November 20, 2008 - Thursday

Snowy and cold, rainy.

Today was an odd sort of day. I got up on time, watched the news and then did net surfing for ages. It was quite late when I showered today. I was thinking about going to the post office in the morning but the weather was terrible so didn't.

I watched Hotel Babylon today. It was okay. I'm not sure if I'll keep watching it or not. Probably as I do like British shows.

I started getting ready for work a little earlier today. I took the tags off my new boots, and off my new coat from Canada. I still hadn't done that! I cooked my lunch, ate it and then headed out.

When I left the apartment it was raining quite heavily so I wore my old winter coat under my rain cape, plus my regular shoes. The further I got from the apartment, the more the rain turned into slushy snow. Yuck. It was rough going and a little scary. I took my time and cycled steadily.

I stopped off in a drugstore as I often do on Thursday. I got something for my niece there, and a few things for myself. I was sad to leave the store as I had just started to warm up again.

I got to the school safely and went in. I had to take off my raincape at the door, and then I hung it up. I hung up my trousers too as they were very wet. I put on work clothes and turned on the heaters. It was a quite cold 11 degrees in the school when I arrived. That's cold. Last week it was around 18 degrees.

My class today went rather well. The student and I talked about her future options and we may change the textbook. I'm okay with that, I was half thinking about doing it anyway. Hopefully at the Expo this weekend I'll be able to get a few ideas.

After work, Fumihiko picked me up and we stopped off at the grocery store and bought fixings for tomorrow's dinner. Yay us. We also got some ice cream. Why? Tell you later!

When we came home we both did some of the cooking. I cooked the chicken and set the table, Fumihiko made coffee and prepared the tofu. Everything was lovely really. Then, it was time for dessert. Today before I made my lunch, I made applesauce! It was still hot when I left for work, so I left it on the stove, covered of course. When I was cooking the chicken I reheated it and added some cinnamon, vanilla and a little Splenda. I put the ice cream in a bowl and surrounded it with the hot applesauce. It was very good if I say so myself, and got rave reviews. I haven't made applesauce in years, and I only made it now because the apples were starting to go a little off!

We had a very quiet evening here. Fumihiko has already gone to bed, and I'll try to follow soon. Tomorrow I only have one class as well, hopefully it'll go well. I really hope it doesn't snow anymore tonight as getting to work is a pain.

Anyway, that's it for me. Catch you tomorrow night?

Well, thats interesting. You eat applesauce with icecream? We eat it with roast pork in Aus, yum!! Just like having cranberry with turkey really. I've never considered it as a dessert, though maybe i'll try it when i have some in the house. :)

Actually, I do both! My Mum was Scottish, so sometimes we ate it with pork chops or roast pork, but the last time I was at the grocery store there weren't any pork chops to be seen.

We had enough main course, but hubby likes sweets (okay, me too!) so we had it as dessert. Usually in Canada they load apple things with too much cinnamon, but mine had just a hint of it. It was good!

I miss cranberry sauce....and turkey come to think of it. With there just being the two of us a turkey is too big. For our Christmas meal I usually order a pre-cooked chicken and that does us really well.
