Postcrossing Cards - Incoming

November Wrap-Up

Beware what you wish for! Last time I said "hopefully I'll have more cards next week." I did! In fact, I have rather a lot of cards to post about now. I've received five cards since I last posted.

The first card, for the movie Madagascar comes from the Netherlands. I like that it is an old fashioned looking card. It looks rather like a vintage postcard for a holiday resort. I haven't seen the movie, but the card makes me want to see it now!

Working clockwise from the top, the next card is also for a film. It is a poster by Alfons Mucha and came to me from the Czech Republic. I knew that Mucha did advertising posters, I just didn't realise that he did film posters too.

The top right card came from Shanghai and shows The Bund in 1912. I love old photos of places, and this shows a famous area of Shanghai. The writer tells me that nowadays there are only tall buildings in this area.

Bottom right is a view of Vaasa, the sunniest city in Finland. The sender is a mother of three who works as a quality engineer and studies Italian on Monday evenings. A woman after my own heart, she writes that she lives in a big messy house!

The last postcard, bottom left, is from the US and shows a fort in Florida. Fort Matanzas is in St. Augustine and was to watch for enemy vessels approaching from the south and via the River. The sender of the card drives a ferry boat to the island where the fort is located.

So there you have it. Another five great cards. What will December bring? Can't wait to find out!
