F and I went to bed at a crazy time last night. In fact, I was in bed before F! I slept in quite late this morning and then got up. I had had a delivery this morning, so I needed to do some moving around of things. F gave me a hand with translations and I got things sorted out. We talked about going out for lunch, but F realized he hadn’t made his mother anything to eat yet, so he ran off and did that.

I spent some time on my computer and then got changed quickly. F had suggested going to a soba restaurant and for a change, I was happy to go. It’s a really good soba restaurant. It was also rather expensive!  We were able to get in right away as it wasn’t busy, and both had the same thing, 100% soba with tempura and it was very nice!

Our very nice lunch with soba and tempura.

We ran a few errands after lunch. We got an extension cord to try running our old fridge. We don’t want to move it unless we know it works. (Spoiler alert…it seems to!) We picked up a couple of things at the hundred yen shop and then came back to the house.

F got right down to business with the fridges and it really annoyed me. I’ve been keeping MY cooking equipment in the empty fridge because I’m not allowed to keep it in the kitchen. There’s no space for it anyway.

It is now all over the kitchen getting dirty and dusty. Grr. I had to get my cooking stuff out of the apartment fridge and then try and put some of the salvageable food into the fridge once we realized it was working. I tossed so much stuff. K had stuff in there from 2014…it’s gone now. I think F wanted to keep some of the stuff, but honestly….We’ll have to send some of it to university soon. I tossed some of my stuff too, I got rid of some outdated barbecue sauce and managed to spill it over my favourite shirt. I hope it’ll come out.

F went out a couple of times to get supplies and to get his mother a nice bento. At that time, it was about time for us to start getting ready for our dinner.

I had originally planned to wear a nice dress or something, but then decided I’d rather be comfortable. F was wearing jeans to the restaurant, so I didn’t want to dress up too much. I wore a pair of grey pants and a new black shirt that F gave me for Christmas. I added on a long necklace that my BFF gave me a few years ago as the shirt just needed something lighter.

We took a taxi to the restaurant and had a fabulous meal at Susune. The two of us had a bit of alcohol for a change too. F had wine and I had an umeshu or plum wine and then we shared a small bottle of sake that was very nice.

I’m going to post some photos so you’ll have a little look at our gorgeous meal.

These greeted us at our table.

What was inside...fish and vegetables.

This was a fish soup with taro potato. Very nice!

Sashimi with an kamakura

The tempura course. This shrimp was supposed to look like a bagworm!
It tasted good.

Yamagata beef that we cooked for ourselves on a hot stone.
Incredible!

Maberu (Rockfish)

Flatfish and a big shrimp

Squid Sushi and miso soup. That's some of my sake in the upper right corner.

Desserts!  I liked the yuzu sherbet (top right) and the
purin (bottom right) best, but they were all good.

After our meal, we walked to Starbucks and had a decaf coffee. We got there around 8:30 and they closed at 9:00 pm tonight. F was wanted to call a taxi right away, but I asked that he wait a little bit. After Starbucks closed, we went over to the drugstore and did a little shopping. F picked up a few things for his mother, I got myself a new Apple Card. F had called the taxi company as we left Starbucks, but they were busy and said they wouldn’t be able to pick us up for 30 minutes. I suggested that we take turns waiting outside for the taxi, but we ended up standing outside for a while. It wasn’t very cold tonight.

We came back to the house and had a quiet evening in. I had a shower and then watched Resident Alien and the international news… the first time in two weeks!

I’m not sure what we’re going to get up to tomorrow. We’ll probably move the fridges tomorrow and I’ll have to clean the old fridge and put my stuff into it. And then, I’ll have to buy groceries and replace a bunch of things that I threw out.

Come back later if you like and hear all about my day. Until tomorrow….
