Wednesday - Dark and gloomy, rainy

I woke up this morning when F asked me if I was going to get up for some reason.  I sleepily asked him why and it turned out that I’d set my alarm to go off at 7 am and it had been ringing for 15 minutes or so! The sound of the alarm had become part of my dream! I turned it off and went back to sleep for a bit.

I fell back asleep and finally got up later when other of my alarms went off. I checked out the TV and found out that the US Election results were being discussed on the TV. I was drawn in for a while, but ended up falling back asleep!

I did get up for real around 10 and did a couple of loads of laundry. I needed to get it done. I watched election stuff, and also the early news and then I discovered that NHK was playing Notting Hill, the fabulous Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts film. Of course I had to watch that, so I did!  I took a break to get lunch, but did watch the whole movie. I love that film!

When it finished, the election stuff was still going on, so I didn’t really miss anything!

F phoned me around 5:30 to say he was on his way, so I went downstairs and started working on dinner. Tonight we had orange chicken, Brussel sprouts, carrots and French onion soup. F and K had rice and I had couscous. Yay me.  I forgot that here was a bag of salad in the fridge, it’s okay, we can use it tomorrow night.

Dinner got good reviews from K. F wasn’t too talkative. He got a phone call from his uncle saying that his mother (K’s mother so F’s grandmother) is doing very badly and her time may be coming up. She’s 104 and has been bed-ridden and non-communicative for years so it isn’t unexpected. F had to try and explain to his mother about her mother.

After I did the dishes, F helped me fix the soap dispenser in the bathroom.  After that, we went out to get a few groceries. I am going to do gapao rice tomorrow. I had another plan, but they didn’t have the food I needed to get.

We came back to the house and put the food away. I took a shower and then came back upstairs. I watched a little YouTube and got stuck in on writing my blog. And now you are up to date with me!

Not sure what I’ll get up to tomorrow. I hope I do something that I’ve been putting off for a while. Come back later if you like and hear all about my Thursday. Until tomorrow….

I'm very sorry to hear about Fumihiko's grandmother and K's mother. It's quite sad also to read that he had to explain it to his mum.

All the best to your family Helen. Thanks for your blog and the constant it is in my life.

Thank you! F's grandmother is still hanging in there as far as I know. Due to Covid, they weren't able to visit her in the hospital, which is sad. I haven't heard any news in a while.

Thank you for your well wishes too. Stay safe where you are.
