Monday - Sunny and Hot
A good day..and weekend!
Apologies for not updating last night. We arrived back near midnight and I just couldn’t stay up any later. I was very tired and needed my rest.
The whole trip went well. We made great time to Koriyama, were able to park in the hotel’s parking lot and had a gorgeous dinner at a place F found on his phone. We got a movie card for the room and watched the new version of Jumanji, which wasn’t too bad. I’m glad I didn’t pay full price for it at the cinema, however.
The hotel was great. The location was excellent. Our room was very small, but the bed was good. The bathroom was amazing. It had a lovely bath and a shower in the room. It actually had two types of shower, a regular one with a handle and a rain shower. We both used the showers and the bath.
We had breakfast at the hotel the next morning. It was a buffet in a Vietnamese restaurant and the food was good. They also had some Vietnamese choices available so I had a little bit of curry and also pho for breakfast. That was fun.
We checked out and made our way to the museum. We’d asked one of the ladies that lives nearby if she’d like to meet up and she would. We waited in the coffee shop until we saw her and then we went through the exhibition together.
We saw the exhibition “Turner and the Poetics of Landscape” and it was great. He was so prolific though that by the end we were a bit burnt out. My friend didn’t go to see the regular collection, but F and I did. I was thrilled to see a couple of Burne-Jones’ there.
As we finished up, the rain started, so we had to hustle to our cars. We didn’t have much time for a proper goodbye, but it was fine.
F and I had a very late lunch at a Denny’s and then got on the road for Costco. We made it to Yamagata City with a light on the gas gauge and less than an hour before Costco closed! He had to buy a bit of gas before we went shopping, just in case.
At Costco, we split up. He got some gas for the car and I started shopping. I knew that I’d be faster by myself since I only wanted a few things and I knew where to get them. I picked up a few things and when I was done, F was coming back into the store. We went through the checkout and discovered that we had to renew our membership too.
Even though F wanted his hotdog and drink, it was 8 pm and it was time to leave the store. We put the groceries in the car and began the long ride back to Tsuruoka. We stopped along the way to have dinner and it was very nice. It was Japanese for a change but good. In Tsuruoka, we bought a few perishable groceries and came back to the house. K was already in bed.
This morning, F was really not in good condition. He took the day off work and went back to sleep. He did make breakfast for his mother and went back to sleep. We didn’t really rustle ourselves until the afternoon.
We went to see Ant-Man and The Wasp and really enjoyed it. F was a bit nervous when he saw all the teenage boys that were going in to see it too, but I think I made more noise than they did! It was just a fun movie, nothing too serious.
On the way back to the house we stopped and bought bentos for dinner, then had dinner with K back at the house. F did most of the dishes, but there weren’t really that many.
We went to the Internet Cafe for 3 hours and I enjoyed that. I did a whack of crochet and came very close to finishing my blanket. I have a bit of edging to do, and I’m thinking about adding more to the outside. I’ll see how it looks tomorrow when I do finish it.
So that’s about it. You are up to date. Or I am? I forget how that works.
Come back later and see what happens on Tuesday. Until tomorrow….
