Wednesday - Hot and sunny

A mostly good day. I overslept this morning. Part of it was intentional, but when I saw the clock this morning I was a bit surprised. Still, I got up and on with my day.

I had a quiet morning at home. There was nothing on TV, so I watched a couple of episodes of Brisco County Jr. That was fun. I do get a kick out of seeing actors on the show who weren’t famous at the time but are now.

In the afternoon I decided that I should go out and check F’s bike. Since my bike was out of commission, he loaned me his bike. It’s a good thing I did. When I got there it was dirty, the back tire needed air and worst of all, the chain was off. I fixed the chain, sprayed the chain too as it was dirty and cleaned off the worst of the cobwebs. I took it for a test and even though it is very different from my bike, decided that it would do for a day or two.

I came back to the apartment, scrubbed my hands and then took a shower. I even used my hairdryer after the shower. At first I thought it was broken, but it wasn’t. I’d forgotten how to use it.

When F came home, I sent him off to take my bike in to be fixed. He was back about 10 minutes later with the job done. Whew! I had thought it would be out of commission for a day or two. All that needed done was a bolt tightened.

I finished getting ready for going out. I changed my outfit about 4 times, but finally fixed on one that was okay. My student arrived and picked me up. Off we went to Sultan.

We went into the restaurant and we were welcomed rather nicely. The owner started us off with a salad and some hummus, and then the other student joined us. We had a great meal. I’m really proud of my students as I think they were both a little nervous about the food, but they did well. Neither of them had tried Egyptian food before, but they were soon digging in to a lot of it. We had about 3 main dishes and a few naan with our hummus. In the end, it was a little under 2000 yen for each of us. Hurray.

My student drove me home and then I greeted F. I thought he’d go out for ramen, but he didn’t. He made it at home. Sigh. Silly man. His big chance wasted! Still, he suggested going out for dessert, so we did that. We drove over to Cocos and had a kakigori like sweet and drink bar.

We came home and watched Grey’s Anatomy. (Loosely translated—I watched and crocheted, F played with his phone.) It was fun. Afterwards I watched the documentary about the Canadian town where some people tried to eat local food for 100 days. It was 100 miles for 100 days. It was very interesting, but of course, BC is a little different for food than Japan is. So much of our food is imported, and nowadays, that isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

Anyway, I finally got F off to bed. He is staying up too late these days, and I’m not getting the solitude I need until really really late. So, yes, I’m blaming him for being up this late! Not really, but I like a bit of quiet time before bed and it’s hard to come by at times.

Got to go. Night!
