July 6, 2009 - Monday

Sunny and very hot.

I got up fairly early today, before 9 am and stayed up. Wow. It helped that I was watching a movie later on too. I watched most of Freedom Writers with Hillary Swank. It wasn't bad. I like movies about great teachers. It had poor old Imelda Staunton as the "bad" teacher. She was deliciously wicked in Harry Potter, but here she was just petty.

I had an okay day at home. I showered, dressed, even had lunch at home. I watched a lot of TV, the stuff from the weekend and some of the daytime shows on WOWOW. I even was wrapping Katie's presents when F came home.

However, I do have to say that when F came home I wasn't really happy. He came in, barely said hello and definitely didn't kiss me, went into his dressing room, put on his jimbei and went to bed. What? He said he was tired and proceeded to sleep until 8:30 when I finally decided I'd had enough and woke him up.

We went out to Cocos for dinner. I had their hamburg steak thingy with ponzu sauce. It was nice, but the little heating stone didn't last long enough. And, towards the end of the meal I started getting toothache. Hubby was so into his backache that he didn't notice I was in pain too.

We went to the grocery store and my toothache was getting worse. All he wanted to do was have a walkabout, but I wasn't having it. He did his usual "I really don't want to pay for the groceries" bit at the end too. He not only is the slowest person on earth when it's time to pay for something, but he makes an art out of it. His wallet doesn't have a coin section, so he carries a coin purse separately. Sigh. Tonight the coin purse was buried in his pocket under his cellphone and some other crap. Of course, he has to pay in exact change and of course it takes him five minutes to find the coins and fish them out. ARGHHHHHHHHH! I was so embarrassed. In the old days when I was working for the eikaiwa I used to pay for the groceries myself because I was so annoyed with the way he pays for things. Now, I just pretend I'm not there. By now, my teeth are threatening to fall out of my head and I'm almost in tears. I grab the basket, quickly load them in our bag and head out the door. He's trailing me by a mile.

We get home and I race out of the car and into the apartment. I put down the grocery bag and run into the bathroom and grab my bottle of Tylenol and take two. He doesn't even notice. Sigh.

I put the groceries away and he changes back into his jimbei, goes into the bedroom and closes the bedroom door. No "goodnight", nothing.

At 11 I turn on the TV to watch American Idol and five minutes later, guess who appears. Him. So, he stays up to watch the show, which is only on for one hour tonight. Then there's a really awful show on about car crashes when people run away from the police. He wants to watch it. I asked him to put it on the recorder, which he does. I can't watch that kind of thing.

Anyway, he disappeared again and I can hear him snoring through the bedroom door. Don't know what's up with him really.

The tylenol that I took earlier have worn off. I think I'm going to have to take more before I go to bed. Darn. I guess I'll have to go back to the dentist. I was hoping to wait until I was in Canada, then at least I could see a good dentist. F and I have differing opinions on the dentist that he takes me to see.

So, not a great day when all is said and done. I worked on my clapochet tonight, that was good, but as I wrote below, I may restart it as the side tension is a bit tight. I'm working on it now, but this yarn doesn't have any give.

Gotta go, sorry for all the whining, but it's my blog and I'll whine if I want to!

Sorry to hear it wasn't such a good day. Pain effects people in different ways, I guess he's not really coping very well.

The clapochet looks lovely. I wish I knew how to do that!!

There is a great remedy for toothache in Japan, we use it here, I find it works better than panadal or nurofen etc.

You know the herbal medicine Seirogan? If you get a bottle of those, putting one of the balls between your teeth is a great pain reliever for toothache. It's used for diarrhea too (if you swallow), but if you hold between your tooth, by clamping between the teeth, it's really effective!
Here is the link to their website, it shows the bottle too. http://www.seirogan.co.jp/english/seihin/seirogan/index.html

I only offer it because it's a herbal medicine and having used them in the past and had alot of healing from them, I thought you might benefit too. :)

Thanks Kelly, I'd never heard of it.

Tylenol works well, but you aren't supposed to take a lot in one day.

And I know he's in a lot of pain at times too, but he didn't even ask how I was yesterday at all.

Thanks! Actually, today it does feel a bit better. Yesterday was bad though.
