Snowy. Snowy. Snowy. Did I mention that it snowed today?
Today was a pretty good day. I first woke up at 8 when Fumihiko came back in from outside. He'd gone outside to shovel snow and he was really panting when he came back in. I didn't know that's what he was doing, I thought he was in pain or something so it woke me up!
I woke up again around 12 to an empty house. I knew that Fumihiko had a few errands to do over at his house. He took his mum shopping and got new lightbulbs for his house, that kind of thing. Good son stuff. I got up, made the bed, and got dressed. I was at my computer when Fumihiko came home. It was nice not to feel guilty for keeping him from doing things on Sunday morning.
We decided to go to the Daiichi Hotel for lunch and were almost there when Fumihiko changed his mind and decided to take me to the Grand Elson instead. We had a lovely lunch there. I had pasta, spaghetti with bacon and potato and mushroom in a cream sauce. Yummy. Fumihiko had Italian curry. It was made to look like the Italian flag. It looked good too.
After lunch we went to the nearest hundred yen shop to get new vacuum cleaner bags, then were going to come home. I was a bit sleepy after lunch and with the roads being really terrible just wanted to go home and stay there! However, Fumihiko didn't want to go home. He didn't want to do more snow shovelling . He said that he'd done enough in the morning. What should we do? We were almost halfway home when I suggested going to karaoke.
We went to karaoke and had a great time. We sang a lot of different songs. Today we used the Joysound system. They have a lot of Canadian artists, so I was able to indulge myself in wailing some Jann Arden, Glass Tiger, Tom Cochrane, Barenaked Ladies and Tal Bachman. Yay me. Now if they'd just add a little Gowan there I'd be a very happy woman!
More than three hours later it was time to leave. Fumihiko wanted to have Korean food, so we tried our usual but it was closed. He started driving off somewhere in the boonies, nearly got us stuck in the snow, but finally found his way to another restaurant. There we had some Korean food. We had chichime, chap chae, bulgogi and oden itame. The bulgogi and the chapchae were wonderful, the chichime was good, but greasy, and the oden itame was a bit strange. Still, I'd probably go back there as I'd like to try some of their other dishes.
We came home and had a quiet evening. Fumihiko had forgotten to go and vote in the prefectural election today but was very happy that his candidate won. It means he's got a new boss...and she's a woman. Apparently the first female Governor (not sure if that's the right word) of a prefecture in Tohoku. Woot.
That's about it. It seems like it has stopped snowing now (crosses fingers, knocks wood) so am wondering what to do with myself tomorrow. I have an early class on Tuesday, so might hie me thither to the school and do a little snow removal/shovelling. Sigh. What are the chances of a heatwave between now and Tuesday morning?
So, something important to mention before I sign off. Happy Robert Burns day to any Scots oot there! I didna eat any haggis today, because I dinna ken where I'd get it! Night night.
