Sunny and warm, lovely weather.
I went to bed fairly late last night, but it didn't matter much. We didn't really have anything planned for today. We had a relaxing morning at home. I didn't sleep until noon for a change. Yay me.
Fumihiko suggested a restaurant out in Yunohama so we went there for lunch. I'm not sure that it was a great idea as it was very busy. We had to wait for ages to get a table. There were empty tables, they just hadn't been cleared yet. At first we thought the restaurant only had two staff members, but as the afternoon wore on, we noticed there were quite a few people working. Yet, no one to bus the tables. Our food was good, not great, and took a long time. We didn't get a water refill and even though he tried, Fumihiko couldn't get a waiter's attention. It's really too bad, because we would have had dessert if we could have caught the waiter's eye.
After lunch we drove to the port and parked. We got out and walked along the wharf to see if we could see any fish. There were only tiny ones, but at one point I noticed what looked like a brown cloud in the water. It was a shoal of baby shrimp. There were millions of them!
We came back into Tsuruoka after our visit to the sea. We drove a bit over the city, past the park in the middle. The cherry blossoms are out about 60% today, it's looking lovely there. We went to Yamaya, the foreign foods place and I got some decaf coffee. Looks like they're selling it off. Sigh. What will I do without my regular supplier? We came home after that to check the movie schedule in Mikawa.
We decided to go to a new for us restaurant for dinner. We had read about it while we were in the lunchtime's restaurant. I had a gratin tonight and Fumihiko had ramen. As usual, he didn't like it much. Sigh. Why does he order ramen at places? He never likes it. Mine was fine. We might try there again, but at lunchtime if we can.
We went out to the mall after dinner. Fumihiko was going to do one of his famous "wander the mall for 1.5 hours" things which drive me crazy, but then he started looking at shoes. I've been bugging him to get new shoes because I noticed that lately when he takes his shoes off, his feet are all sweaty. I told him to look for leather shoes this time, and that I was going to look for a new pair too. I got a few walk-bys by the security lady, but she didn't say anything to me. I tried on a couple of pairs that weren't quite right, then Fumihiko found me a pair to try. The first pair I tried were almost okay, but not quite. He found them in another colour, so I tried them, and they were okay. He got a pair too, so we went in search of a cash register and bought our new shoes.
We had a quick drink before the show, then went upstairs to see the movie. Tonight we saw The International with Clive Owen and Naomi Watts. It was okay. I sort of liked it because it had a lot of action, but was a bit difficult to follow if you didn't pay attention. Also, I thought it was rather nice that Naomi Watt's character was happily married and didn't have an affair or fall in love with Clive Owens. How often does that happen in the movies?
We came home after the movie and I watched another Clive Owen's movie on the telly, Shoot 'Em Up. It was weird, but funny. Incredibly violent, even more than The International, and we were both laughing at it. Some of the things we were supposed to believe were incredible. He jumps out of a plane (with a parachute) and the bad guys follow him. He has a shoot out in mid air, then has to dispatch the baddies in various nasty ways when he loses his gun.
Well, it's now really late. Fumihiko is snoozing on the couch. I should try and wake him up enough to make him go to bed. Catch you tomorrow night?
