Tuesday - Rainy and warmer
A quiet day.
I got up this morning and was awake. I’m not always awake when I get up, but today, I was! I got up, made the bed and did my morning things. I even had tea before 10am, which is something I’ve been skipping lately. It was a nice feeling. And, magically, my side was feeling much better. It must have been F’s massage yesterday evening.
I did a couple of huge loads of laundry today and hung them about my room to dry. I didn’t really do much else.
When F came back to the house tonight I suggested that I make some pasta for us. He was a bit skeptical because he didn’t think his mother would like it. I thought she’d be fine. F and I ran out to the store to get some salad and then we came back. I got the pot on to boil the pasta and then since F was in the kitchen standing around, I asked him to cut up the meat. He seemed rather passive aggressive tonight. I’d ask his opinion on something and he’d throw it back on me saying he didn’t know. When I asked him to slice the duck he wanted to know how thick. I told him the same as last time he did it.
I got everything done and put out on the table. F helped a bit, but he mostly just got in the way.
Dinner was okay. I liked it, but it was for me anyway. I think K was okay with it, she ate most of it, but unloaded some of it on F! After I finished I got the table cleared again and had just pre-rinsed the dishes and had them in lovely hot soapy water when F came in and offered to wash them. I let him do it but we have quite different techniques! Still, they got done and I was happy about that.
We went off to the onsen tonight as F wanted to take a bath. Before we left the house, his mother tackled me about something. I had no idea what she wanted to say, so F told me later. Apparently, F is staying out too late because he has to go to work. It’s okay for me as I don’t work, but not for F. I get her point, but both F and I are adults and would like to decide our own schedules, thanks anyway. F and K had a few words and we went off to the onsen.
F took his bath and I sat in the lobby and updated my phone. Then, I tried to do a craft with my bobbin knitter, but the thread is too thin for it. I could buy another ball and do two at once. I shall have to see. Or I could crochet it.
There was an odd occurrence while I was there. I was minding my own business when a guy came and sat down beside me. Usually, in Japan no one sits beside me unless they want a free English lesson so I was startled. Then, the guy started to talk to me. He explained that he was a friend of F’s….used to run the sushi shop we used to go to when we first got married. I haven’t seen him in years so didn’t recognize him at all. He left soon after, but it was a nice moment.
On the way back into Tsuruoka, I asked that we either go to a convenience store or the big supermarket on the way. F chose the supermarket and we bought a few things for tonight and the next few nights. I got something for K’s lunch tomorrow…if she shares, that would be nice! I worry that she doesn’t eat properly. Not enough to cook meals for her, but I do worry!
We came back to the house and I watched a little TV before taking a shower. I’m just winding down before bed basically.
And that was my day. If the weather is good tomorrow I’ll probably go out to the post office as I need some stamps and to make a payment. Fingers crossed I get it done. Come back later and see what I get up to. Until tomorrow….
