Sunday - Sunny and warmish

I got up around 11 the first time, went back to bed for a bit, and then got up for real around 1 pm I think. F got up and made his mother’s brunch and then the two of us went driving to look for a place to eat.

He pulled into a very Japanese place and I wasn’t too happy. It was open, and we seemed to be the only customers. It was a bit late for lunch at that time. However, the food was good, the major downfalls for me were that we had to sit on tatami and the woman was very surprised to see me and said something about “gaijin” when she did. F told her I was his wife, but really…is it that big of a surprise to have a foreigner in your restaurant?

After lunch, F wanted to go and look at the flowers in the park. I was okay with that but also suggested going to the museum. It wasn’t open of course, sigh. We found a good parking spot and then walked through the park. The park was fairly quiet. There were a lot of families in masks walking around, but no shops or food stalls. It was reasonably easy to stay away from other people, so we did. Of course, many pictures were taken!

After our trip around the park, we went to Cafe Studio Cinq and had coffee and a pain au chocolat. I had an iced latte and it was really good, with the pastry it was even better. These pastries were very small by the way, not huge by any means. We spent a bit of time in the coffee shop and then F asked that we go back to the house.

We spent a couple of hours at the house and then went out to get things for dinner and the coming week. I finally got him to go to Yamaya and I picked up some cheese, some tortillas and some tea. He got himself some beer and we both got some snacks.

We went over to the grocery store then and I decided what I’d be cooking for the next few days. It’s going to be pork curry on Monday and Tuesday and then on Wednesday, I’m thinking garlic shrimp and possibly gnocchi. That might be nice. We also picked up a few things from the deli for dinner.

We came back to the house and put dinner on the table rather quickly. We had a fried rice dish, some chicken, some gobo salad and some kamaboko that I’d received from a student. There was general hilarity when I remembered another dish. F had heated it up, but left it in the microwave! When I brought the other things through to the living room I hadn’t seen it at all.

We did the dishes, F and I and then came upstairs. We spent the next few hours together quite quietly. I did watch an episode of The Loudest Voice with Russell Crowe. He’s really good in it, but what a creep the man was if the show can be believed.

I’m not exactly sure what I’m going to get up to tomorrow, please come back later and find out what I did. Until tomorrow….
