Tuesday
Snowy, then clear and warm, then snowy again.
A mixed bag of a day! Fumihiko overslept this morning. He woke up around 8 and ran off to work as fast as he could. He said he wasn't late, which was good, but he didn't even have time for coffee. Poor guy.
I also had a hard time waking up, but I finally did. Yay me. I watched the news and then showered early for a change. I kept one eye on the weather. I was a little scared as there were odd snowflakes floating down, but after a while it turned sunny. I had an early lunch and then set out on my way to work by bicycle before 2:00 pm.
I got to my school and was delighted to note that the big pile of snow in my parking space was gone. Hip hip hooray. Most of the snow in the parking space was gone. I went into my school and finished up my preparations for the day. I brushed my teeth, combed my hair and put on lipstick. The usual. Then, I waited for my student. I thought she'd be early. At 3 I went out to the parking space to see if she was there, and also to check that she was in the right space, but she wasn't there. I kept an eye on my apartment door too, just in case she went in another way. I went back into the school.
I thought that she might be running late. I waited about 10 minutes then I tried to call her. I noticed in my record book that I'd written the wrong date down for the start of her lesson. Had I given her the wrong date? Oh no. I tried to call her to see if she was coming, but there was no answer, just a Japanese message. I started to worry. Maybe she had changed her mind. However, I'd emailed her last week and she said she was excited about coming. Hmm. Finally about 20 after 3 I got a phone call from her. She wanted to know where I was! She said she'd been to my school, but I didn't answer the door. I told her I was waiting for her and that I would keep an eye out for her. She said she'd try to come again. I went outside and luckily it was nice and warm in the sun. I waited and waited, and then I saw a small car start to turn the opposite way from my school, turning left instead of right. The driver saw me, and then switched directions. It was her! Whew. We worked out that she'd gone to the wrong Leopalace! There are a few in the area so it wasn't too hard to understand.
Anyway, after that kind of beginning, you'd think we'd have a bad class, but we didn't. I gave her a full class today because I did have time afterwards and I felt a little bad that she got lost...and was relieved that she still wanted to come! It was good. She seemed to have a good time and we enjoyed ourselves.
I did have to run a bit for my next class, but everything went well in that one too. Hurray. We talked about the weather in the middle class. And, as we were singing about it being sunny, we got snow. Lots of snow! My final class of the day went quite well. We studied millionaires today and it was quite interesting. One of the students and I will wrap up the lesson on Thursday.
After class I did my clean up and paperwork. I also set up for Thursday's first class. I had to find cards for the students. I hate those things! I spend so much time looking for cards that it isn't funny. (They're double sided, so I often need to swap out cards for other classes. I can't just put them away when I'm done.) I got Fumihiko to bring me home.
At home I cooked tonight. We had buta tama kimchee stirfry and it was good. I put some tofu in it too. It seems to balance the kimchee's spiciness. We also had a salad and some shu mei from the freezer.
And that was it for the evening basically. We didn't even turn on the TV tonight! Just before Fumihiko went to bed I made some yummy Orange Chocolate tea and we had that.
Anyway, I have to be off. Tomorrow I think I'm going to the big mall by myself. Wish me luck. I also have to buy bus tickets for this weekend. Night!
