Lovely and warm in the afternoon, snow at night. ACK.
I had a nice day today. I got up at my usual time and watched the news. I am so loving getting the news regularly. And, today the news was amazing, about the plane crash in the Hudson River. No one died...at least not that I heard. Bravo to the pilot and crew. Guess next time I'm on a plane I'll pay a little more attention to the "if we put down over water" instructions!
Just had a veggie day at home in the morning and afternoon. I got ready for work around 2:30. I started cooking then. When I left around 3:30 I walked to the school. I thought about biking as the roads were clear, but decided I needed the exercise.
I made good time. I did have a cute thing happen. The route I've been using for the last couple of days takes me past a senior day care center. Tonight as I got to the gate, a bus pulled out of the yard, full of old people. There was one little old lady who waved at me (not sure if she was waving at me, or just hadn't stopped waving goodbye to the people at the center.) Anyway, I waved back and then I had the whole darn bus of people waving at me! Sure beats them staring at the "Gaijin". Not sure if they could tell I was a gaijin. I was all bundled up in a coat, hat and neck warmer. Anyway, it made me laugh so it was nice.
I checked the parking space at my school and it was fine. I did a little shovelling, but not much really. Tonight's student gets dropped off, his family doesn't park.
I got ready for the class, and then when the student came, taught it. It actually went quite well. The only thing is the student has trouble repeating what I say. Not sure if it's a "can't make the sounds" or "can't hear the sounds" situation. Still, he did very well. I've been noticing lately that he is getting more communicative with me. Unfortunately, it's not in English yet, but he uses drawings and gestures quite well. When I can, I fill in the blanks for him.
After class I did paperwork and sent Fumihiko a text message. There was no answer. About 15 minutes later I called and left a message. No response. so, rather than go home on foot, I did some work. I finished up my financial recording for last year. I did that, then read a magazine. Finally, around 8 pm, my husband called me. He'd had to work late. An emergency had happened around 5 pm, and he'd had to do the driving.
We came home and when I left the school I was surprised at how much snow there was outside. There had been at least 10 cm. Darn. That means I have to get to school early tomorrow to shovel. Just hope that the snowplow doesn't plug up the driveway too. I hate it when that happens.
I cooked dinner tonight. We had minestrone soup (from a can, but good), and then some pork and salad. It was good. There was a Russell Crowe movie on WOWOW, so I watched that while hubby did the dishes. He fell asleep on the couch and is still there, hours later.
Well, I do have to get to work tomorrow, and I think I really need some beauty sleep, so talk to you tomorrow night, okay? Got to go! Night night.

The imagery of a bus load of seniors waving back at you, even thoough you really didn't wave at (all of) them is hillarious.
Love your blog.

Thanks! It was fun for me too.
Thanks also for visiting.
If you don't mind me asking Helen, what is Fumihiko's job?
Sounds like you had a good day!
He works for the prefecture as a driver. He takes people places for inspections and such. He also can drive buses when necessary (but not the city type where the passengers pay to get on.)
