Cold, wet and rainy.
I got up this morning and watched the news. In English. There was great rejoicing in the land! Feel connected again.
I had an early class today, so I had to hustle my bustle around the apartment this morning. There was nought on the telly, so I re-watched Blades of Glory. Supremely silly fun.
I left for work just before 1 and made good time, despite it being quite cold and windy. I was pedalling against the wind for ages. I set up at the school and even had to turn on both heaters as it was so cold.
My student and I had a good class when she came. She's really nice, and works hard at her English. She usually brings a list of things to ask me at the start of class. Today she asked about movies and books, two of my dearest loves!
After she left, I did some paperwork and prep, then decided what to do. The clouds when I came to work were terribly ominous, so I thought I had better go to the store for my late lunch as soon as possible. I decided to bike to the convenience store a few blocks away and hit the drug store on the way back. Well, I dressed up warmly and went on my way.
I got the convenience store but...it was closed today. Huh? There were at least 10 trucks parked outside the store and men were changing the signs, perhaps just cleaning or putting new light bulbs in them, but the store didn't seem to be open. Oh dear. What to do? I decided the grocery store complex was just a few more blocks away, so I could go there. I did.
I arrived at Pal a few minutes later and went into the grocery store. I bypassed the KFC (hurray for me!) and checked out the store's deli area. I saw some amazing sandwiches. They were made on sub buns, buns with real bite too them, not the annoying soft things called buns here. I got one that was nama-ham with lettuce and tomato inside. I picked up a few other things too. I left and went back to the drugstore I usually go to on Thursday. I bought my stuff and went back to my school.
I had my lunch when I went back, as I was a bit hungry after all that exercise! It was very good. The sandwich was amazing. I didn't know I could get such nice ones in Tsuruoka. I've never seen them before.
I read and then did more prep work for my classes. I had two more classes in the evening and they went quite well.
Around 10 I called Fumihiko and we ended up going to Cocos for dinner. I had the gorgonzola burger for the first time in ages. It was good, but I could have had chicken!
We came home and had a quiet evening. Fumihiko booked us a hotel for next month. We've been invited to a party next month and if he drinks (which he probably will) we can't come back home the same night. So, we'll stay over in Sakata.
That's it. Tomorrow I should take two books to the post office to send to their new homes. I got two international bookmooches today. That's great because it means I get to ask for more books. Hurray!
Gotta go. Night night!
