Sunday - Cold and a bit rainy
I went to bed very late last night so I slept in quite late today. F got up and fed his mother and a little later we went out together. F had suggested yakiniku and also wanted to go to an electric store, so we went to Togashi first for good yakiniku and then over to K’s Denki for a few things. We ended up getting a new light for the bedroom on F’s side, and a couple of light bulbs.
On the way back to the house, we stopped in at the Chido Museum to see some of their displays. They had a few of my favourite things in their changing display room that were cool. They had some examples of sashiko and kogin on display. It was quite funny because F came over to help me with the Japanese. He translated one and said this part means sleeveless, but I don’t know what “kogin” means! I told him that it was a type of sewing like sashiko. It was neat to know more than F about something Japanese!

This is the "kogin" example. I believe the stitches in question are the ones around the bottom particularly. |
We also took a look at the garden today. The pond is half frozen over, and there is a lot of snow out there. The ground was very wet too. It was beautiful in the snow.
We went back to the house to give F a chance to put the new light in the room. He did that and then we talked about dinner. I wasn’t ready yet, since we’d had a big lunch, so we decided to book ourselves in to Kula Sushi later on.
I joined into a Zoom meeting with other AFWJ ladies. This one was for people who were having birthdays this month so I wanted to at least pop my head in. It was fine, not eventful really. I left the meeting around 6:45 and we got ready to leave a few minutes later.
We had an okay time at Kula Sushi. K ate her onion rings really fast and most of my french fries, but I didn’t mind too much. I had a few types of decent fish, but probably ate too much!
We drove K back to the house after dinner and then F and I went to get some groceries. I got something for Tuesday night, plus some salads and lunch for myself.
We came back to the house and I put away the groceries. F set up the bread maker, he decided to try making bread again. He made a loaf, it looks great.
And that, is about it for my day. It wasn’t a terribly exciting day, but honestly, was just about what I needed. Tomorrow, I am back to the usual things in my life, laundry and cooking. Wish me luck with them! Come on back if you like and hear all about my day. Until tomorrow….
*Just wanted to say that normally I don't take photographs inside the museum, but there were several signs saying that photos were okay as long as flash wasn't used.
