Saturday - Rainy and a little cool

Today was a really nice, good day. I didn’t know what to expect with it in all honesty, but it turned out well.

F and I slept in, however, I slept in quite a bit longer. When I got up for good, F had taken his mother off to the onsen. They didn’t come back until 1pm. I was starting to get a little worried or stressed about it. F had taken his mother out for lunch too, so he didn’t really need to eat. However, I did.  I suggested a few places today for lunch and then we decided to try a new place. It’s been open for a couple of weeks, but the first weekend we couldn’t get any parking. It’s in a place that we used to go occasionally for late-night coffee or tea and sometimes really yummy pasta.

We went to Cafe Manoma and were able to get in right away. They had two basic dishes on offer. One was a pork and tomato curry and the other was an assortment of different foods with rice and soup. Since I am trying hard to avoid tomatoes we went with the assortment. It was lovely! I think it was mostly vegetarian (although I’m not 100% sure) and all things were good. There were things like daikon and konnyaku kimchi, spinach and wakame, potato soup, and a very nice potato gratin.  I enjoyed it a lot and would definitely go again, F I’m not so sure about. It did have more of a “Ladies Who Lunch” vibe about it.

After lunch, we went to S-Mall and had a bad (too cold for me) cup of decaf and coffee for F. His was fine. After that, we took a twirl around the hundred yen shop and didn’t buy anything. We finished in the mall by buying some snacks and a bento for K’s dinner.

We delivered the bento and then headed off again. This time we went out to Mikawa Mall. F did a little shopping for himself and I looked at yarn but didn’t buy any. It didn’t really strike my fancy if I’m honest. I picked up my pants at the tailoring shop. I didn’t try them on because I’m sure they’re fine.

We took our bags out to the car and moved it around to the movie side. We went into the mall, had a quick tour around Seria, the other hundred yen shop I go to. I did buy some circular knitting needles there. I got three pairs for less than one pair in the department store. I hope I use them!

We went upstairs and bought our movie tickets, then bought our dinners. I had bibinba and F had udon. He spent the entire meal watching sports crap on his phone, with an earphone in his ear. It was really disheartening. Then, he just got up and walked off. He was getting himself more food, but he didn’t even bother to say that. He did give me a little of it, but it bothered me. I was wondering if I should walk off too, but I didn’t. I did suggest ice cream, however, so we had some of that. It took him a while to put down his phone though.

There were about 25 minutes left before our show so I suggested we move a little bit around the mall. After all, we were just going to sit for the next 2 plus hours.  F went to the washroom, I went into a shop!

After a little tour around the shop, we headed back to the cinema. We got some popcorn and drinks and then went in to see Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker again. I enjoyed it much more this time because I could hear all of the dialogue and wasn’t distracted by the story. I still think the dialogue was very choppy and only story-driven, but I could pay more attention to Rey and Kylo.

We were driving back to Tsuruoka when F said that he’d like to go for a drink. I wasn’t sure if he meant an alcoholic drink or not. He did.  We drove around a little looking for a place to go. We settled on a place sort of near our old apartment. They have parking outside and the food is okay too.

We went in and even though it was close to last order, were able to get a table. We both had a drink, in fact, F had two! and a bit of food. When they told us it was Last Order time, F asked them to call Daiko for us, the drive your car home for your service. We had to wait quite a while.

We got back to the house and came upstairs, and that’s about where we are now. Since today was quite good, I’m wondering what tomorrow will be like. Come back later and find out. Until tomorrow….
