August 11, 2009 - Tuesday

Rainy, muggy, cloudy and generally blah.

It's unbelievable. I read in the paper today that Tohoku hasn't finished the rainy season yet. What is it waiting for? Come on you stupid cloud system, go rain on somebody else! It'll be Autumn before you know it.

I had a pretty good morning. I felt quite good when I got up today, so I showered early and then watched a movie from last week's taping. I had taped Forgetting Sarah Marshall and I quite liked it. It wasn't brilliant, but it did have some nice yuks. Not a family film though.

I watched my telly stuff on WOWOW too today, and around 4 cooked my lunch. I headed off to the school afterwards. I was a tad worried about being late but thought it wouldn't matter much.

I got there, and got to work on cooling down the school and prepping for today's lesson. I was supposed to have two lessons, but last night I had an email from a student saying that a family member had died, so she couldn't come. Fair enough. I wouldn't expect her to, it's just that she's leaving on Sunday for the US so I won't get to see her before she goes.

I dried my hair at the school as the humidity had made it totally wet, then 10 minutes later it was wet again. Sigh. I was all set for my student apart from that. I had the hot water on, the new coffee out, the tea restocked. Guess what. She called five minutes before her class was to start and said that she couldn't come. Her Obon visitors had arrived two days early and she had to cook dinner for them. Sigh. Oh well. I used the time to read my paper and then prep for another class.

Around 9 I called F. I was hoping that he'd call me, but he didn't. He had told me he'd be working late tonight. I'm not sure what he considers late. He finished around his usual time, so he could have called me. He picked me up, brought a box of books over to the school for me and then took me off for dinner.

We were going to try a new place tonight, but it was closed. We were a bit late. I suggested a Chinese place we went to before. We got there just in time for last order, so I don't think we were too popular. The menu was mostly kanji so it was hard for me to read. I told F I just wanted veggies and meat, a stirfry. I found one on the menu but he suggested the next one with garlic. Against my better judgement, I had it. It was good, but I don't really like spicy food, and the garlic was a bit much. Then, F had some noodle dish and he ladled some out to give to me, but I didn't want it. It's a very annoying thing he's been doing lately. He gives me food that I don't want and "insists" that I eat it. Well, I didn't want any of his dish, and told him so while he was dishing it out. I didn't eat it. I think he was mad, but believe me, if I had wanted some, I would have had it. I didn't. I don't like being force fed just to keep him happy. He had also ordered gyoza, which I did like, so I had a couple of them. I managed to drop one into the leftover sauce on my plate and it splashed all over my arm and shirt. Damn. I wasn't too happy. That sort of stuff is hard to get out.

We came home via the grocery store. I'm going to make my version of Tacos tomorrow. I really don't want to go out for dinner all the time.

We spent a quiet evening together, before hubby headed for bed. He's snoring again, so it might be an earplug night. I'm not sure.

Anyway, tomorrow and the next day I'm off work. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with myself. I can't go out of town as I need to save my money for Canada. If the rain ever stops, I can maybe go out for a bit. That would be really nice. Wish me luck with that! Night.
