Friday - Rainy in the morning, clear and sunny later on.

I woke up before 8 this morning, got up and then came back to the bed to watch the news. I’ve been watching a lot of the BBC news lately and I prefer it to the US news broadcasts.

I had a very quiet morning. I had breakfast, had some tea and then got changed to meet my friend. She arrived around 1:00pm so I said goodbye to K and then went off with her.

We decided to try a new place for lunch and went to Farinamore in Foodever.  It’s an Italian restaurant overseen by the man who runs some of the highest-rated places in Tsuruoka & area.  We had their lunch specials and they were nice.  I wouldn’t say this is an everyday sort of place, but for a special lunch with a friend, quite doable.  I had a starter of pickled vegetables including spaghetti squash, and then my main course was a bacon and leafy veg pepperoncino pasta.  I liked it.  My friend had a creamy spaghetti and it looked amazing. She let me taste it and it was nice.  We had a nice drink with it too before we left the restaurant.

We drove out to Mikawa and my friend did a bit of shopping. It felt strange for me not to be doing any shopping for my family this year, but the sizes in the shops would be too small.  After a while, we ran out of time and she had to go.  I was sad to see her off.

I had a bit of a look-through of the clothing to see if there was anything suitable for my family members or me.  There were a couple of things, but nothing I really wanted to get yet. I might find some other stuff if I look for it.

I went off to Baskin Robbins and had an ice-cream.  It was very nice. I was restrained and only had a double, a small one at that!

F called me when I was nearly finished to say he’d finished work and could meet me. I met him downstairs. He wasn’t feeling well again, so we did a little window shopping at the hundred yen shop and then came to the mall to have a seat.

We decided to have dinner in the mall. F was giving me a hard time about where I wanted to go, but I told him that really I would go anywhere except the ramen shop and the pasta shop.  I usually love the pasta place, but I’d already had pasta today.  He wanted to go upstairs, I said I’d have a bibinba.  I did, and he ordered some yakisoba from the kiosk near the bibinba place.  As usual, I was pleased with my meal and he was angry and displeased with his.  Apparently, the clerks didn’t cook his meal when he ordered, they finished cooking something for take-out customers first.  Then they got his drink order wrong. And it wasn’t very good.  I gently pointed out that this was the second time he’d been unhappy with the place, and suggested that he not order food there.  I have no idea if he listened to me or not!

We ate and then came back to Tsuruoka. F didn’t feel great at all, so we stopped at a grocery store to pick up a few things for K and also us.  He got her a bento and I got a few things I needed.

We came back to the house and K was still up. F gave her the bento, which she ate. Later on I checked, and K hadn’t eaten any of the yummy food I’d left for her from last night. That’s very disappointing. Her loss. We might have that for brunch tomorrow if I can get F to NOT make udon for her!

F went to bed, I took a shower and then spent the rest of the evening watching telly. It was all rather relaxing, but a little lonely too. I really hope that F is able to enjoy this weekend. It’s a long one and as usual we have no plans. I tried floating the idea of going to Costco but F didn’t want to. It’s fine with me, I don’t really want to go on a long weekend. I just get tired of him suggesting that we go to Yamagata at 2 in the afternoon when it is a 2 hour drive and we didn’t plan it!

I’m hoping that we might go out to the mall tomorrow and see a movie or do something else that is fun. I hope he isn’t going to spend the entire weekend in bed with his computer and cell phone. If he is, then I’m going to try going out for a bit!

Come back later if you are interested and see what we get up to. Until tomorrow….
