Sunday - Hot and Sunny, but cloudy

I first woke up early but fell asleep for a while. When I woke up next, F was telling me that he was taking his mother off to the onsen.  I snoozed for a little, but got up finally and took care of a personal thing. Unfortunately, they came back while I was finishing it up. I was not pleased.

I came upstairs and then F did his “what do you want to eat” bit.  It exhausts me, it really does.  Half the time I would like him to just let me off outside a restaurant I like and then make him just bugger off to a ramen shop.  I’d enjoy myself so much more.  I suggested going to Naa, the farmer’s restaurant outside the city proper.  He liked that idea.

We drove out there and got a table. The first thing he did was to grab his phone.  I asked him if maybe he didn’t need to use his phone at lunch.  I suggested that he look around and notice how everyone else was talking to their lunch partners. He pouted and basically refused to talk to me. I told him to just go ahead and use it then. He did. I barely was acknowledged for the whole of lunch.  It isn’t just that he watches things on his phone, he listens to them too.  Of course, he doesn’t want to talk to me when he can listen to right-wing nut-jobs or whomever they are. Much more interesting than I am. I did not use my phone during lunch.

After lunc,h we went back into the city, and although I had asked that we go to Hard Off, the secondhand shop for a bit, we drove on by it. He did do something good for me though, he took me to a bank machine where he helped me pay for my travel insurance for the end of the year.

Then, F decided that he wanted to drive to Mt. Gassan. He asked if it was okay. I didn’t really want to but I remembered that it is beautiful up there and the road closes early in the season.  We drove towards the mountain, stopping to pick up a couple of drinks for the car.

We got to a certain point in the road and it was blocked off. Oh no!  It seemed too early to be closed though.  F turned the car around and we went to an information centre and asked there. They were doing construction on the road and we could go to the mountain, but we had to go another route. We tried!  We drove off. F couldn’t set the GPS in the car, so we ended up driving down little country roads. It was beautiful in that area, but we couldn’t find the proper way. We’d get to a point and the road would just end!

F gave up finally and told the machine we wanted to go back to Tsuruoka. It helped us get there. It did take a while though.

Back in the cit,y I suggested coffee or shopping.  F went for shopping. We went to the hardware shop and got something for a Christmas present, then to Yamaya for a few food things.  We decided to get K a bento, so F ordered one from a store and then we had to go and pick it up. The store he used is next to the bulk frozen food store that I like, so we went there first.  I picked up a few things for the freezer and living here. We grabbed the bento and then delivered it.

The house was dark when we arrived. It wasn’t 8 pm yet and K was in bed. She did get up to eat though.  I put away some of the stuff and F put away other parts of the stuff.

We went out to have dinner at Sashimi-ya.  We both had tuna and negitoro bowls, plus oolong tea and we shared a couple of starters. Mine was cucumber sticks with mayo and a miso thing, F’s was deep-fried tofu. It was good.

We came back to the house which was a huge mistake as we didn’t buy real groceries for the house. Oh well. Who needs to eat tomorrow anyway?  When we got back to the house I asked F if he was going to distribute the local magazine that he’s supposed to do. He said he was, so I asked if he wanted some help. I was thinking it might be nice to walk with him. He was quite rude in turning me down, so I stopped talking to him for the rest of the night.

I took a shower, watched The Mentalist, and did a little blogging and internet checking. We’ve been having a bit of a fight lately about his cell phone use and my computer use. He argues that I’m always on my computer when I’m at the house. It is true.  There is one chair in our bedroom and it is in front of the desk that is my computer’s home. I refuse to sit on the bed…if I did, what would I do there?  Chat and watch him watch YouTube videos? Thanks but no thanks. My computer keeps me in touch with my friends and my family. His phone? Sure he does talk to people on it, but he’s always running the battery down, plugging it in, losing the cords or the earphone or whatever. I don’t take my computer outside with me. He can’t say the same. He sleeps with his phone. He listens to videos until he falls asleep.  I don’t do that.

This argument won’t be over soon.  I think that neither one of us is willing to give way about it.

So, September is not off to a good start. Not sure what tomorrow is going to be like. He said that he is going to try and take the day off, but we’ll see. He might prefer to go to work where people are nicer to him!

Come back later if you want to see what happens. Until tomorrow….
