Sunday - Rainy and colder - Happy Pi Day!
I stayed up very late last night, so slept in a bit. I woke up around 10 and then finally stayed up around 11. Not too bad. When F came back after making his mother’s breakfast he did something that surprised me. He suggested going to the lovely little restaurant just up the road. Since he threw a tantrum in the place the last time we went I was surprised he’d suggest it, but I wanted to go. We were able to get seated in the back right away and both had the quiche lunch. It was tuna and potato quiche and I thought it was lovely. F wasn’t as convinced, but so what!
After lunch we went to the Chido Museum to see the Hina Doll display. As always, I really enjoyed it. There was also a Doll House display in another part of the museum. One man spent his time creating amazing miniature houses with working lights, realistic furniture and furnishings. They were amazing really.
F and I also made a trip over to the garden. The snow has melted there and it is just beginning to look alive again. He saw an old cherry tree there that is almost completely hollowed out. It is still alive, but there is no core to the tree.
After our time in the Chido Museum, we went to Komeda Coffee for a bit of dessert and internet time. Our first choices of dessert were already finished today, so we tried different ones. I liked mine, I think F was okay with his too. F’s phone was nearly out of juice, so I loaned him my spare battery until it was empty.
When we finished at Komeda, we made a trip to the hundred yen shop. I didn’t buy anything, of course I would have liked to, but didn’t find what I was looking for there. F got a couple of things though.
We bought groceries at MaxValu. I’m going to make curry for dinner tomorrow night. F can heat it up on Tuesday for K and him, or he can make his usual ramen and we can have it on Wednesday. It doesn’t really matter. F seems to really like my curry, I’m not sure why! I just follow the instructions on the curry roux packet.
We came back to the house briefly. I put away the groceries and F gave his mother the bento we got her. We went out again for our dinner.
F suggested a little place that I’ve never been before, so I thought it was okay. It was a tiny little Chinese restaurant run by Japanese people. F had his favourite yakisoba with starchy sauce and 5 things on top, I had mabo-don or spicy tofu on rice. Mine wasn’t spicy enough really, but it did taste good. We shared some gyoza as well.
After dinner, we did a quick run to a drugstore to get some filtered water. I needed some. He also bought some kerosene at the gas station, since we were getting low. March is still surprisingly cold at times.
At the house tonight, F discovered that two of the three motion sensor lights he bought at Costco don’t work properly. They were on all the time, they should only come on when they detect motion. At least, that’s what we wanted. I took a shower and F watched some TV. I was really surprised since he doesn’t usually ask to watch it. I didn’t mind too much!
And that’s about it for my day. I’m back to work tomorrow with a morning class. When I come back I’ll have to do some prep for later in the week. Should be okay I think.
Come back later if you like and hear how the curry making goes! Until tomorrow….
