Thursday - Sunny and warm
I had a different day today than I thought I would. It was much better!
I got up this morning and then snoozed for a bit. I wished that I hadn’t because I found Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse (or whatever it is) was on when I finally woke up. I watched most of it and I really liked it. It may be a movie that I have to seek out and re-watch. It was a Spiderman day on WOWOW as they ran quite a few Spidey movies today.
Around 12:30 or so I got a text from my friend saying she’d be in the area, could she drop something off? I asked about going for coffee or something and we decided to think about it. She arrived after I had a quick lunch. She gave me a cup and a gorgeous bar of British chocolate. I gave her a bottle of pancake mix that I thought she might like to have her kids make up.
We met and were both wearing masks. We did talk about going to a coffee shop but decided that we’d just as soon go to the park since it was a lovely day. We went to the nearest conbini, picked up a couple of drinks and then went over to Komagihara park and found a shady spot. We did our social distancing and sat quite far apart and took off our masks to drink our drinks. It was nice. My friend’s daughter could run around a little and get some exercise and we could get a little chat time. When it was time for them to leave we gave virtual hugs (no contact and from 5 or 6 feet away) and then I walked back to the house.
When I came back in I said hello again to K and then got changed. I went down to the kitchen and made up a bottle of mint tea for dinner. I also got started on my casserole. Today I made French Toast Casserole from Simply Recipes. I did the first couple of stages, cut up the bread, made the custard and poured it on the bread to soak in. I put it in the fridge for later.
I went upstairs for a while and relaxed. I watched the news and waited to hear from F. I didn’t want to start cooking the casserole too early and I didn’t want to cook the other food either yet. He called finally and I went downstairs and got the topping ready for the French Toast, then stuck it in the oven. He was back by the time that happened though. No big deal I think.
I got everything else ready. Tonight’s theme was Breakfast for Dinner so we had bacon, scrambled eggs and French Toast Casserole (which was amazing!) with fruit cocktail on the side. The mint tea was good too. Everything disappeared. I thought that maybe there’d be leftovers of the baguette, but nope, it was all gone!
F gave me a hand with the dishes and they got done quickly. He asked if I’d like to go for a walk in the park and I said I would. So, after we finished, we came upstairs and got ready to go out. We just did once around the walking track, but it was okay. I did ask F not to walk so fast at the beginning. I don’t want to be winded. He still does his silly bugger thing of stopping and taking pictures, but I just keep on going. He can catch up if he wants to.
We came back to the house and he went to bed fairly soon after. I watched a little bit of TV and a little bit of YouTube and then wrote this.
I thought it would be a boring, stay at home day, but it turned out rather well. It was also lovely seeing my friend today as it has been a while.
Tomorrow is the last day before F’s Golden Week holiday begins. We don’t have any plans because we aren’t supposed to go anywhere. I just hope that we manage to get on with each other. Oh, and I’m cooking dinner again tomorrow night. I have it mostly planned out, but I’m a tad worried it won’t work out. I’m sure it’ll be fine though.
Come back later and see what I get up to. Until tomorrow….
